The Dragon Institute

My wife and I have been going to the Dragon Institute now for several months.
We have come to absolutely enjoy our time as the Sifu* is very knowledgable, patient, caring and most important for us starts the practices with the end in mind.
Many other Wing Chun practitioners have you do the same routine for a long time before you realize how the pieces fit together.
In this institute and our experience, we get to see our Sifu show the movement and its usage and applications, then we spend lots of time perfecting it which in reality could take a long time as one is always learning about his/​her body and reflections.
It’s important to share that both my wife and I have a full time job and are very busy. But we manage to make all the classes as this is a meditative session for us. One that clears our head and focuses us on being in the moment. A great way of removing stress from a busy day. Again, another positive aspect of this Sifu.
The other students are very respectful, humble, and helpful as they follow the same energy and vibe that the Sifu installs in his school. You have nothing to fear about in these classes — don’t be questioning if you should join or not, just do it. You’ll absolutely love it. Don’t let change and a new approach or practice hold you back. Flow forward like water and just try this. There’s absolutely nothing difficult or scary about this martial arts school.
BTW — I have done Tae Kwon Do for years and done Krav Mega. Both were hard to start. I had to be fit and in an angry state of mind to be ready to fight and throw down. In this school, you learn all about the energy and how to efficiently utilize it, flow with it to have an impact on your opponent. Very zen like approach which I appreciate a great deal.
If you are a couple, you will enjoy these classes as you’ll have fun and learn something great together and get to know other friends. If you are single, you’ll interact and get to know other great folks in the class who are like minded and very caring yet skillful.
We definitely recommend Dana Point or Irvine Dragon institutes to our friends and family.
* Sifu = (Cantonese Chinese) or shifu (Mandarin Chinese) is an accomplished teacher who oversees apprentices in certain traditions and philosophies.

My 2 daughters, son and husband love this place! Sifu Adam is an inspirational and powerful leader and works excellent with children of all ages! If you love Ip Man and Bruce Lee, you’ll love this form of martial arts.
