On a recent visit to Dallas, I was able to see Steven Marlin again and can’t say enough about how pleased I am with the results. Steven is great at getting some ideas of what you want (I am a bit indecisive) and then providing suggestions that hit the mark. And he was extremely patient with my long, super curly hair. I recommend Steven without hesitation.

Steven Marlin has been coloring my hair for the past three years. He knows how to do the perfect all over blonde color so that it still looks natural. He’s always been very flexible with scheduling which is helpful. Easy to talk to, and Steven was incredible when helping me schedule out colors for my wedding. Theresa Allen is a master of a precision-​cut bob. She took me short and then long by giving cuts that flawlessly grow. Over the last two years, I have trusted only her to manage my hair. Theresa cuts my mom’s bobs, which are always slightly different, consistently sophisticated, and never a boring look.
Jennifer is a phenomenal colorist. Over the last five months, she’s taken me from a virgin brown to a honey blonde. She’s colored my hair so it appears natural. She and Theresa share clients & you can definitely identify their masterwork in the salon.
The salon staff and clients are cool. The Hive carries a robust series of Bumble & Bumble products, as well as Kevin Murphy. Most stylists manage their own calendars, so it’s best to text them to schedule your next appointment.

Jen B. has been cutting my hair for a few months now. She is quick and awesome at what she does. She also fixed my ombré when a stylist at another salon so graciously gave me a harsh line in the back that didn’t blend well. She made my color turn out exactly how I wanted it in the first place. Now she loves to cover my greys that to grow out quickly. I would highly recommend this very talented stylist!

i have been seeing Jenn B. for more than 10 years and I have never had a bad hair cut. When she moved home to be close to family, I followed her there. That was 6 hours away! I am so happy she came back to the metroplex. I live in Hurst and make it a point to see her very regularly. I have short hair and you cannot take a chance of getting a bad haircut. She is worth any drive!!! I appreciate the time she takes each appointment and listens to all my requests. Love love love her and would never go to anyone else!!!

I love The Hive. Jennifer has been my colorist for over a year now. Jennifer is amazing at taking a dark brunette like myself to a light blonde color, gradually and over time. I think the best master pieces are the ones that take time to pull together and perfect. She has patience and has great advice. I highly recommend her to anyone interested in coloring. Prices are very reasonable for Dallas! You definitely have to book her in advanced, she’s a very desired colorist!
Now on to my stylist… What can I say about Taury Patterson that I haven’t mentioned before when he worked for Halo and Pompeo?!? I would go anywhere he goes bc I trust my hair to that man. 5 year relationship and still going strong!

Steven is GREAT! I have been going to Steven for about a year now. He always knows exactly how to schedule my highlights so that I always look like I have fresh hair. Steven has great prices and is very flexible with scheduling.
The salon is clean and cute and I would recommend Steven to anyone!

On my first ever visit to this salon, I booked a partial highlight with Tracy. The color turned out great, and he had some wonderful thoughts about how to make it even better in the future. The reason for the 3 stars, is that I’m pretty disappointed in the $ 90 price tag, that DID NOT include a blow dry or style. I could have left my first appointment with a new colorist with wet hair, not knowing how it looked. Instead, I paid $ 35 for a «blow out» that I could have done myself. The stylist doing the blow out was awkward, uncomfortable, and felt unsure or not confident in what she was doing.
The color — great and worthy of 4 stars. The service, bang for your buck, and atmosphere gets 3 stars from me. I don’t think I will be back.

It’s true. A woman will follow a great colorist anywhere. That’s what I have done with Steven Marlin. I have gotten compliments on my hair color for the past 5 years which is always the most reliable type of «review». Besides lovin’ Steven’s coloring magic, I discovered stylist Clark Gary so now I don’t have to go to two salons anymore. Added bonus, The Hive vibe is relaxed and welcoming.

I have followed Taury Patterson over the last 3 years to cut my long hair. It’s very hard to find someone who can trim your long hair and give it style with layers that grow out nice. I highly recommend him.

Today was my first time at the hive and Tracy was recommended to me by a friend for hair color. He talked to me for about 10 minutes about what I would want. I really appreciated that he explained what he would do before starting. He was very friendly and they even set me up with someone for a blow dry although I never scheduled it. The place is cool and unpretentious. Clark, gave me a beautiful blow out. Excited to go backand happy about the results!

Not only did Kimberly make my hair look incredible while I was in the chair, but she gave my problematic limp, super fine hair an edgy haircut that falls into place with minimal effort on my part. I’m not good at doing my own hair, so this is a huge plus for me. I can tell it will grow out beautifully, and I still feel like a million bucks a month after my visit.

Where do I start I have been following Theresa Allen around for over 3 years now since I moved to Texas and she is the best! I’ve never had anyone be so Precise about cutting my hair weather I want my bangs perfectly straight or my hair layered, it’s perfect! Everytime! I also see her once a week for a blowout!

Also Jennifer has been amazing at doing my hair color in the last year she has brought me from black to blonde to brown then red and she has not sacrificed the integrity of my hair. she is always really helpful with anything I need and always fits me into her busy schedule. I’m grateful I have found her and the hive!

Here I go, five or more years later, and I’m still following Theresa Allen in her peripathetic travels across salon land in Dallas. Theresa has been the one constant in my life for– what — fifteen years? I’ve changed real estate brokers, family constellation, political parties, economic status, dentists, affections — hell, everything but my sex and my haircutter in those years — and Theresa is still the best. Flawless bob cut, done with laser precision at the Hive. She even comped me on my birthday.
And the new salon Hive is a breath of fresh air. Calm, cozy, but not cloying. Working hair professionals who respect one another and one anothers’ clients. You can find a parking space, probably get your dog groomed at the place two doors down, and even drop off that trunkload of items for Goodwill at the van in the corner of the parking lot. One stop everything, and your hair will look great. Guess I’m good for another five or ten years.
