My friend has been wanting to check this place out for a while and finally got to do it today. We rented a double kayak for $ 20 an hour! That’s a deal! It was so much fun to cruise the Dana Point Harbor.
They have jet skis, kayaks, paddle boards, surfboards and wetsuits for rent.

Dana Point Jet Ski & Kayak Center is a great place to rent a jet ski to practice tossing your passenger into the waves (oops… sorry!).
Make your reservation in advance (slots fill up quickly) — rental prices are slightly lower before 11:30am, but overall are reasonable. Once you arrive and check in, a guy named Guy will set you up with life vests (really, he has a shirt that says that!), you will get an overview of how to drive, rules to follow to avoid a hefty fine and you are on your way.
The jet skis are in fantastic condition and very fast! They are also equipped with clocks so you know when it is time to head back to the dock (booooo!).
Want something a little calmer? You can also rent kayaks and paddleboards. If you opt for a paddleboard, you can launch it either from Doheny or Baby Beach. The walk from their parking lot to Doheny isn’t all that far — you can do it! However, if you don’t want to carry or drive the board yourself they will bring it to you via bicycle for $ 5.
Overall a really fun way to enjoy a day along some of OC’s finest coastline!

Had an absolute awesome experience at Dana Point Jet Ski & Kayak center — the service is super friendly and organized. Super easy to get in and out of the water. Great to explore the marina, wild life and pacific!

We put a lot of research into durable purchases like this and all that data and shopping experience eventually took us to Dana Point Jet Ski. We live in Newport Beach and there are much closer Hobie dealers, but after our experience working with Michelle in the weeks running up to our purchase, we decided DPJS was worth the drive.
The entire staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. Their selection of equipment and Hobie brand accessories couldn’t be beat. We purchased the 2015 Hobie Mirage Oasis Tandem kayak and they installed the turbo fins for us in minutes so we could get right out on the water. They offer demos and Dana Point Harbor is a great testing ground. We’re even storing our kayak there while waiting for dock space in Newport. We just wish they had a Newport Store! Their secure storage facility and awesome valet service can’t be beat!
If you’re in Southern California and looking to get a top notch kayak, you can’t do better than a Hobie from Dana Point Jet Ski. They summed up our feelings as they were putting our boat in the water for us when they said «Welcome to the family!»

This place is really nice. The staff is very friendly. They go over everything you need to know about using the jet skis. we had never been on a jet ski before and felt comfortable after the instruction that we got.

The best thing about renting jet skis from this place is big Guy Hargreaves. The kayaks are great too!

Bought my kayak here 1 year ago and stored it here ever since. Not only is it super convenient, but the staff, including Michelle, has always treated us like family. From the girls behind the counter, the service personnel, to the dudes helping out with taking the kayak in and out of the water, they are all really nice and provide their services with a genuine smile. I highly recommend anyone looking to purchase or rent anything from a paddleboard to a kayak or jet ski, to make this your first stop. You really won’t need to go anywhere else. One last thing, baby max says, «hi Michelle!»

My husband and daughter were looking for something to do and we’re bored with the gym so I suggested going to Dana Point for an to Kayak. It’s only $ 15 per hour and they said great exercise and very fun. Hubby heading back today. Always can find inexpensive fun if you look. They are good about showing you how to do it if you’re new at it. But you have to ask.

My husband, daughter and I had just spent the weekend prior in Dana Point checking out the cool Ocean Institute Discovery Center. Afterwards we walked along the pier and saw a lot of beach-​goers along with many people enjoying different water activities. Among them there were many paddle-​boarders and kayakers, so we made note to check out the different companies as soon as we got home.
My husband researched and found this place and thought that it’d be perfect for us to spend a day on the water the following weekend on Father’s Day. It ended up being a quite busy day for them, but the check-​in process for a kayak still went pretty smooth. They had us set up with our kayak (and extra seat for our little third passenger) pretty quick with a minimal wait time. The gentleman manning the life vests was quite the character! He brought the biggest smile to our young daughter’s face and kept us all amused with his very chipper personality.
All in all we were very pleased with our relaxing day spent on the water taking in the breathtaking Dana Point coastline. It was a great way to spend a day with the family. Definitely something we will do again while taking advantage of the beautiful Southern California weather!

Zero professionalism and zero honesty is all I got from these cognitive indolent individuals. Very frustrating experience. I shall never do business them again.

Excellent location right at the harbor, easy access to harbor and ocean. Top quality water sports equipment, great customer service and reasonable prices. We have been renting kayaks from the for awhile then decided to purchase from them and use their storage and valet service. We couldn’t be happier with their service. Every time we come we are greeted with friendly faces and they are all so helpful. They are well set up, organized and clean. Parking right in front. There are public restrooms right there as well. They are located in the best part of the harbor. The owner and manager are very hands on and always accessible.

We initially showed up to kayak but the lady at the front desk, Michelle, told us they were having a winter special on the jet ski rentals so we jumped right on it! Two people in our group still chose to kayak. We all had a great experience. The customer service was excellent and the equipment was in great condition. We will be going back for sure. Plus we went out to sea at 4pm and watched the beautiful sun begin to set. What a view!

A pretty solid rental shop, rent everything from single and double kayaks to SUPs and jet ski’s. This was our second time coming here. We came for a post-​Saturday night rager-​recovery session. Both got single kayaks, which go for $ 15 bucks an hour, a double is $ 20 an hour. Not bad, pretty average prices I thought. Originally I was planning to SUP, but didn’t realize SUPs launch on Doheny beach, and the kayaks launch in the harbor. Small details, no biggie though. Kayaking was pretty nice, covers a large area from the harbor out to the buoys of Doheny. More than enough to see. Lots of Sea Lions and birds. A few angry fisherman (not at us, we think. Probably at the small little dingy boats scaring away the fish), but all in all it was a solid shop. Thinking about renting Jet Ski’s next time.
Will definitely be returning.

I first came here about 2 months ago because my boyfriend wanted to go buy some kayak equipment. While there we decided we would rent a kayak for me and they even let him launch his kayak from their dock. We didn’t know you couldn’t launch personal kayaks (we aren’t from the area) but they let us just once. Anyway, the dock employee was kind of rude. He launched me in my kayak without saying a word. It was like he was inconvenienced by me wanting to go out on the water. Anyway, $ 25 for 2 hours is a great deal. Time went fast (cause of all the fun) but we paddled out and saw the sea lions and got pretty out into the open water.
The second time we were there was about 2 weeks back. Super nice chick at the front desk and the launcher at the dock was a different guy and he was super friendly. Great second experience.
Definitely a place to check out if you’re in the area or are willing to travel for some good kayaking. The harbor is nice and it’s nice seeing all the boats! And the beach is great and being out in open water is equally as awesome. You can see all sorts of animals, sea lions and birds and bigger animals.
Definitely will be going back and taking my sister out with me!

We rented kayaks here a couple weekends ago. The staff is friendly and the process is quick and easy. By the time we got our actual kayak’s it was 20 mins after we paid, however the time doesn’t start until you get your kayak. Some places start the time from the time you pay.
The only thing I didn’t like is that all the boats, jet ski’s and other water activity things go in and out from where you start kayaking. It was a pain trying to kayak out of the main area when every 5 minutes you had a large boat crossing over.

I’ve been renting from Dana Point Jet Ski & Kayak Center for many years now. I’ve always had a great experience with them.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Everyone has always been helpful and very friendly. I usually rent paddle boards from them and they are very accommodating. They understand that sometimes it takes a while to get the board to the beach and out to the water, so they aren’t as strict with the time. So, if you rent for an hour and you are gone a little over an hour that is fine.
RENTALS:
I’ve mainly rented paddle boards from them and they have always been great! Awesome boards that seem new and very well maintained if they are not new.
I highly recommend renting from them!

I brought my brother and his buddy who were visiting from SF Kayaking past week; it was the first time for all of us and WE HAD A BLAST!!! The staff is very friendly and Jack was the guy who helped us with our kayaks and was our photographer too, he was awesome. I will definitely be going back this weekend and taking my boyfriend and mom to check it out.
One note– we parked in the paid parking, but they have a free parking in their lot which is a bit hidden.

I couldn’t be much more unhappy with my experience here.
After literally hopping a fence to get in (parking directions aren’t clear), I rented two 3-​person Jet Skis that we had reserved. I watched as my wife, kids and their friends idled away and I walked over to the breakwater to see them leave the harbor.
Just as they got to the harbor exit and throttled up one of the skis just died. The battery light was flashing and it didn’t have the juice to start back up. I saw this and called the office and told them one was dead in the water, and all I was told was «I’ll tell the manager».
One of the jet skis rode over to a sheriff’s boat after a while and told them what was going on. A few minutes later I called the office again and they told me the dead jet ski wasn’t theirs. I had to clarify that it was indeed theirs and asked what was going to happen next. They said they had to get it back and the mechanic would have to make sure that they didn’t run over something, intimating that we broke the jet ski (it was a dead battery).
Another Sheriff’s boat came out and the older kids had to hop on for the tow back. And while on that boat, they got to feel like criminals as the deputy grilled them for their names and birth dates, as if they had done something wrong.
Once we were all back at the dock, with every single one of their jet skis there as well, someone came up and said they were going to refund us for one, just one, of the jet skis. I asked why wouldn’t they just give us a different one and reset the clock, and the answer was because they were already reserved for the next people.
So? I had a reservation, and we’ve wasted 45 minutes already on faulty equipment. Why does the reservation after ours get priority over us? Why wouldn’t they make it right with us? Instead they only offered to refund one jet ski — as if we had gotten our money’s worth on the second one — instead of idling in circles around the broken one.
I told them they were going to have to refund both, and they relented, and then was told again at the counter they were only going to refund one. I finally got my money back, without an apology for the waste of time, and my family and I hopped the fence to leave.
My family was disappointed, their friends were disappointed, and I am pissed.
