Colonial of Danbury

I found a CX-​5 at Colonial Mazda that I was very interested in. I sent an email Wednesday night (6÷17÷15) inquiring if it is still available. I did not receive a reply as of 10 am on 6÷18÷15. Weird, as usually sales gets RIGHT back to you first thing in the morning. I tried calling their main phone number and got a message «To be connected please press 1 otherwise please hang up and call directory assistance». Weird. When I press 1 I get a message that I’m calling outside of normal business hours and to leave a message. I called every hour, still got the same message. Finally at noon I called and left a message requesting a call back. I stated I was willing to leave a deposit over the phone to hold the vehicle until I could get there Saturday afternoon. NO CALL BACK, NO EMAIL as of 10:20 am on ⁶⁄₁₉. I will be taking my business elsewhere as obviously they’re not interested in making a sale.

The service department is exceptional. I’m not sure what people are complaining about. The sales and management are the week spot here. I found the management at Danbury Honda more honest and customer friendly.

Service dept. is extremely slow and they don’t keep their word. I brought my car at 8 AM, the fella at the desk gave me a quote of 2 – 2.5 hours for tire change and a recall job. I came back at 11, my car was still standing where I parked it and the same fella gave me 1 PM estimate. Now it’s 3:30 PM and the car is still not done. I have wasted whole day off work, if I knew it I would take a loaner & came back at 5 PM. I won’t come back here anymore for any service.

we just purchased a used ford explorer from colonial ford. I just want to say that it was the best car buying experience we had. No hard selling on extra add ons, no BS fees and very nice group of people. We dealt with Tim, he was very nice and helped us through the whole experience. End of the day we picked up our car the next morning. Not sure if they are like this with everyone but my experience was stress free! ill be back for sure.

This dealership is unethical and I don’t and won’t recommend them to any friends or family. I had put down a $ 500 down payment on a car to hold it. My initial credit app was denied so the sales rep and I were emailing back and forth for a day or two as to what I was planning to do regarding financing. The sales rep emailed my on Jan 1 and I emailed him back within an hour of his email and said I would go with another co-​signor and would submit the application later that evening. I submitted the app and email the sales rep that same night. I get an email back the next day (Jan 2^nd) and said they sold the car. I called the rep and told him we had a deal and I put a good faith down payment down to hold the car. His/​their excuse was that it was the end of the month and they didn’t know what I was going to do (which was baloney) so they (the sales manager per the sales rep) made a business decision to sell the car. What a sleazy thing to do. For this reason, I don’t recommend this dealership at all. I’ve bought a number of cars at dealerships and have put down payments down to hold the car for more than a few days. The sales rep was apologetic but that’s no excuse. If this is the way they do business than I want no part of them. I don’t recommend this dealership at all!

I have been a customer for 15 years. Five new cars for me, not counting my wife’s. The service (Subaru) has been in steady decline for several years. They don’t like or respect their customers, and they will do the least possible in order to maximize profits. I won’t go there again, maybe you should think twice before you do.

Went here for a used vehicle they advertised online. Told the salesman over the phone it was about two and half hour drive and I wanted to get a rough estimate for my trade. I got his assurance it was worth my while to come down. Drove for two and half hours and when I got there they gave me a speech about how the online price is the bottom line, and then they offered me $ 3000 below the book trade value for my truck. Really bad place. Not professional and they seem to enjoy wasting your time. Do yourself a favor and take this place off your list. I came with a loan in place from my personal bank and was willing to to pay asking price on their vehicle, but they were beyond unreasonable with my trade. They wanted to make money on the trade instead of just selling me a car they were already making money on. Dishonest people and disrespectful.

Poor service department, very slow.
I picked up a 93′ Miata in 2011 and came here to get an oil change and a full inspection. I was told it was not safe to drive with an original timing belt at 70,000 miles, which isn’t exactly true. The car is actually in very good shape and didn’t need much work done.
I came for two additional oil changes. First time took 90 minutes and the second time was just over 2 hours and I came there right at opening after I had previously scheduled the time out. Very slow and there was no explanation at all as to why a scheduled routine oil change took more than 2 hours.
All in all, they were friendly, but don’t expect quick service here, as is the case with many service departments, they’ll try to pull fast ones for a few extra bucks. I won’t return.

Not sure they actually want to sell any cars?
On their website, it says on Thursdays they are open until 7:30, as does the sign on their door. When we got there at 6:50 pm to look at cars, we were greeted with a ‘You have about 5 minutes before we close up’. We were then told that they had ‘winter’ hours — funny that they aren’t published anywhere anyone would look! They were also fairly rude — when people want to come in and drop ~$ 30k on your product, you would think that you would be a little more helpful. Go to the one in Brewster instead — they were so much nicer.

We dealt with Tom Amalfitano — a really nice, thorough guy — great follow up, no pressure. Really knows his stuff. They made this an extremely easy experience — we bought a Mazda 5 and totally love it! I don’t know how many people would actually recommend a car dealership, but I thought this one was terrific — I’d buy from them again and I’ll refer my friends.
