We now moved to the bay area and my son insisted to go to Dr. Kao for his dental needs because he had a good experience the first time we came in for an urgent check up) He is amazingly compassionate & will take time to explain to me and my son the procedures and plan thag he has.
Staff are very good in handling little kids and can most of the time divert their attention so that the whole experience of seeing a dentist is not traumatic! They also will accomodate quick check ups when really needed.
The waiting area was freshly renovated, with more comfortable chairs and ipads to keep the kids busy while waiting and tv that plays newer kid-​friendly movies :)

The staff of this dental outfit is simply the best because we are treated like family. My kids have been going to Dr Kao since they were little. My oldest is 22 and still comes here– professional, courteous, generous with their smile and concern for the kids dental health. Super amazed by Dr. Kao and his staff. I came in here with high expectations due to a few recommendations from friends. Usually when my expectations are high I’m in for a letdown and happily to say this time my expectations were more than met.
The waiting area has video game for the older kids and a toddler toy for the younger kiddos which my daughter spent playing with the whole time. The waiting area has a restaurant style effect. Kind of reminded me of a taqueria.
Once we were called in, my daughter who just turned 2, starting crying as she does not like doctor’s offices. An assistant was able to calm her down and I was able to distract her with the tv screen on the ceiling. Dr. Kao came and we were able to move my daughter in a perfect position to have him check her teeth. He checked out her teeth, cleaned and flossed them, added some vitamins to her teeth and 5 minutes later we were done. She didn’t hesitate or cry a bit when Dr. Kao was working on her teeth. What a pleasant surprise!
While Dr. Kao explained follow-​up instructions to me, my daughter was able check out the lovely fish tank and play angry birds on the iPad. She was also given a couple of hello kitty stickers. a purple balloon and a nice goody bag filled with a tooth brush AND floss. After a great experience we were happily on our way. Can actually say that I’m looking forward to the next appointment in 6 months for a cleaning.

Let me begin by saying that I am very picky when it comes to doctors so I did my research before we went here. Originally I was looking for clinic in San Francisco with many years in business, but then I was fed up with their unreasonable prices and 2 month wait lists for a checkup! So I went here and it was the best decision ever!
This practice is very good, everyone is extremely nice and the whole atmosphere is very pleasant. From the moment me and my daughter walked in, we didn’t even have a moment to sit down. The whole experience is like Disneyland ride — first we checked in and went to waiting area to play some arcades. Before we knew, doctor was ready to see us. We went inside and my daughter was so excited about all the posters, TVs and balloons. As she was in the chair waiting for her teeth to be cleaned she watched Little Mermaid from the TV on a sealing !!! Then very nice nurce (I think Christine) came in to clean her teeth and brought a lot of dental presents with her. She taught my daughter how to brush her teeth and floss every night. She gave her a little mirror so she can see everything she does. My daughter wasn’t at all scared and enjoyed every moment. Then we had DR. check her teeth. He was very nice, told me everything I need to know and explained some of my concerns very patiently. When we were all done same nice nurse came in and gave my daughter 2 quarters to get more presents from machines. While I was making second appointment with her my daughter was entertained by fishes in HUGE aquarium inside the office. Then we proceeded to a balloon machine where she chose the color of balloon and big old-​fashioned clown made her very personal balloon. I checked out while this was happening. Before we knew, we were all done with our dental check up! My daughter had such a great time, she keeps asking me when we going back. She also took everything doctor told her very seriously and now brushes and flosses her teeth without me reminding her!!!
This place is just awesome, very kid oriented practice. Also their prices are very reasonable if you don’t have insurance. I will recommend this place to everyone I know anyday!

Took my one and a half old to her first dental appointment. Dr. Kao was referred to me by a friend and he was great. The exam and cleaning only took a couple minutes and he did an excellent job trying to put my little one at ease. The office was clean and child friendly. Total bonus that they are open on Saturdays.

Dr. Kao is a great pediatric dentist. He absolutely knows how to calm a child’s nerve. My children have been going to him for more than 3 years now and they just love him. They were a wreck at first knowing they were going to go to the dentist, but after going to him several times they actually look forward to seeing him and his amazing staff. He is so nice he totally feels like family and his staff is no different. If you ever doubted your current pediatric dentist you won’t have that with Dr. Kao.
The bonus part is that his office is also very clean and has all the tools to entertain his young patients from flat screens attached overhead to watch the latest family movie, a video game at the wait room and the reward system they have for the children for a job well-​done. *****

Dr. Kao is an outstanding pediatric dentist always can trust my boo boo’s teeth with him.
Staff is always so helpful. Dr. Kao is great with kids. He puts their fear to rest. Th TVs in the ceiling are a great touch too. They sure know how to tend to kids. Good Job guys!

Dr. Kao is amazing
My son started seeing him at 1.5 years old. Perfect experience with the staff and him. He has a very mellow an calm personality that makes you feel at ease.
Thanks to him my son LOVES to go to the dentist.

i was referred to dr. kao from a friend of mine who also brings her son here. I was looking for a new pedi dentist for both my girls cuz the previous one talk way too much and too way too long for one cleaning appt! Anyway, Dr. Kao and his staff are excellent! The front desk is super nice and friendly. My daughters love it here. They always look forward to the quarter toy machine that Dr. Kao has in the office. They would always give the girls a coin to get a toy. Dr. Kao is amazing. He knows his stuff and gets right to the point! We’ve been here roughly about 2 years. Didn’t notice that they have an orthodontics too, made an appt for consultation for my 12 year old daughter. Let’s see how that goes. Definitely recommend Dr. Kao!

My wife and I have been bringing our 2 boys to Dr. Kao since my oldest was 3 years old. He is currently 6 and my youngest probably started seeing him around the same age. He was recommended by a friend of mines whose child was under the care of Dr. Kao. Initially when my friend mentioned to me that his 2 year old was seeing a dentist, I was shocked because I couldn’t fathom my son cooperating with a dentist. We decided at the time that the early that we brought him in, the easier it would be for him to get adjusted with it. Since his first visit, my son who can be somewhat difficult at times has been cooperative. I have to give the credit to Dr. Kao. He and his staff have this way of putting both my sons at ease. They do great work and to kick it off, they just recently renovated their office. The office looks great, Dr. Kao!

I was really nervous bringing my baby here for her first visit. Kids somehow have a sixth sense about dentists and baby was not happy on the ride over. When we got there, the front desk made us very comfortable and knew us by name.
Dr. Kao was able to not only calm my baby down but also me. He calmly explained what was happening and was very gentle and patient with her. Before it was our turn, I was able to see him interact with an older kid, and he’s very good at talking to them in their language. The assistants are very efficient and professional as well.
I’m actually looking forward to our next visit in 6 months! If my baby could talk I’m sure she would say the same.

I’ve been with Dr. Kao for about 5 years and he is by far the most friendly, down to earth, and nicest Doctor I’ve had. He is very professional with all that he does. I’ve been with at other offices around the area and this is for sure the best. The facility is very clean, friendly, and welcoming, and great for children and families. I would highly recommend to check this place out if you have not yet
