This review is specifically for Dr. Missirian: I saw Dr. Missirian regarding some lingering pain I was having on the outside of my hip. After a perfunctory physical examination, Dr. Missirian informed me this had nothing to do with my hip, at all, because«if it had to do with [my] hip [I] would feel it in [my] inner thigh,» then sent me on my way with a generic book of basic low-back exercises. After a few weeks of doing the exercises, I didn’t feel any improvement. I made an appointment with an extremely reputable UCSF orthopaedic surgeon, who actually ordered some X-rays. Turns out I have hip dysplasia, and will need to have fairly major surgery to correc this congenital structural defect. Thank goodness I sought out another opinion. I thought it was strange that Dr. Missirian wouldn’t even want to order X-rays. His misdiagnosis doesn’t make any real difference in terms of my treatment, however I think it was a mark of really poor training and skills. I would absolutely not recommend anyone see this doctor, as I do not feel he is qualified or thorough enough to make an accurate diagnosis after the experience I had. Also, an cursory Internet search will show that hip injuries can manifest in pain on the outer OR inner thigh, as well as the buttocks and even down the length of the leg. It’s never a good sign when a Dr. doesn’t have as good a grasp on his specialty as the Internet.

I cannot speak on all of the drs. at this location; however I will say that the company has to be pretty good because the quality of service I received was exactly what I needed at the tail end of the experience which brought me into this doctors office in the first place. I saw Dr. Missirian; an older, stern gent who gave me a straight forward, no bs answers to my much needed question: «DO I NEEDSURGERY?!» to which he answered: «No» Nobody can understand what having a professional look at my MRI(yeah I know, someone actually LOOKED and talked to me about my MRI) and tell me what it looked like(A-OK!) can mean to someone working their way out of a bad injury which made every day hell for more than a year. He(Dr. Missirian) left me with a new found freedom that day which helped me in so many ways. I sincerely thank the doctor, his staff and this group!

Maybe I twisted my knee reaching for the remote or tripping on another stupid dog toy lying in the middle of the floor, I don’t know my knee was swollen and walked with a pimp limp for a week already. The office is located just past the Seton Hospital on Sullivan suite 410, darkly lighted corridors remind you of the hotel in the movie the Shining. Don’t be alarmed if you see kids singing and whispering with ectoplasm dripping from eyes and nose… do not fear, the 2nd floor there is a Pediatric office so don’t get in the elevator next to the coughing kid. There is plenty of free parking in the garage, but if you own a large SUV maybe a tight fit. There is alternative overflow parking lots and street parking if you exit to the right of the garage. Dr Sciaroni also has a father that works with her and also another office in SF city. The receptionist and PA were very friendly, helpful, young, and pretty… I’ll just leave it at that. Went to see Dr Laura Sciaroni for a 2nd opinion on a knee surgery consult. I was told by another orthopedic surgeron in the area he could operate right away and I didn’t like the sound of that. The waiting room was empty and was seen right away after some new patient paperwork. I already had my x-ray and MRI on CD disk so only had to do one visit. She was very kind, gentle in the range of motion exercises and thorough explanation of her findings and future options if things do not get better. Good news is, she is conservative and promotes physical therapy and other options, not surgery right away. Very honest and skilled, I will not be going anywhere else.
