The first smell I noticed when I walked in, was bleach. It wasn’t strong, nor overbearing, but it smelled clean. There’s a giant menu above the counter, but it’s probably best to look thru the small one at the instead. I dont know but there’s something about trying to read a board that high up that bothers my eyes. Anywho, I ordered the chicken tinga flautas. LOL at the young lady at the counter that was trying to explain to me what«tinga» is. I just blank stared her ass. Girl please mexican food is my favorite food… oh yea so the flautas were good, crispy on the outside, and the chicken was moist and very well seasoned. I wish they offered more choices for dipping the flautas in. My dining companion ordered chorizo tacos, and the way they were devoured, my guess is they must’ve been good. I will definitely be back.

i am so in love with this place! with my mom being born in Mexico i get picky with my Mexican food because hers is authentic and delicious. Ex: Taco Bell, Beuno, & Cabana are not Mexican food! lol. the huaraches & quesadillas here are amazing! the tacos i can not speak on because i tend to like street tacos best so i probably wont try them, but i was told about this place because i hear their tortas what they are known for, so that is next to try!

Wow! I have passed this place a hundred times and never noticed it. I found it on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. Couldn’t have been happier with my choice. Don’t let its looks fool you from the outside. It’s not in a great neighborhood and the place itself doesn’t look spectacular… but they have really good Mexican food! I ordered the enchiladas with mole sauce and it was so cheap, flavorful, and the portion size was big. Definitely coming back again to try their other menu items!

How Tortas La Hechizera saved my soul. I had just spent a weekend in the San Francisco Bay area. On the way home to DFW I was sad, because the asian cuisine in CA was so amazing, and now I would be back in Texas. We landed at Love Field, & since I hadn’t eaten for hours, stopped at Tortas La Hechizera for a snack. I had never been here before. I got a pambazo. My wife, less adventurous, had some chicken taquitos. Yay! My pambazo was stupendous(I ate it w/knife & fork) while my wife liked her meal okay, but really raved over her rice pudding dessert. Of course, chicken taquitos are basically meant to be bland, so she probably liked them as much as possible. I was re-invigorated and once more proud of Texas. Yeah, CA might serve a great Chinese lunch(for $ 20 a plate), but my sandwich was not only less than $ 6, it tasted as good in its way as anything on the West Coast, & it was more filling.

After reading the reviews, I was thinking this place was going to be delicious and everything else. My friend and I were very excited about this place. So when we pulled up I thought… aint no cars here(yes, I said ain’t). It is a bad sign when you don’t see any signs of life at a 4 star restaurant around dinner time. We looked at the menu and picked this 19″ beef corn mesa thing. It was just O-K. Nothing, I mean nothing special about it! After the first bite, we were like Awe Naw! This is so bland! Very little to no flavor. I had to cover it in the slightly hot salsa for some umph! I say all this to say we were not impressed. I never have to go to the restaurant again.

great place to eat! I am a picky person when it comes to mexican food. I cook mexican food so when sampling, I am difficult. This place deserved all 5 stars! When I go places, I always check the bathrooms. If they are not clean, then I’m out the door. Well, it was clean. The staff was very friendly and the order was brought out pretty fast. I was impressed. I loved it! this is a place I will keep on my list. only downfall, the parking lot is small and the inside area. but other than that, great tasting food.

So my friend and I were craving some street tacos and wanted to try something new. The rating for this taco place wasnt too bad and I just thought it would be worth to try. The first thing you might noticed when you walk inside the restaurant is that it seemed like a convenient store with hispanic candy and popsicles. Its not the nicest restaurant in town but I didnt expect it to be with prices to be so affordable. My friend and I got the al pastor and barbacoa tacos and we both shared the chicken tortas. The gentleman at the counter was very nice and helpful since this was our first time. Im not exactly sure how some taco places are but I prefer the chef to season the meat with the appropriate amount of salt and seasoning. For some reason, my tacos and chicken tortas were extremely bland. I was a bit confused. Im a huge fan of street tacos and can tell you that I have definitely had better tacos at other venues less than a mile away. On the positive side, I was really happy that the Mexican influences popsicles were the best Ive ever had being reasonably prices at $ 1.50 each. These popsicles are way better compared to Steel city pops in my opinion. I got the pineapple flavoured posicle and my friend chose the tres leches popsicle. Overall: I think I would only come back to the place to get a popsicle and fulfill my street taco cravings at a nearby taco joint within a mile. The popsicles were great!

This place is DELICIOUS. It was my first time coming in, I came in with an open mind and was blown away. I had a Barbacao torta with avocado and all of the toppings it comes with. I also ordered a quesadilla. The torta was HUGE it was exactly what I wanted. It tasted delicious and didn’t taste like one topping was over powering the other. The quesadilla was like a big closed taco that was deep fried. Just delicious. My friend had the Tres Leches cake so I sampled that and it was perfect. Not soggy at all which is what you tend to find. I’ll keep coming back for sure.

My order was 5 fajita tacos and 1 pastor quesadilla, the tacos were ok but the quesadilla was very good, made with corn masa almost like a big corn empanada! Amazing, im coming back tomorrow for the quesadilla, and maybe to try the torta!

After a long day of moving and starving, my fiancé and I saw this place. At the time, the entire menu was in Spanish… no English. I recognized«tacos» and ordered the al pastor… best tacos I have ever had in my life! My fiancé ordered the cheese quesadilla. Now when you picture a quesadilla, you think flour tortilla and cheese. Not here. This one is deep fried with queso blanco inside and drizzled with a queso blanco sauce on top. Heaven I tell you. Very authentic place and it makes me happy.

Great place to stop and eat a scrumptious lunch! OMG the food is terrific here, I had a chorizo sope and a taco al pastor — washing it down with a fresca, I’m in heaven! My daughter had a tinga sope, and that was fantastic too. Very authentic mexican food, place is small and kinda crowded dining area, as is the parking lot, and kinda sketchy characters outside, I’m not from Dallas but I understand this is not the best part of town. However, daytime lunch stop is a must here… you won’t be sorry you tried it.

Great Tortas cubanas are my favorite with a large horchata and not to mention the small stand outside the la hechizera best corn on a cup. Small place but overall a great place to eat.

Really super friendly staff and delicious/cheap food. The horchata was amazing. I got a torta and my friend got the huella. The huella was a huge tortilla loaded with meat cheese beans and avocado. Highly recommend this place

Hate it! Everything is HORRIBLE! no side dishes, tacos? Bad! Salsa? They only have one type and it tastes like powder. Tacos? Cold and greasy. Watered down orchards. This place is just a horrible place with horrible conditions. I will NEVER recommend this place!

I wish I read the reviews first, because when I go back here I am definitely getting the Pombazo. For this experience, I ordered the Chorizo Hauaraches and a Barbacoa Taco. The Barbacoa Taco was awesome and I would totally do that again, but the Hauraches was a little underwhelming. To be fair, I had no idea what it was when I ordered. Everything was good, but after seeing other patrons eating the Pombazo I wished I could take«un mulligano.» I’ll be back soon and will update.

Coming here may seem a bit sketchy, the parking lot is very small; and there’s a small auto shop right behind it where some people use it has a chill out spot I guess, because right when we got out of the car, all we heard was some Hispanic music. At that moment though, I knew I was going to get some authentic tacos! As others have said, communication has a small barrier, but luckily my partner is very fluent in Spanish and ordered for me. Since I’ve never been before, I always like to get carnitas and barbacoa tacos’ to help myself evaluate and rate, because these are pretty standard options for an authentic street taco. They came with the standard fresh cilantro, onions and iimes The carnitas were cooked good, and the barbacoa was decent, although I wish it was cooked longer so it would’ve been more soft; but not bad either. The tortillas were very greasy as expected, almost like it was flash fried in oil. The salsa it came with was spicy and delicious. Now comparing, these aren’t the best street tacos’ I’ve had, as I still think Fuel City/Town tacos are better. But this place offers a lot more variety of authentic Mexican foods, that I really want to come back and try.

To be honest, I wasn’t impressed with any part of my experience here. After hearing so many amazing things about Texas Mexican food, I thought I would be walking into a hidden gem. I definitely did not. The first thing you’ll notice is that if you’re not a spanish speaker, you might feel a bit out of place. For example, the woman who takes your order only has the most basic english skills so you will not be able to ask any questions about the all-spanish menu. I tried to ask«What’s the best thing on the menu?» and the nice woman behind me had to translate for me. The order-taker then pointed to the Torta Cubano and I smiled and nodded my head. She then pointed at a bottle of apple soda and I once again nodded, smiled, and gave a thumbs up. Of note, they don’t take Amex but do take Visa cards. The second thing you’ll notice is that the 2-person tables are very small, although to be fair, there were four-seater tables that I didn’t want to use up because I was here alone. The food is brought out to you, which is nice, but the plates are styrofoam, and the silverware is very cheap plastic, cheaper than the stuff you’d get at a hospital cafeteria. As for the food, the $ 7.50 Torta Cubano is basically a thin slice of ham, a slice of deep fried pork(maybe chicken?), a hotdog/sausage, avocado, mayo, thin tomato, and bean paste sandwiched in a giant white-bread bun(See attached photo). It’s very large and I felt very full afterwards, but it felt very… «cheap» in many ways. Every part of the torta seemed like it was sourced from 99c store freezers. Just to make matters slightly worse, my 500mL Joya apple soda didn’t have the great flavor that Martinelli’s sparkling cider has and now that I think of it, I’m not even sure if it was made from real apple juice… As I write this review, I’m feeling bloated and regretful of my choice. In summary, this is a small restaurant aimed at the Hispanic community that serves food that I wouldn’t consider high quality, at prices that I don’t consider a bargain.

This place kicks ass. Yeah, yeah, the tacos are great, blah blah. Get the pombazo or the cow hoof tostada or something you’ve not had before because chances are it’s going to be delicious and you can walk away a better person. So do.
