Miguel helped me put together a quick meal for my family that is staying at Baylor while my uncle is I. The hospital. Tacos are great! Green salsa is yummy! The burrito is super!!!

Great food, value, and service. Generous portions, low prices, and several healthy options. It has a homey feel, and the people who work there are warm and friendly. Salsas at salsa bar are delicious and free.

I definitely like some stuff on my plate but my better half did not like any of his food. I was disappointed by that. Needless to say we won’t be returning.

We have been coming ever since I can remember. When I come the one thing i make sure to get are the flautas. If I can manage to eat anymore I’ll get the chocolate cake or flan. The service is very quick, and would be good quiet place to go get lunch. 10⁄10

I LOVEZUZU’s!!! The gentlemen that work here are always friendly and polite, and most of all the food is great! This is the neighborhood Tex mex joint. They care about their customer’s(unlike Taco Joint)!!! And it’s a great value/quality for your money! Refried black beans– say what??? As far as food– I typically go with their awesome combos because you get a mix of items, the ZUZU’s chicken salad is awesome and a good serving size, and the best part is if you have dietary needs/restrictions they will accommodate/assist you– and best of all they aren’t jerks about it! Employees are always willing to help or offer suggestions. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5– I’ve had to problems with to go orders. Do what I should always do, check your order before leaving because people make mistakes and no one is perfect. It sucks to get home with something missing and even worse knowing you can’t go back and get it because they are closed! It’s a good practice to be in for any to go order at any restaurant.

Meh. I had better Tex mex restaurants. The chips tasted old. I ordered the Lakewood enchiladas and was not impressed. The mushrooms were undercooked and the sour cream sauce looked so horrible, like it was watered down.

ZuZu’s used to be my jam when I was in college and lived and worked nearby. Now I live further north but anytime I’m in the area around lunchtime, I try to stop by this ZuZu’s location for lunch. Food was largely the same as I remember. Maybe not quite as much«love» put into it. I recall when the owner was there taking orders and making the food. Now it seemed to be uncaring employees just running through the motions. I typically order the bean burrito platter with double potatoes. Do yourself a favor and ask for the burrito smothered in the warm verde sauce they keep on the stove. Delicious! I remember chips usually being given for free, but when I asked this time I was told you are given free chips when you order a drink. That seemed like an odd distinction(I just spent way more money on food than I would have on a drink.) but then I was given free chips even though I only wanted water. Okay, score! The salsas in their salsa bar are good, if not a little hard to reach for a person with normal length arms. One detraction, they *never* remember to bring me the side of verde sauce I paid for, and I always have to ask the food runner, and it takes at least 5 minutes to get it. Only other issue worth mentioning for me is the cleanliness and maintenance of the place. The rubber edges of the tables are permanently sticky. The chairs are so rickety, I replaced the first one that felt as if it was going to fall apart at any second for another chair that felt like it would fall apart at any second. Venturing toward the restrooms there was an unpleasant odor, sort of on the order of rotting garbage. Bathroom felt gross. They have mismatched silverware. I think they’ve been in business long enough and are successful enough to replace the furniture they’ve had for at least 12 years. A real deep cleaning would really do some good as well.

I found this place off of Groupon and thought I should give it a try. I was not happy with the food at all. Food was really bland and even the sauces were bland. Quality was alright and the place looks good but honestly, skip it and go to taco bell.

The food is ok, but its really good for cheap takeout mexican food. A lot better than fast food. Great if you don’t have time to do a sit down restaurant.

Had the cheese enchiladas. They were just okay, but I think I have high expectations for Tex-Mex being from south Texas. Queso seemed like it had been on warm for too long, but I liked the tomatillo salsa and chips. It was DEAD on a weeknight at 6:30, but there were people getting to-go orders.

I love the food here so much I’m actually afraid to try the other locations because I’m afraid it won’t live up to the standard this ZuZu’s has set. I highly recommend the chalupas and gorditas. My boyfriend usually get one of each to share and an order of chips and queso and we always have leftovers. The lemonade is homemade and amazing too!

In my lifetime of eating in Dallas, this ZuZu’s location remains one of my very favorite restaurants. So reliably delicious, quick, healthy and fresh. Such warm, friendly staff. So many good vegetarian options.

Unilocal loves Zuzu. I love Zuzu. With a Groupon on hand we drove to this place wanting a very good, fast, flavorful meal. We weren’t disappointed with our Groupon and Unilocal Combo decision. It was a hit. From the fresh chips and salsa to my fajita tacos and my bf’s fajita meal. Everything was above our expectation. We would be here every week if it’s near us. But oh well, we will still visit if we are in the area and wanting a fast and good tex-mex meal.

I have eaten at this location for many years and the food is fantastic!!! My favorite is the Zuzu’s grilled chicken salad. The owner Bacilio, seems to always be there. He and his staff are friendly, helpful, and provide above and beyond customer service. One of the rare things that makes this place great is the consistency of the food quality. Outstanding value for the money!!!

We love this place. Great food. Current Owner was the chef here for 11 yrs then bought the biz 3 yrs ago. Food is delicious, u like any Tex Mex we have had before. Friendly staff. Great salsas. No comparison to a chain like taco cabana but with similar pricing.

I don’t understand why this place has 4 star reviews. I’ve been to Taco Cabanas that are nicer than this place and with better food. First off, this is a counter service type place. The space itself is very worn down and could even be described as dirty. I didn’t want to put my one year old in their high chairs because they were filthy. Chips and salsa were average. Queso was downright gross. My enchiladas were tasty but the corn salad just had something off-putting about it. Maybe because it was served lukewarm. Quesadillas were simpler than what I would have made on my stove at home. And to top it off, you pay more than you would pay at Taco Cabana for worse ambiance and food. Probably won’t be going back.

First visit. Easy access with ample parking in this strip mall. The interior is clean but showing a lot of wear and tear. Menu on the wall. I picked the TexMex taco combo, 2 chicken soft tacos on corn tortilla. Comes with two sides and a drink. Whole pintos and corn salad were my choices. Comes with chips as well. Get your salsa at a little side bar. Servings were generous. Tacos were stuffed to overfill. Beans served in a mini taco bowl. A generous helping of corn salad rounded out the plate. Taste. Bland all around. No hit from the sauces. Chicken was tender and moist, but lacked that pizazz flavor that I like. Likewise, the corn salad was bland. Beans were the most flavorful, but nothing to write home about. Overall if you want a lot of food for your $, this is a good place for you. If you’re looking for a taste sensation, unfortunately, this is not it.

Eh… I’m a clean freak so if the places isn’t clean there’s open food sitting out like the salsa bar then it bothers me. The food was okay for Tex Mex but really isn’t anything above Taco Cabana.

Sorry excuse for queso, I don’t known what that brownish, watery crap was. Decent a la carte tacos but meh, I’ll find better. And close by. Their glory days are over sadly.

Let me start by saying that Zuzu’s used to be pretty good. We’ve been going here since 2010, every few months or so. My first upsetting experience involved their trying to charge us for chips when we ordered take-out. The way they handled my objection kept them out of them rotation for a while. They have no customer service skills. We gave them a few other chances because we thought the food was pretty good. Our most recent(and last experience), however, was nothing short of disappointing and, frankly, gross. Both our meals were bland, and tasting soley of water and oil. They even managed to ruin the potatoes. So bad, in fact, we won’t be eating there again. Bye Zuzu!

Love. This. Place. If you’re looking for inexpensive, delicious and filling authentic Mexican this is the place. Their pinto beans are an especially excellent side. Every time I’ve been here the wait to order was short and so was the wait for my food.

zuzu is the greatest Mexican in the world. I’ve been eating Mexican cooked by some amazing chefs for a long time, none of it holds a candle to zuzu. Go here. Over and over and over. The owner is amazing. The experience and service are always a 10⁄10. I really can’t say enough about how much I love this zuzu. The others make me cry, missing this one. Also, I might IV the green salsa daily.

Long-time, local Tex-Mex place in an unassuming strip mall at Mockingbird/Abrams. Signage and branding looks more like a children’s day care or pre-school than a place to eat. Passed by a thousand times and never knew it was a restaurant until I found it online. Hovered between two and three stars for this. While deserving in the«A for effort» category, they try so hard to satisfy healthy and vegetarian options that they forget how to make even basic dishes taste good. It’s largely disappointing as Mexican food, or even Tex-Mex as advertised. Although the people are courteous and the food is decent and priced well, it’s what I would expect someone from Minnesota would cook for Tex-Mex cuisine: pretty plain and bland. Had the Tres Color Enchiladas, a special with three enchiladas(two chicken, verde and ranchero sauce, one cheese with cream sauce) that included two sides. Counter service only with complimentary chips and salsa on a condiment bar included with every order. Three freshly made salsas are available including creamy tomatillo and a chunky roja, but the flavored teas(peach, raspberry) were just awful and should be dumped in favor of some fresh-brewed. Obviously, the kitchen has some talent as the food is professionally plated but it’s just not desirable. To start, nothing was seasoned — everything had no salt at all, even the chips. The spices characteristic of Tex-Mex were entirely absent, nothing«popped» or had any bold flavors in any part of the experience. Ordered black beans and roasted potatoes as my sides and the beans were very good, served in a little fried tortilla shell, but the potatoes were the worst part of the meal. Not pan roasted as listed and expected, they were soft and drowned in a light cream sauce and white cheese, and I could have worked them with a fork into presentable mashed potatoes. Even though the tortillas are hand-made, the three enchiladas and their sauces were almost indistinguishable by flavor, red, green and white. The salsas had no spice, no heat, not really any distinct Mexican flavoring at all. The food was edible(nothing was bad or off) but just as blah as a Wonder Bread sandwich. Calling this«Tex-Mex» is a huge stretch, especially given the competition anywhere in Texas. Don’t understand the rave reviews here, unless these are Lakewood suburbanites who have never eaten outside the neighborhood. Pass.

ZuZu is an unassuming little Tex-Mex restaurant that delivers in every was possible. After a string of bad enchiladas, I turned to ZuZu largely because it was next door to TCBY and I thought it was worth a shot. It turned out to be a wonderful decision and I will absolutely be back every chance I get. ZuZu has an unassuming exterior. There is a large sign but the windows are tinted such that it’s a little hard to see inside. For whatever reason, I never really gave it a chance until I decided to stop in with a friend while we were on our way to get frozen yogurt. ZuZu’s interior has much more personality than its exterior. It is bright, clean, and has a variety of seating options. The décor is appropriate and cute. Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The cashier offered suggestions on what to eat and his little daughter was in the corner doing her homework. The place just felt inviting and open. The food itself is great. The menu is very inexpensive, and my friend and I had two massive meals plus a taco and some drinks for under $ 20. I’m honestly not sure how they made any money given the size of the portions and the generous sides. Even 50% of the meal would have been worth the money. As far as taste goes, the food was excellent. I would recommend the beef enchiladas over the the cheese. Was it the absolute best Tex-Mex I’ve ever had? No, but it was above average for taste an far above average for the price. Add in the atmosphere and you have a truly winning combination.

Staff couldn’t be any nicer. I mean that seriously. We were a big, rowdy crowd with many many teenagers. They smiled, bussed around us, smiled some more. We were there doing one of those benefit dinners where a percentage of the sales go to a group. And you could tell that they really wanted us to enjoy our dinner and come back. Not to mention that the taco meat – the standard by which I measure all Tex-Mex – was especially yummy. It ranks up there with the old original Herrera’s on Maple, not the old one but the old, old one. I will be back here again very soon.
