I am a senior dental hygiene student at Baylor College of Dentistry looking for patients who qualify for my boards! This is a very important exam for graduation so I need someone who is reliable and flexible. To qualify you must have most of your natural teeth, and have not had a cleaning in 3 – 5 years. It’s been a while since I’ve been back. Unfortunately, every time I went, my diagnosis changed, and they added on other services, and extra charges, to the point that I was bled dry money wise. I discontinued treatment. Please do not trust their initial cost assessment. Double it, see if you can afford it, and act accordingly. It’s sad to say. I got to the point that I wondered if I was really saving money after all. Because — and this is just my opinion, I have no proof — I think they recommend procedures just so they can learn them. So they can get credit for doing them. They don’t have YOUR needs in mind, but the needs of what experience they have to get under their belt before graduation.

Not quite as «thrilled» w/​Baylor College of Dentistry as in beginning. .. .
After MONTHS trying to get in — finally doing so, only because of a referral from a private dentist.
1. They had me pay — in full — $ 872.00 (2 root canals)
BEFORE getting to see anyone!
2. My 1^st appt. @ 3:00pm — was delayed due to a emergency patient — coming in, so my allotted time was cut by 50 mins — thus resulting in NOTHING BEING DONE for lack of time — they close at 5:00pm.
3. I was instructed to make another — appt. BUT the «scheduler» at front desk had left for the day! (It was after 5:00)
4. Called @ 8:30am next morning to schedule another appt. — only to be told next available is in 2 ½ weeks!
At this time I voiced concern over $$$ paid up front, and was assured my monies were still there.
5. On the day of 2^nd appt. — I called to verify & ask if Dr.‘s were running on time — ONLY TO BE TOLD I DONT SHOW HAVING APPT!!!
I must confess, this didn’t set well — I told them — YES I DID — explaining my conversation with her, the exact person I’d spoke with, reminding her of circumstances! She finally admitted it was her mistake — she remembered me & our conversation
— but she failed to put me on books!
She apologize & told me, best she could do — next available appt would be in 3 wks!
I should have demanded my money back right then!
Because now I’m right in the middle of having the procedures done — PAINFUL, PAINFUL procedures — OH! they do not give any type of RX’s for PAIN & discomfort!
My gosh! This needs to be told up front, when your PAYING & also posted in each of the rooms — that your completely alone with the pain!
Telling me to take 4 ibuprofen every 4 hours is BULLS**t!
I’m so disappointed — in a lot of pain — and having to wait another 2 weeks for next appt.
¹⁰⁄₂₈ Getting angrier by the day! I’ve always known «you get what you pay for» and this place is a perfect example! Dealing with pain & infection totally COMPLETELY ALONE!!!

It’s best to get here 30 minutes before to park on the adjacent street with the meters (25 cents for 45 minutes) versus paying $ 4 or $ 5 at the all day parking.

I would absolutely recommend that anyone needing routine dental treatment or emergency treatment come be a patient here. The prices are about ½ −1÷3 of what you would find in private practice with the caveat being that it will take a longer amount of time/​more appointments to complete treatment. All dentistry is performed under the supervision of licensed dentists and the staff, faculty, and students are quality caring people.

This place is great! I have been going here for over a year and have had two student dentists in that time, and they were both very conscientious and knowledgeable. If they had any problems with what they are trying to do they immediately call over their supervisor, who is a very experienced dentist, to assist or take over. Everyone here is very concerned about providing the best care possible at the lowest price. They will tell you whether something really needs to be done or not. At Baylor you do not have to worry like you do with practicing dentists doing more work than is necessary so they can make more money off of you. Dentistry at Baylor costs less than half of what it would cost you getting care from a practicing dentist. That is about what you would pay if you had dental insurance, so basically you save whatever it costs to have good dental insurance (probably $ 2000+ every year.) An extreme example of how much you can save here is that I had an oral surgeon in Plano, TX really gouge me once by charging me $ 350 for a tooth extraction, at Baylor it was $ 22. Another great thing about this place is that you do not have to go to different locations for different work like you do in the outside world: whether you need cleaning, fillings, crowns, root canals, tooth extractions, bridges, implants, etc… all of the procedures can be performed by someone within the dental college.

Currently a student here and enjoy every day that I step foot in this place! Brings me great joy!
