Danbury Autowerks

I highly recommend this shop. Over the past 2 years, we have had both our 2006 MINI Copper S convertible, and 2002 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport wagon worked on, with awesome results.
This is our go-​to guy for anything car-​related. He is fair, honest, and reasonably priced.

I need to rescind my positive review about Danbury Autowerks. I will never return here and would not recommend them. The customer service is distasteful and technical ability doesn’t exist.
I returned to Danbury Autowerks on August 7^th because I was having issues with my radiator/​AC they installed for me in November 2013. They called me to let me know they couldn’t duplicate the issue/​water noise I was hearing so nothing was wrong. The owner proceeded to tell me that «the front of your car has issues,» «there are noises coming from the front of your car.» I asked what was wrong with the front of the car and he said he didn’t know. I had to call back a few hours later and discovered he looked into it and figured out I needed new Struts, Front Strut Mounts, and Ball Joints for ~$ 1,100. In November 2013 I spent over $ 900 for my radiator and A/​C condenser replacement.
I drive a Pontiac G6, 2009. Currently has 33,000 miles on it. I decided to get a few extra opinions before spending over $ 1,000 on my car and in particular on parts that typically don’t need to be replaced until ~70K+ miles, struts. My other opinions:
Mechanic #1: my car was in fine condition — noticed my backup radiator fluid was never refilled after Danbury Autowerks replaced my radiator.
Certified Dealership: I paid $ 120 for a safety inspection. They said everything including my struts, ball mounts and front strut mounts were fine. They did notice that my car was missing 2 large parts that were most likely ripped off when I ran over the tire tread in November 2013 — Danbury Autowerks did not inform me of the missing parts.
Mechanic #2: master mechanic for GM looked at my car and said it is completely fine and the struts did not need to be replaced.
I called the owner of Danbury Autowerks to tell him I was unsatisfied with my service and that he made me feel unsafe to drive my car. He told me that all of the other opinions were incorrect and that I was just waiting for something to go wrong. The owner was angry with me and went through his credentials and said he would never rip someone off. He repeated to argue with me about the validity of the 3 other opinions I received. The next day he left me a voicemail asking to call and offered to replace my struts for just the cost of parts, with free labor telling me my struts needed to be replaced.
In the end, this whole experience took over 5 days. It’s been a month and my car is more than fine. Looking back, I realized he never told me what actually was wrong with my struts, strut mount, or ball joints. The dealership and mechanics told me I would see them leaking, my car would be bouncy, or i would feel bumps like a hard thud — none of this has happened.
I chose to believe the 3 opinions including a certified dealership opinion, in writing. If you have a car and money that you don’t want to throw away I would take your business elsewhere. I am so happy I didn’t spend the $ 1,100. The owner is right — his business does depend on reputation and I will never go back here again.
My advice: ask to see the problem with your car, look it up yourself (YouTube, Google), ask a dealership how much the parts /​labor should cost (they’ll tell you for free), and do not go to Danbury Autowerks.

Worst place ever! They «fixed“my car but when the same thing broke again they wouldn’t honor their warranty. Don’t trust them they’re really horrible. Spend your money where someone will really fix your car right.

Went in to get an oil change… ended up doing my entire 75k standard maintenance with them. Drove over 45 min to this shop and had great service and they were also well knowledgeable about my vehicle. You could tell they cared that you received a good products. Used great parts and put my car back in like new shape. Highly recommended
