4.5: only because my mom had a run in with a staff member who wouldn’t let her go through emergency to my uncle’s room (which she had done everyday since he’s been here). This hospital is excellent, excellent staff, both medical and non-​medical). The private rooms are amazing. My mom received care here a year ago and is doing well and my uncle is now here receiving excellent care. UTSW provides A1 service, I would always entrust my family members with this hospital network.

Gorgeous facility, and not to mention very clean. It should be, considering how new it is. Very friendly and helpful staff. There is lots of seating for visitors and free guest WIFI. Also, lots of plugs for your to charge your device (s). Bathrooms are very spacious and clean. I’m impressed.

I was admitted to this hospital through the ER. The nurses there were very helpful and tending to me and my needs. When I was in pain they came and gave me the meds I needed right away to make me comfortable. After some labs were drawn they said my white blood count was high. I told them it’s always elevated for some reason. I have two autoimmune diseases and get blood work every three months and that’s «normal» for me from what all my Drs say. Well they still wanted to treat with antibiotics. Being admitted from the ambulance I didn’t think to ask is this medicine ok with Myasthenia Gravis patients? Well it wasn’t. I also was in ER for about 5 hrs and in that time there was no dr and I saw the first Nurse Practitioner for about 5 minutes between two phone calls. The second practitioner told me He thinks o should be admitted but maybe won’t have to be after I told him the nurses thought I aspirated while vomiting in the ER and he didn’t know about it he said well then I’m definitely admitting you. That was my ER visit.
Now to ICU my first two days were great I had three very nice and attentive nurses throughout my stay. Jason was the best day nurse I’ve ever had and very helpful to all my needs. Jennifer was a top notch night nurse… It’s not very often you find a nurse who will do everything in their power to be quiet when they come in to take blood or do finger sticks. There were a couple of times I didn’t know she even came in! Rosette was also a great night nurse she made sure I was comfortable and gave me a scrub down the first day there which may not sound like much but with all the tubes and procedures I had been through it was like hitting the lotto. Now day 3 of ICU was the worst. It started with the night nurse tech I wish I can remember her name but unfortunately forgot it. She came in at 12am changing the trash bins. I woke up to her yelling at my mom telling her do you have a problem?! My mom said actually it’s 12am and my daughter just fell asleep. She said you need to talk to your nurse I’m doing my job. When I woke up I was like «wow what’s going on why the attitude?» She said I’m just doing my job! Now she’s yelling in ICU at 12am. She left came back in to hangs another trash can. Took the bag and made a huge noise to open it and put in on the trash can… I called her four times miss… Excuse me miss… Then just left it bc she was done. So I thought she came back in grabbed the full bags, left and slammed the door.
The next morning I had a knew nurse. The doctor was in and she came in looked at her and said who are you? Wow really? The dr said I’m a Dr from the neurology team. Oh ok she looked at me and said I’m Heather your nurse. I smiled and said thank you then proceeded to talk to my dr. My days were starting to get better My muscles were starting to get stronger they told my my NG tube was coming out and that I would be able to eat lunch! Again jackpot! I hadn’t eaten for 5 days. I would have been happy with apple sauce! The came in at 12 I asked her to please take out my tube thinking I’m going to eat soon. She took it out then said they would come to transport me to my room soon. At 4 I started to get a little agitated bc I never saw her or the tech the entire time. Next thing transport is at the door ready to move me. I was still hooked up the ivs, oxygen, heart monitors and blood pressure machines. The lady went to look for my nurse when she found her nurse Heather answered «WHAT?» So she told her I’m here to transport ur patient. She left without saying a word and brought another nurse… Also came in «What do you need?» At this point I disconnected everything myself. She said Heather hasn’t eaten all day… I haven’t eaten in 5 days can I be rude?

Just left here, had to visit my aunt tonight because she was having issues. The desk attendant was very nice, although I could tell he was adjusting to the new location he helped me find the right floor. When I got there, I saw one of the most amazing views of the city that I had ever seen. The low ambient lighting in the waiting room was perfect, and they also have a phone room separate for families to make calls. The rooms were very nice and had brand new state of the art technology. Nurses were busy moving back and forth and my aunt was checked on thoroughly before I left the room. This new addition to the Dallas area medical family is awesome. UT Southwest is doing great things, hopefully I get into school here one day!!! Their expansion is insane and they deliver high quality treatment to all their patients!

There are really good doctors and then there are ok doctors here. Like big hospitals like these, they’re probably not doing a good job on the quality level of doctors. They’re urgently needing to staff doctors.
The nurses though seem very helpful here. The guy at the front desk at the ER is a little on the slow side. He didn’t know what a colon was. I was shocked; given he worked at a hospital.
The facility is top notch. Each room is like a hotel room with medical equipment.
Oh and bring money if you want to park. The only parking is in the garage. I confirmed with the parking attendant. Parking is $ 3 after 20 minutes. 0 – 20 minutes is free.

Was very disappointed with my recent stay here. I had a major breast reconstruction surgery after breast cancer and when I was in ICU, the care was good and my nurses were top notch. However, when I transferred over to a regular room, it was awful. It was very apparent that the nurses were overworked and had too many patients to care for. The food was some of the worst I have ever had in a hospital and I have a chronically ill child who has frequent hospital stays and I myself have stayed in 3 different hospitals in the past year, so I certainly don’t have high expectations in regards to food. Was on hold to order room service for 5+ minutes frequently, it always tooks 45 min-​1 hour to receive, then when I forgot to request ketchup for my burger and asked at delivery, I was told it would take another 45 minutes to get it, «if I really wanted it.» On my 3^rd day there I requested antibacterial bath wipes to be able to wipe myself off since I was unable to shower, I sat in a chair for an hour waiting for them to bring them, buzzed several times to request status and finally the nurse told me they «couldn’t find any» and handed me a stack of dry washcloths. Ok, I’m unable to stand by myself, or go to the bathroom unassisted but somehow I can now miraculously make it to the shower to wash myself off? Only after I stated that was unacceptable did I get help to wipe down at my chair. I was also supposed to have a compression garment for my thighs that my doctor told me to start wearing, well, the one they gave me was two sizes too small, so I requested the correct size, kept following up multiple times throughout the day, only to be told 8 hours after my first request that they «couldn’t find anymore» I was discharged without it. I was supposed to stay an extra day but requested an early discharge because of the sublevel of care and they agreed. This is an $ 800 million dollar hospital that has now been open for 8 months, in my opinion, this is unacceptable. I love my doctors at UTSW and think they are some of the best in the world, but this hospital does NOT convey that same message for patients.

This review is based on being a visitor to this facility, so I can’t comment on how care is as I have not been a patient here. First and foremost this is a state of the art facility and construction is still ongoing. Their website mentions that the hospital cost 800 million but yet you don’t have TVs in waiting rooms (10^th floor) for guest is an epic failure, especially those with small children. Since kids under 12 are restricted from visiting and have to wait in the waiting room something simple like a TV would go a long way (like prevention from tearing up the waiting room). Gift shop is mediocre, they have limited reading materials so if your gonna be here for a while and traveling from out of town, bring a book, tablet, or something to occupy your time. Based on the room that my family member is in is very nice and modern with large flat screen smart TV and great views and the care seems to be good up to this point. The snack shop on the first floor is open 24 hours, but during later hours it works on a self checkout system where there is no employee to assist. Some items in their inventory will not scan and there is no manual look up method. Lastly still don’t understand why hospitals charge for parking? Oh that’s right because of greed and to capitalize on a bad situation when your at a hospital to begin with. Basically being charged to visit your loved ones. Just sad.

Very friendly staff. Clean and modern with top of the line equipment. Cafeteria has great prices and the self serve snack area is great for those late night snacks.

ER was fast and efficient. Within 10 mins of check in my dad was in a room. Within an hour they had labs drawn, CT of the brain, Chest X-​ray and a bladder ultra sound! The staff is great!
