If i could give zero stars or negative stars i would. By far the most poorly run, unethical joke of what they deem a police department. Ive witnessed so many breaches in the code they’ve sworn to follow its heinous. Not only are the majority of officers lazy and biased they’re also liars who protect eachothers mistakes. I’ve sat and watched 6 danbury «police officers» respond to a 911 call i made. However the word respond doesn’t really describe what occured as i sat parked on main street outside of the department. A man laying facedown in the grass unresponsive to another good samaritan who tried to determine whether this man was even alive or not (I swear to God he looked dead hence my 911 call). An officer casually approached the man who he then tried to wake however the guy was unconscious he walked back inside, two different officers observe the mans state talk to eachother for a minute one tries to go back inside (but apparently the sophistication of automatic doors was beyond his level of comprehension because he struggled to re enter the building for a minute) the other officer remains by the door watching the unresponsive man until the last cop came out and traded posts. He walked over tried to pick the man up to no avail. Just as the officer was going to call an ambulance (my suggestion) a man and a woman, not fluent in english, drove up in an suv struggled to drag what i assume was their friend all the way across main street as the cop follows to protect them, from the cars that werent driving buy, by shining his flashlight. It took a good five minutes for the couple to actually stuff this guy in the backseat and the cop says «your going to take him to the hospital right» the other man responded «no hes okay «WHICH HE WAS NOT OKAY. But the officer seemed satisfied with the solution that seemed to fall into his lap and he went back inside. Meanwhile these people are still just managing to pull this guy into the car. Um the guy is probably dead; good job officer I dont care enough to do my job. How about the time my friend s car window got smashed while parked in a lot across the street from the bar we were in. Police were all over the place because they swarm dotwntown danbury late at night Im not sure why though because when she asked to file a report with one of the officers on the scene he denied her request. I walked over to see how everything was going and this officer is NO JOKE lighting up a cigar behind the wheel of his police cruiser. When i asked if that was really happening he said «No your drunk youre just imagining this» in a playful way. I was not drunk the cop was just another great example of the piss poor police department; which Im not even really sure why the government even bothers funding this circus. Ive also seen numerous acts of violence occuring while the police stood by and watched. My favorite though was when one night i was leaving a bar somewhere around mainstreet and myself and a few friend witness a giant group of derelict high school age kids engage in a group brawl; girls hitting guys, guys hitting girls, etc. There were several cop cars on the scene and when i asked an officer if they were going to do anything he responded «you come to the zoo youre going to see animals». I was floored after a few more valid point were made about how unethical it was to not break up the fight the officer threatened to arrest ME if I did not walk away. I didnt know asking a cop questions was illegal but assault and battery was totally cool. By the time we got in our car and were leaving there were over ten cop cars on the scene not doing anything. I asked one more officer what the name of the first cop was and about the conversation we’d had. This officer, while very nice and seemingly bothered but still on board with the police’s inaction, told me someone of the general demographics those kids fell into, spat in an officers face. That was his excuse for all of them not getting involved. Ridiculous. The whole institution, each and every one of those officers should be subject to an internal affairs investigation. Heres to hoping.
