Tricia Shimer, MD

Dr Shimer is very warm, easy to speak to, patient and a knowledgeable Dr. However, she IS a baby doctor and seems to always run 30 – 40 minutes behind. During my most recent visit I waited almost an hour, then she had to cancel altogether, due to baby delivery. Not sure if the scheduling challenge is what it is or can be helped by booking less patients to take into account baby deliveries… either way my point is, be prepared to wait.
Not a huge fan of the rating part as everyone’s personal «scale» is different, so really this should just be a «PSA» or «FYI». For ME… timeliness is an important factor when choosing a doctor. If I were having a baby or had female health concerns I would probably be ok waiting 30 – 45 min.

Dr. Shimer is a really really good doctor. It is very rare to find a woman doctor that can make you feel comfortable while getting an «exam». Also, she is really caring about her patients health. She will be my doctor for as long as I am in the state of Texas.

I’m pregnant with my first child and read all the amazing reviews on here so I thought I’d give her a shot. First of all, I could not find her to save my life. I called and figured out its the Presbyterian Hospital in the Perot building on the Lower Level (in case any future patient has the trouble I did). I was super stressed from it. All that doesn’t matter. She’s absolutely wonderful. She’s nice, thorough, informative, and answered all my questions with patience. Her staff is just as helpful. I feel very relieved and lucky she will be my doctor through this. They gave me a whole bag of different prenatal samples and a folder with all the information I can handle. There is no way anyone can possibly have a bad experience here.

Wow! I just got done with my appointment and HAD to give a review! It was my first time going to this office and I had trouble finding it so I showed up 20 minutes late, then realized I lost my insurance card-​yeah one of those mornings, and the staff couldn’t have been more patient and understanding! Dr. Shimer and her staff were incredibly nice, professional, and made me feel very comfortable! If you are looking for a new doctor, this is the place to go!

Dr. Shimer is one of the best OB/GYN’s I have encountered, and I have been in the field for 20 years. She not only is knowledgeable, but has an amazing demeanor and rapport with patients and makes herself available.
I not only use her for my gyn needs, but I moved here from NYC and had my second baby with her. This is after «firing» 3 other OB/​Gyns after moving here. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a lifetime OB-​GYN. By far exceeds any and all expectations.

Dr. Shimer is GREAT! I moved to Texas about five years ago with a history of endometriosis and other issues. I was finished having my children and was in so much discomfort. I met with another OBGYN in this area and was not happy with her recommendation. I met with Dr. Shimer and we went over all my options. She never forced me into anything and she explained very clearly what was happening to my body. I called her one day in horrible pain, she sent me straight to the ER. She even called to make sure I was ok. I met again with her and we scheduled a hysterectomy, which I knew I needed. The surgery went perfect, no problems, I even went home the next day. Dr. Shimer gave me back my life, I feel 100% better. I see her once a year and I have spoke to her at my appointments about very personal issues. She is very understanding and takes the time to educate me on my questions. If you are looking for a GREAT doctor I highly recommend her. I have given birth to three children, all different doctors do to moving, and I can honestly say Dr. Shimer is the best so far.

Dr. Shimer rocks! She became my doctor not by my choice. My previous doc moved and sold her practice to Dr. Shimer and it couldn’t have come at a worse time! I was pregnant with my second child and well the last thing I wanted was to have a new doc. BUT, it all worked out fine. Dr. Shimer is so friendly, warm, caring and knowledgeable. I instantly felt as if she had always been my doctor. When she walks into the exam room and sits down, you truly do feel like you are her only patient. She gives you 150% of her attention and addresses any and all of your questions/​concerns.

Is it weird that I’m reviewing my lady bits doctor? Yep, it kinda is. But I feel like I would be doing an injustice to the vajayjays of Dallas if I didn’t share the best GYNO that I’ve ever found. So, gather ’round, ladies. Let’s talk uteri.
I’ve never had a problem-​free female system, but around my 30^th birthday, my internal workings staged a full-​out revolt. Without going into specifics (because really, there’s no need to scare the children) I had horrible fibroid tumors that were sending my monthly schedule into mayhem.
After years of suffering through the pain and hormonal rollercoaster, my regular GYNO moved and her practice was taken over by Dr. Tricia Shimer. Don’t get me wrong, I liked my GYNO. She worked toward finding a solution to my problems the best she could and to the extent that I was willing/​able to participate. But when Dr. Shimer stepped in and took over, I literally felt like a sunbeam shone through to the bottom of my dark hole.
Basically, my only option was to have a hysterectomy and Dr. Shimer took me through the process like the experienced professional that she is. My life is so improved because of her that I really can’t believe I suffered as long as I did. She’s also my cheerleader for any tiny change that I make toward making myself a healthier person. She never judges my bad habits or my less than svelte physique, she only celebrates my accomplishments toward better health.
The one thing that bugs me about doctors and waiting times unfortunately applies to Dr. Shimer. But know that once you get into an exam room, Dr. Shimer will give you every bit of attention that she gives every patient. She never makes me feel like she’s rushing me out of the room so she can get to the next person and she remembers every detail about my life and my health.
If you’re looking for someone to do a compulsory yearly exam and hustle you out the door as quickly as possible, don’t go to Dr. Shimer. If you’re looking for a doctor who invests herself in your health and is your partner in taking care of your body, Dr. Shimer is exactly your woman.
