Willie and Coote Salon

First off, let me start by saying that Willie & Coote Salon is a godsend! I’ve been coming to this salon for about 2 years now and the service has always remained consistent! Moreover, all of the staff are tremendously professional, sweet, and accommodating. That being said, my go-​to hairstylist and hair colorist is Jelaine. She is absolutely amazing! It has been a long, dreadful journey to find the best hair-​colorist for me in the DFW metroplex, but I can proudly say that she is it! Jelaine is extremely knowledgeable, artistic, and patient. She undeniably knows what she’s doing and she is the only person I trust to color let alone touch my Asian, orange-​prone hair. Seriously, do not doubt the craftsmanship and superb service this salon provides. Also, to everyone with hair that is prone to turning orange or brassy. I cannot recommend enough to go see and get your hair done by Jelaine!

I’ve been going here for several months and I absolutely love it! Rebecca and Stephanie are amazing. They both do an excellent job with cuts and color. Their prices are more than reasonable. I highly recommend setting an appointment with any stylist. The vibe there is laid back, and not at all pretentious.
I have very fine, long, and dark hair. I wanted something different but not damaging. I also asked for a cut that would create volume and they delivered! I love my hair now.

Love Willie and Coote. I have been going for almost 3 years now and have always had a great experience. I have hard to deal with hair and they always know just what it needs. Their Keratin Smoothing Treatment lasts really long. I can absolutely tell a difference. It makes my hair so much easier to manage. Absolutely recommend Stephanie. Best stylist I have ever had. She always gets my haircut just right and exactly like the pictures I come in with. I won’t go anywhere else!

This is my favorite Aveda salon in Dallas! I’ve been seeing Jelaine for years, and even after moving to Fort Worth I still drive back every few weeks to Dallas for a haircut. The inside is beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend this place for a haircut.

Nikki is awesome! I am one of those awful people who only gets my hair cut once or twice a year, and absolutely refuses to style it beyond blow drying. Nikki’s cuts grow in really nicely, so you can steal a little extra time between trims.
I recently had a bit of an emergency with my wedding hairdo, and Willie and Coote and Nikki came to the rescue. The Sunday before my wedding, my hairstylist (really my aunt travelling from Pennsylvania) told me she wasn’t going to be able to guarantee she could make it to do my hair. I called in a panic, and they squeezed me in for an appointment the morning of my wedding. Nikki did an awesome job, and gave me the exact style I wanted, even without a practice session. My hair looked great all night long!

I started with Jelaine almost 2 years ago. She has always given me a great cut and style. She takes that extra time to get to know you and listen to what you want.

This is a nice local salon. I had to get a last minute haircut and they got me in right away. I got a nice head massage with my hair wash, so nice! Stephanie did a great job on my hair and held a lovely conversation. I felt like I left with beautiful hair and a new friend.

I was new to town and a friend recommended! I have been to multiple stylists and all were great. Friendly place and my hair looks amazing every time!

Don’t offer to correct a bad haircut and then make it worse. Also, don’t make your clients feel as if it’s their fault you gave them a bad haircut in the first place. Finally, if you don’t have time to fix the haircut, don’t put me on your schedule.

I had a great experience with Stephanie, here at this east Dallas jewel! Stephanie totally understood what I needed and wanted. She gave me the best cut ever and was really considerate of the time. (I came in during my lunch break!). I saw one of her clients leave with a gorgeous new color, too! If you want a genuinely great hair cut-​sans the usual Dallas pretentiousness– you’ll love Willie and Coote and Stephanie!

Pampering is so underrated! Jelaine’s passion for styling a person’s hair in a way that makes them feel complete is luxury I haven’t often found. With her expertise, it made my evening out at The Joule with friends and colleagues an event to remember! Not having mess with my hair was a fantastic DE-​Sressor, I will continue pampering myself for all events on the calendar and hopefully line up Jelaine to preform the hair magic

I am new to the Dallas area and finding a new stylist gives me so much anxiety. I have had AWFUL luck with new stylists in the past so I was pretty nervous. After reading reviews on Unilocal I decided to make an appt at Willie and Coote. I checked out their website and was very pleased with the price of $ 55 for a partial high light with «New Talent». Given I just moved and am kinda tight on money, this was perfect!
I called and asked to make an apt with Nikki, who had good reviews on Unilocal and was listed as New Talent on their website. They were able to get me in the same day, which was nice.
Nikki was very welcoming and probably thought I was a lunatic because I was so nervous. She listened to what I wanted, just a partial high light touch up, and to be sure not to high light over my low lights, which someone had done in the past, and I was nervous about.
I can’t say enough about her. She did a GREAT JOB. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new stylist.
My only complaint was that when I went to pay, the receptionist told me it was $ 85. I said, «Your website says $ 55 for a partial high light for new talent, isn’t Nikki new talent?» She said «Yes, she is, but we have different levels of new talent and shes a higher level»
Now, no where did I see anything about different levels of new talent, and the $ 85 price was listed for «stylists». I usually pay $ 85+ for my hair but when I went there expecting to pay the prices listed on their website and then am charged $ 30 more, plus then a larger tip I was very upset. This no way reflects Nikki, she did a great job.

I’ve had a ridiculously difficult time finding a hair stylist in Dallas that would listen to me! I visited Willie & Coote because I use Aveda products and I was tired of everyone else who cut my hair here trying to hawk other stuff to me. I was able to make a relatively last minute appointment for a Saturday afternoon (nice!) and Niki cut my hair. She LISTENED TO ME! And DID WHAT I ASKED! And trusted me to know my hair well enough. I feel like the other 2 stylists I had been to here in Dallas just did what they wanted to with my hair, instead of actually paying attention to what I was asking for. It’s been an awesome and low maintenance cut for me. Lucky for Niki, my husband usually follows me to whatever stylist I see. I’ve also passed her card along to other people who’ve complimented my new ‘do. Thanks, W&C!

My wife began going here in 2010 and was very pleased. In 2012ish, things began to go downhill. It started with her having her hair done by the owner who had up to four clients in chairs, doing all their hair at the same time with assistance of staff. Obviously, that impacted the quality of the service my wife received.
My wife then switched to another stylist with ok results for a while. The last two times my wife went there however, it was a failure. The first time, her hair looked gray after her color treatment. She went back and they kinda fixed it. Most recently, her hair was a grayish/​bland ugly color following a color treatment. My wife went back and ended up looking like her hair was colored with one of those box treatments that can be purchased at the grocery store.
It is unfortunate because at one point, my wife was entirely happy and her hair looked great. Now, like I said, she could have done it herself and ended up with the same results. She will obviously be looking for a new stylist.

I went in for a cut and the double process blonding, and everyone was just fantastic. It ended up taking pretty long and I really appreciate that they didn’t try to cut corners or hurry it up and miss something! I can’t say enough good things about this salon and everyone in it.
I went for the new talent and I was very impressed by their skill and that the owner was very involved in direction. Their team seems very tight. I got a pretty dramatic hair change and I could not be more pleased with how well it turned out!

Jelaine has ROCKED my new hair color!
I wanted a fiery red with strawberry blonde tips, or a «ombré» style hair color. I had a photo of what I wanted and she NAILED IT. I am so, so, so happy. I will be recommending Jelaine to my friends as well as the Wille and Coote Salon. The staff was fun to chat and the overall atmosphere was great.

This is a case of «fool me once, shame of you, fool me twice, shame on me» for going back. I gave this salon two tries, served by the owner of the salon each time, and came away very disappointed. First visit I was on time, she was running 30 minutes late, which can happen on occasion, but no real apology or anything for the wait. Her technique was great during the color, but the end result was dull, with a grey stripe remaining down my part line. She claimed the problem was my stubborn hair and did a second process to it and it came out ok but still flat, not near what my experience of Aveda color has been.
Given the good reviews on Unilocal,I figured the first time could have just been an off day, so I tried them once more in a pinch when I had to get color the night before a trip out of town. It was another 30-​minute wait, another dull color job, but no grey stripe this time., When I got home and brushed through my hair however, I noticed multiple small patches of grey still there. The salon was closed by then and I was flying out early the next morning, so there was no time to go back and have them fix it. During my second visit I also heard the owner give another customer complaining about the dullness of her just-​finished color a version of the same speech she gave me the first time — that the customer did not understand how hair color works, and it was her hair that was the problem — which made me feel like that’s the standard excuse there or something. Greys can be stubborn, yes, but the other customer had no grey, she was simply getting a touch up on her blonde (and very healthy-​looking) hair.
Since I have never had a problem with a grey line, patches, or really flat color at any other Aveda salon I’ve been to (and I’ve been an Aveda customer since 2006), I seriously doubt my hair is so unusual that it was the issue. My next two color jobs at a competing Aveda salon went off without a hitch, looking rich and vibrant with no grey anywhere, which is the norm for me. So I am left to conclude that W&C may have some unresolved issues that impact their service. It was most disappointing because I just really wanted them to be my salon, living in Lakewood as I do. But I definitely won’t go back.

Jelaine is my new go to girl!!!
She is a newbie and I can’t wait to see her again. I am actually moments away from booking my husband an appointment. I came in with no expectation except for her to use her creative genius talents and she did just that. We chopped my hair very short, and she put in these really funky red highlights in my hair. I wasn’t in the least bit nervous! She has the best energy, and super sweet… I love, love, love this woman!

Ha, BAM… check that sh! t out… slipped into the salon for a new do… five minutes in and I decide to go dramatic — from platinum to bold red! No problem, Nicki rolls with the punches and moves on. I like the colors in the salon, the layout and most of all the wine they serve while you beauty it up ;)
The stylists are cool and it was pretty quiet the day I rolled in. I was so excited with the new do that I got some makeup done too.
They hook you up with bangs and touch ups in between… I think, I don’t remember if that’s what she said (snicker)… but seriously, this made my whole day! Hair, makeup, I went home to slip on the skinny jeans and went out for the night!

Professional hair care and the whole salon scene is new to me. My neighbor informed me of Willie and Coote and I just had to check it out. It’s very convenient for those in the Lakewood area but well worth a little drive if you’re not. Stephanie is a ‘new talent’ at the salon but to me she is my new stylist! She’s great, very reassuring, and personable. Plus, I truly respect those who take pride in their work and are always up for new challenges.
I love how I was offered something to drink and wine was one of the options. No, not because I’m a lush (haha) but because the quality of service for the average consumer is very far-​fetched these days.
Biggest perk for me is the professionalism within the laid-​back environment. I feel at ease and comfortable as compared to the ‘out-​of– place’ feeling one may get in one of those ritzy yuppie salons.
