Hookt Mini Doughnuts

After seeing a couple photos of these donuts on the off the grid Stonestown Unilocal page, I knew I had to try them. They just so happened to be the stall right next to where I was going to buy my lunch. As I was waiting, I stopped by just to take a look. A friendly young man that was manning the front approached me and asked me if I had any questions. I said no and he explained a little of the menu. I told him that I wasn’t ready for donuts yet and that I wanted to have lunch first, he smiled and said ok and I left.
I came back about 20 minutes later and I told him I was finally ready! He smiled and took my order. Let’s just say I got Hookt up! Omg, they were so delicious. We ate them so quickly that I forgot to take a picture! I I ordered the cinnamon sugar ones and they did not disappoint! I’m actually still at off the grid writing this lol!
Overall, it’s a must try! You will not be disappointed! Can’t wait for my next dozen lol.

3.5 stars but rounding up. They were sold out of Cookies n Cream and Ube by the time we got to the Stonestown OTG event (around 2pm), which was a huge bummer. We ended up trying the Coffee Mini Donuts ($ 6/​Dozen,
), which were good! It had a good coffee flavor, and the donuts were crispy but still a bit fluffy. Since they were in mini version, they were very easy to eat. Since it was close to the end of the event, they gave us way more than a dozen, which was nice. These donuts remind me of the mini ones they sell at Pike’s Place in Seattle, or at Fisherman’s Wharf. It took them less than 5 minutes to make my order, which was good. I will definitely be back to give their ube flavor a try!

Just like what the other reviewers have mentioned, these donuts are nothing like Trish’s donuts at pier 39. They don’t have the chewy bite and they are not perfectly fried like Trish’s.
Not impressed!

Similar to Rodney’s review below, I was excited to try Hookt’s Doughnuts because I loveeeee Trish’s Doughnuts. Sadly, our experience with Hookt’s was well below average. We wanted to try the cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar donuts, but they only sell donuts in batches of 12. (Seriously? Can’t go 6 and 6 to satisfy a customer?) Okay, so we’ll order two dozen since you can’t really go wrong with donuts. Only you can when you don’t fry them evenly and then you over sugar them. Tried 2 of each and threw the rest away. Way too sweet and there were portions of undercooked dough. I hope this was an off day for Hookt’s, but I would much rather go to Trish’s for the real thing.

MUST TRY!!! found them at the off the grid stonestown opening day. right off the bat they had a long line and it continued on all day. they make their donuts fresh on the spot and you can actually watch them making it. ordered one dozen coated in cinnamon sugar… and they are just to die for. they give a generous amount of cinnamon coating, and they just melt in your mouth once you pop em in. they’ve got other flavors that I definitely will go back to try!

I was pretty excited when I saw that Hookt Doughnuts was going to be at the Off The Grid Stonestown grand opening. I love the concept of mini doughnuts and if you’ve read my review for Trish’s Mini Doughnuts, you know I can eat a bucket of these little suckers.
When I saw their booth at OTG Stonestown, I couldn’t help but be fascinated with their mini doughnut frying machine (
). It was pretty entertaining seeing them use it to crank out the mini doughnuts every few minutes.
Because I was pretty full from trying other vendors at OTG, I just decided on getting one dozen doughnuts with powdered sugar as my dessert for the day.
One Dozen Doughnuts with powdered sugar –
The doughnuts for the most part where okay and the powdered sugar gave them the right amount of sweetness for me. They were a little bit of a disappointment though because I guess I was expecting them to be like Trish’s, but the doughnuts were inconsistently shaped, with some almost burned and or overcooked.
To be fair, I would still go back to try Hookt again to try their doughnut sundaes from their menu (
), especially when you consider that these are by the same folks behind Frozen Kuhsterd. They really sound good, especially the Peanut Butter & Jelly Sundae. Maybe when I go back to try them, the doughnuts will be better cooked.

The moment I heard that the folks behind Frozen Kuhsterd were launching something new in the form of fresh, made to-​order mini doughnuts I knew this was something I wanted to try.
Hookt Mini Doughnuts launched today at the New Taste Marketplace with their hot-​out-​of-​the-​fryer ube cake doughnuts. That’s right, ube — the purple colored yam so popular in Filipino cuisine. Topped with a drizzle of sweet glaze this was a delicious bite that was rather light and fluffy, not oily and just lightly sweetened.
The hot doughnuts which are about an inch and three-​quarters in diameter sold for $ 5 per dozen or $ 8 for two dozens. Flavored toppings were available for an additional 50 cents. They also sold pre-​packed pre-​made ube or blueberry mini doughnuts for $ 4 per dozen. After devouring a hot dozen all by myself I did grab one of these to take home, but I probably should have bought more because these disappeared shortly after I put it out on my table.
If you sign up for the mailing list on their web page you will be notified about their next event where I was told they will be introducing a new Matcha Green Tea flavored mini doughnut. I think I’m Hookt because I’m already looking forward to it.

Sadly, that’s the extent of my Tagalog and one of the pew Pilibino things I’ve learned. That and making sure I cober all the furniture with plastic cobers. Thanks, Dad!
