Dim Sum King

Service is not bad for a Chinese dim sum. All day dim sum is a plus. Food is ok. I go here if I want dim sum in the evening to satisfy my craving.

I’m new to dim sum and this place was delicious! My boyfriend and I came here last night and everything tasted great! The service was great as well someone was always walking by willing to give us what we needed. We ordered pork buns twice those were the best! I don’t get crazy with what I eat we got mostly shrimp and pork and it was all delicious and for 2 people the price wasn’t bad but I have nothing to compare to it since I had never had dim sum at a dim sum place before!

Food is good but expensive! A few English speaking workers and service are really bad! They point and tell you what tip you should give on the receipt! My dad was still looking at the receipt and the lady just snatched it from him. So fucking rude!

Pretty decent dim sum place in Daly City. Everything here was tasty except the Sui loong pau. They were not that great but we really enjoyed the sui mai, chicken feet, fried rice and Wu kok. Would definitely go back again to try the other dishes. The price is a bit higher than dim sum in Chinatown. If you can get their earlier on weekdays between 9−11am or in the afternoon 3−5pm you can get happy hour dim sum for $ 3.00 a plate. Overall a good experience and we got it just after 1pm on a weekday so it wasn’t too crowded. After you are done with dim sum you can head over for grocery shopping at 99 Ranch.

My go to place when craving for Dimsum
I love the steamed chicken feet and the steamed chopped pork ribs.
My hubby loves the Sweet & Sour Soup
It’s nice to know they serve food coming from the various provinces of China.
They also serve some of China’s regional specialties.
Place is great
Service is great
Price is decent
Parking can sometimes be a problem
And there’s a long wait during rush hour only

My go to spot if I don’t want to go all the way to Chinatown or ball out/​wait 5eva at Koi Palace. 3.5÷5 restaurant but bumping to ⁴⁄₅ because the food usually comes out quick and the service is pretty good. You can also call ahead to ask for the wait and get a number before you get there! Though, you will have to do some stalking of people coming out of Ranch 99 to find some parking. They also serve Dim Sum all day if you’re craving cha siu bao at 8pm at night ;)

We came here after my bf woke up with a dim sum craving and I refused to let him order delivery from a random place.
After arriving early (probaby 9:30AM?), we were seated almost immediately.
We got the usual Har Gow, Siu Mai, Sesame Balls, rice noodles, etc.
Everything was pretty good, but not overwhelmingly good.
Bonus points for being in an asian shopping center with a 99 Ranch!

been to this place quite a lot of times, surprisingly the food is pretty good. Avoid the congee at all cost, I been ordering it for many times and they came in super late. In a restaurant like this, the congee base is pre made, all you have to do is add the meet/​vegi into the base and bring it to the boiling point again. Not only they spent more than 30 minutes to made a simple dish like this, and the congee base has too much water, the meat is under cooked (which coursed by did not bring it up to the boiling point.)
the service is so-​so, but like most dim sum place service is never the priority.
rating is totally based on food, not bad, avoid the congee!

Our favorite place to go for dimsum. It’s not cheap but it definitely hits the spot when you’re craving dimsum. Whenever we are in the area, we make sure to stop here. Huge restaurant, fast service, and good selection. Even better when you can find a Groupon to make this more affordable. Our faves are the shu mai, har gow, and shrimp rice noodle.
Parking can be a little tricky here, though.

On a rainy sunday morning what is better than going dimsum well thats what me and the wife did and decided to give dimsum king another try after mickey mouse incident and since they r linked up with Fresh Elements next door they must of improved. Well think again the only thing that ever improve was maybe the interior got a little better. break down of what we order
1^st deep fry fish skin big disappointment thinking I can get a taste of Hong Kong again but I was so wrong taste it so blend is like no taste.
2^nd baked BBQ pork bun another disappointment the pork filling is so dry and taste like it was made last year.
3^rd chicken Paw this is probably the only dish that has improve came out looking good not too reddish looking and it was steaming hot. Got to give them credit on that. just keep up the consistent.
4^th The most important one to me XLB man that was the biggest disappointment the boa came out already looking dry and thick skin and I was once right again there was no soup inside but they try to cover it up with making the boa so puffy looking like it was fill with soup. the skin was so thick u can basically make shanghai stir fry noodle.
5^th. Homemade style stir fry rice noodle
there was really nothing homemade about this dish all I can say was the ingredient was not stir fry evenly I see 5 cocktail shrimp on one side and a few on the other side.
6^th Portuguese egg custard (po tat) this is mainly my wife favorite item, but for me it just another egg custard that tast a little bite sweeter than the regular one. The only place that u would ever get it done right is Hong Kong I mean not fansy restaurant but local neighborhood cafes thats where the best is ever made. Even if u go Chinatown on kearny street it still no comparison to HK thats y I won’t ever bother to wait in line for.
7^th. Braised duck tongue this dish is totally a waste of time. so not tasty and so not worth eating it just looks and taste like it was just mixed togetger with some chilly and soy sauce.
Overall the place needs more improvement. Just have to find that one person that is willing to put there heart and mind in to cooking., If u r going to call your business DIM SUM KING at lease show that u really r the king and not just all talk.

I’m surprised that there’s a restaurant that serves dim sum at night. Pretty convenient if I ever crave dim sum randomly. Also, huge parking lot. I came here Wednesday night to get dinner with my family just to try it out.
For dim sum we got: siu mai, beef noodle roll, and steamed pork ribs and chicken feet with rice (medium). They don’t have a lot of smalls, more mediums and larges, which makes the place kinda pricey. I do know certain times that all dim sum is $ 3, one is between 3PM-​5PM. Out of all the dim sums, I really like their beef noodle roll! The skin is smooth and soft, and the meat part is gushy and easy to eat.
For bigger entrees/​appetizers we got: fried tofu and fried pork spareribs. Lots of fried foods! I thought the fried tofu tasted good, not too bad. It’s just the plate was small and kind of expensive. I thought the fried pork spareribs was absolutely dry, salty, and small. Bad decision to have tried that appetizer! Our waitress offered us some dessert after we finished eating too, I got the sweet tofu dessert and I was satisfied with my dinner.
In my opinion, I would just come here to eat dim sum.

I’m sorry, I only went here because I was hungry, wanted dim sum, and didn’t want to wait in line anywhere on a Sunday afternoon.
This place isn’t bad, and it was only the two of us so we only ordered 8 dishes. All the steamed dishes were okay, shrimp rolls, shrimp ha gaw, seen jook goon not bad. Their cha siu bao could use some work, pork wasn’t the greatest. The baked dishes were not up to par. Custard in their egg tart was too gelatinous and I personally prefer pastry crust rather than pie crust. Cha siu so, sweet pork pastry, had too much dough and not enough pork.
I would possibly come back on days where I just want my belly filled with dim sum without having to wait 1 hour or 2.

We had a party of 13, so we went for the large family special, $ 268.00
Of the many items, I can only remember these:
Appetizer: large glass tray of jelly fish, seaweed, tiny octopus, beef. Each tasty.
Braised string beans with chili; steamed large fish, fried shrimp balls,
deep fried chicken, slow braised pork leg with pea sprouts, large deep fried crab (simply dusted with flour and deep fried. The crab meat was sweet but the outside flour coating, while perfectly fried was bland tasting, but it looked good). Next, fried rice (served near the end — this is the correct time to serve fried rice), And, for dessert: steamed glutinous rice ball with black sesame filling.
Each item was good, but not very good.
Sure, at $ 29.00 per person with tax and tip, it’s a little more money than other places; but this place is large, with nice tables and nice seats and nice furnishings. Upscale.
The staff looks professional and is professional and efficient. Part of your money goes toward high quality customer service. Kudo’s to Dim Sum King.
Half the group were hungry guys and I must say there was still some meat left over, so this place does not skimp on meat.
Two kinds of tea: both tasty and strong.
Parking: easy.
Customer service: efficient and polite.

The Shui Mai is delicious! Probably one of the best I’ve had. They also give you this amazing spicy chili sauce that pairs well with lemon and soy sauce.
The issue is the service. The employees can be very rude. I’ve tried eating here about 3 times and I am just not impressed with the service. So I learned my lesson and order my dim sum to go!

Pushing 4.5 stars, honestly. It’s rare to be pleasantly surprised with a dim sum restaurant: usually it’s pure disappointment, or «meh, this served its purpose.» Parking is predictably a mess in this Asian plaza. I’m not sure why everyone was being so vicious for the spots right in front of the restaurant; there are plenty on the side of O’Reilly auto shop. We went on a Friday at 1 pm, the day after NYE, and it was a 30 minute wait for three of us. The hostess waits for no one! She whips through the list: you’ve got maybe 20 seconds to respond, and if you’re not there, she moves on.
If you’re super hungry and ready to throw down, make sure you grab a menu and fill it out before you sit down. We handed it to our server, and were eating within three minutes. Everything was piping hot, fresh, and 1.5 to 2x the size of dim sum at other places. Har gow was a bit pasty, but the siu mai, fried shrimp balls, fried taro with pork, and soup dumplings were stand-​outs. We were gross and ordered twelve plates… ringing up at a not-​to-​shabby $ 63. Like I said, the portions are huge, so definitely dial back from however much you think you want. We walked out with three take-​out boxes.
I don’t mind the system of ordering from the menu, rather than waiting for carts to come around. It was only difficult to get the check, and we never got water, even though we asked twice. So service was passable — certainly not aggressive like other dim sum places, to rush you out — and the restaurant itself was clean and efficient. In fact, this was by far the cleanest bathroom I’ve ever seen inside of a dim sum restaurant.
If you don’t mind the drive and wait, go here rather than lackluster options on Irving in the city, and grosser places in Chinatown proper.

THIS IS THE WORST DIMSUM IVE EVER HAD
What did I expect ordering only vegetarian dishes… I don’t know, but this was beyond disappointing.
The vegetable rolls as well as the steamed vegetable dumplings had the exact same filling but were just shaped differently. Bland as hell and I think the insides were different types of fungus, so technically these vegetable dishes don’t even have veggies in them lol.
My boyfriend also chose this other veggie dish wrapped in rice noodles. It was painful to eat, absolutely no flavor here as well even though they DUMPED soy sauce all over it.
We also ordered jook, asked for meatless jook. The waitress seemed to think this was possible, but when it arrived omg I don’t EVEN KNOW what animal it was. We seriously couldn’t tell if it was chicken or fish it was the strangest tan color and even after my bf tried to eat it he wasn’t sure what it was hahaha.
I also ordered steamed tofu rolls, but they messed that up and gave us pork/​shrimp wrapped in tofu, so didn’t eat that.
HOLY HELL
So we ordered dan tat, thinking it couldn’t possibly be that bad because we just needed something to cheer us up after that semi-​vegetarian massacre we just ate.
Literally the worst dan tats I have ever tried. I think they must’ve been like the fake frozen ones you buy at the supermarket. They were spongy, stale, yet soggy at the same time. Really really really bad.
It was like being on a hidden camera show, where I was waiting for someone to appear saying it was all a joke and the food here really isn’t that terrible! But no, sadly terrible was the reality.

Came here because I wanted Dim Sum for dinner… and yes, if you come here for dim sum at supper time, the food is still hot and fresh! I got all the standard dim sum dishes, and they all met expectations.
Sometimes you just need to fulfill that dim sum craving… Dim Sum King can be the place to satisfy that craving at all hours of the day!

I’ve been coming here for years. Except for the parking experience, which feels a lot like I’m actually in Asia (and not in a happy way), I like this place. They are sorely in need of some spiffing up — like, if you’re going to put those fabric dresses over the chairs like a banquet, you should clean and mend them once in awhile. I rarely put much stock in décor though when it comes to Chinese restaurants. The menu here is pretty big, and the food comes out hot and usually tasty.
As always we came specifically for dim sum, although I saw some very interesting dishes I should try some other time. Here’s what we selected:
Shu Mai 4 stars: this is a standard, but they do a very tasty job of it. The skins are thin, but with some tooth, and the filling has good texture as well
Baked BBQ pork buns 2: This was my least favorite. I thought it would be like other baked bao I’ve eaten, but it had a sugary frosting baked onto the top. Not a good combination for me
Har Gow 3.5: Shrimp were tasty with a fresh plump texture. The rice noodle skin was very loose, though, and made it difficult to get a bite of the two together.
Vegetable roll in rice noodle wrapper 4: This was our favorite. I know I tasted mushrooms and water chestnuts, but not sure what else. Rice noodle wrapper, again was too soft, maybe cooked a little too long, but in this shape, it was still possible to get bites of it with the filling.
Scallop and meat dumpling soup 2.5: This was a misorder on our part. I thought is was soup dumpling, not dumpling soup. What we got was a small (about 8 oz.) cup with tasty, but weak broth and shrimp (not scallops), pork and straw mushrooms. We shared it, but neither one of us really wanted our whole 4 oz.
I was disappointed that they didn’t have vinegar on the table as a condiment.

I’ve been there pre rats and post rats… no more rats, their ceiling is no longer opened.
Love that you can eat dimsum at night, and there’s a groupon out there. Went there a few times with my parents. My favorite is their hand pulled noodles. Last time we went, we ordered the bitter melon hand pulled noodles (I no like, parents and grandma did) it’s a big dish and cost around $ 10. My fave is their spareribs with the hand pull noodles, but their spareribs could be better, not you typical dimsum style and their plain one. Delicious!
The downside is they charge $ 1 per person for tea, but their tea isn’t THAT great, I wonder if you could bring your own tea bag… hmmm…
