Very enjoyable experience. Their customer service was top notch and both the tattoo artists and the guys working the register were funny and personable. Everyone in there made you feel calm and ready to receive your tattoo.
They were easy to talk to and provided very good suggestions if you asked. They answered any and all questions we had, and were very thorough on explaining how to care for the tattoo once it was done.
The rooms were clean and the artist showed us the clean needles and explained everything he was going to use. The pricing is about the same as many other tattoo places, with a base price of $ 80.
The tattoo turned out great! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone and we would go back there again.

I have gotten two tattoos here after eating at Pecan Lodge (definitely suggest hitting them up too while you’re on Main Street!!). Both are small and I took exactly the idea I wanted so all that had to be done was copying it to my skin. I had two different artists and sadly I cannot remember their names. the shop was clean and the artists were friendly. I watched everything be set up so I could verify the cleanliness. When I got both tattoos it was about 1pm when I walked into the shop so there was no wait at all.

I just went to get a dermal piercing.
I walked in and was taken away by the interior. It looks so unique! Definitely the prettiest studio I’ve ever been in.
We were greeted by the nice counter lady. I paid her, signed papers, and then waited for Tim.
Tim was a great guy. He didn’t care that I was a little hesitant and nervous. He marked me and gave me some really helpful advice to keep it from rejected (like it did the last time with a different piercer). He let me count to 10 and then he inserted the needle. IT was really quick and painless. He has a great personality and if I wanted anything else pierced, he’d be my go-​to man.
Price was standard for a dermal — $ 80 and he has a wide selection of jewelry. After care was extra — $ 5
oh and tip the man when you go!

I got my very first tattoo here. I have a real and terrible fear of needles so I was very anxious. Matt went above and beyond to ease my anxiety. Honestly, it could not have gone any better — he is a tattoo angel! Also, most importantly my tattoo is perfect and exactly what I wanted. Matt gets 5 stars!!! The only reason I took away a star is because Tim was very rude — actually he was down right mean to us. It would have been perfect except for his bad attitude. Maybe he was having a bad day?

The people were nice the guy seriously messed up my tattoo. All I asked for were two small hearts on my finger and the ink bled and now it looks terrible. I can’t believe that it is permanent.

I was really excited to get a tattoo here, I called 4 times and left my number for someone to call me back. I never received a call and never spoke to an artist. It forced me to look elsewhere. Disappointing, but it still seems likes a talented place, if I could get to anyone I would still consider it.

I got an Owl tattoo done by Cyle. He did an amazing job and it was very clean and everyone was super friendly and helpful. Will def be going back!

CYLE ROCKS!!! I came to this place recommended by a friend of mine. The shop is very upscale and every person I talked to in the shop were super nice and helpful. Cyle ended up being my artist, which I was really stoked about. And he did AMAZING. Really listened to what I had in mind and added his own creative flare to the tattoo! Very pleased and I will be back to see Cyle for my next tattoo!!! Highly recommend Cyle!

We were referred from Joey the cook at Tiggers as they were fully booked for the day, apparently sister companies. We walked in (one of the mixes tattoo shops I’ve seen) and they immediately took care of us, very courteous front staff and owner who was also there, very nice lady.
We were referred to Carlos for a pretty complex design and idea for a half arm sleeve. He took the elements of the idea and spent about an hour, came back with a draft that only need a couple of changes, incredible artist! Carlos exceeded expectations of what I had in mind, what a professional! First tattoo for me, not cheap but seeing what he did I have to say it is very reasonable. He also added two smaller ones for my wife which also came out perfect. I highly recommend the place, staff and Carlos.

Dusting off the ol’ Unilocal for a great experience this weekend at Taboo Tattoo. I recently finished yoga teacher training and some of the girls and I decided to commemorate this life changing event we’d get inked together. If nothing else, it will hold us accountable to continuing to yoga into our 80s so our tatts don’t get saggy :)
We couldn’t all agree on an artist or location we decided to meet in the Tattoo Capital of The World (or at least Dallas) Deep Ellum and do a tattoo pub crawl. We’d meet at a place, have drinks, then go to the next one, with someone getting inked along the way. This would allow us to check out different shops and meet different artists.
The first two places we stopped were your typical tattoo parlors, with tattoos you can get all over the walls, mostly flaming skulls and chinese characters (been there, done that in the 90s). I wasn’t turned off necessarily, because I thought that it just what ink shops look like.
Taboo was our 3^rd stop, and as soon as I walked in I knew this was my place. Beautiful art on the walls, a crystal chandelier, and velvet upholstered furniture in the lobby, and the best part — no one splayed out in a chair getting their family crest on their back. All tattooing is done in the back in little rooms with windows for friends to watch and give support.
Cyle (not Clyde, as I kept calling him) did my tiny tattoo (just the word «fly» on my wrist) and was super fast. It obviously hurt, but I am a huge baby and he put up with me so I have to give him credit for that. He wasn’t super talkative, but he was very accommodating, even applying the transfer in 2 different locations for me to determine where I wanted it. Did I mention he was also totally hot? That certainly makes it fun.
Highly recommend these guys, they were by far the best experience we had that day. I would definitely return for my next one, so hopefully my dream of winning the lottery so I can Angelina Jolie myself will come true sooner than later!

I tried going to Elm street tattoo for Friday the 13^th to find out that they wouldn’t be taking walk ins. I was disappointed as this has become more of tradition. We wandered down the street to see what else we could find and saw that Taboo had some options as well. There wasn’t a massive list to choose from, they weren’t $ 13, but there wasn’t a large wait either! So, I’ve decided to make a 13 tattoo in Deep Ellum my tradition instead of just at Elm Street.
I was tattooed by Carlos and found him charming, he kept up some conversation with me while trying to make sure I was as comfortable as I could be before continuing. He didn’t have a super heavy hand and the tattoo healed nicely.

Been going to Taboo for years. Biggs is one of the most talented artists in Dallas, and has done almost all of my sleeve work. I don’t live in Dallas any more, but always recommend him and his shop. The reviews online help get you a sense for places you’d like to visit, but your best bet is to actually go down to the shop, meet the artists, look at their work, talk to them, and make a decision for yourself. Not every artist does the same style of work, and only you can decide who’s right for you. Taboo is a great establishment with great artists. Go there, meet them, and find out for yourself.

Maybe 3 years ago I decided, while on a zombie walk, to try out Taboo since they were having a deal. I got just one «small» (ok it was like 3×4 inches) tattoo as my first one ever, on my shoulder. It was so brilliant I ended up getting a matching one on the other side a few months later. Over the past three years, I’ve had more additions and it’s now a large, framed piece covering most of my upper back, and it’s not finished yet. I guess my point is that it’s a testimony to the shop because they have continuously passed the test.
First time in and ever since, the guys are friendly and professional, the shop is clean and funky, both at the Deep Ellum location and the Bishop Arts/​Oak Cliff location.
Cody Biggs has done all the work on me and I’d have a really hard time going to anyone else. His eye for composition, his light touch (despite a few 2−4+ hr sessions) and his general artistry are just fantastic. Although I have come in a few times with more specific ideas, he’s Biggs-​ified them and made them kick-​ass. Then on the bits where I’ve just given him a vague idea of what I wanted, he’s been able to tie it in so cleanly with the rest of my work you’d never know it hadn’t been anything other than a large, planned piece.
The experience of the artists in both locations and their overall demeanor makes this place a pleasure to go into, and Biggs just makes me happy every time I see him because I know that I will walk out with more fabulousness on my body. Despite the intense-​ness of a couple of really long sessions, I will be back again soon to keep going. It’s just so amazing to be able to carry a local artist’s work on you forever.

A bit on the pricey side. Chill staff. Clean spacious environment. I just got my ears pierced and it didn’t hurt. Well, it was a little pinch and it was fast. I would recommend this place.

I got a piercing here about 10 years ago and felt they were clean and very professional. This time was no exception. I only got my ear (cartilage) pierced and she did a good job and was very quick.

Clean shop with nice artists! My friend got the same exact star tattoo behind her right ear, that I overpaid for at Elm Street Tattoo. She paid $ 30 less than I did :*(
I had my nose pierced here; the price and service were great.

So when the random pointed us down from Lucky’s to here, I was a little apprehensive, but the moment we walked in, it was a totally different experience. The walls had tattoo art on them, there were people actually doing something than looking at Youtube at the front desk, and the staff was actually pretty helpful and patient as we asked about pricing. Tim was the guy to pierce my friend that night and he was the coolest, funniest guy ever! He also helped me with an issue I was having with my now 11 year old belly piercing and gave me some helpful info as well as changed the bell out for me. RELIEF was an understatement… stupid mall kiosk 2 for 20 mall jewelry. Thanks Tim, NEVER again will I buy that «POS».
2 friends pierced and a replacement later, we left out all smiles, and very happy with our service! Saw something I may be interested in, and when I get the courage, Tim at Taboo… your gonna be my man!

ARRRRGH… I can not BELIEVE how different my second experience was compared to the first. I should have known something was up when the guy who mans the front desk said they had all just literally arrived back in town from New Orleans. I was anxious to discuss having the custom pin up of my mom done, but the whole attitude in the shop was Blah. I felt like one of those adults in a Charlie Brown cartoon… wah, wah, wah, waaaaah… and not one person was really listening to me. I should have left then… but nooooooo…
After looking at Flex’s initial draft of the design, I gave it the heave ho as it was very flat and seemed to have no depth. I had an alternative design ready, which really only required someone to follow the lines. The original drawing was of a Mexican girl with the Mexican flag draped around her shoulders. Very basic but classy. Unfortunately that was not what I got. Flex was definitely not up to his A game. The finished product was nice… from the neck down. I understand that tattoos are dicey… it’s not like a cold meal that can be heated up or getting an item free because your waiter was rude. You rolls the dice, yous takes yous chances. But to not even acknowledge my unhappiness with the design and insist on full payment was the kicker.
Taboo Tattoo is now on MY taboo list.

Mama’s got a brand new bag… er I mean tattoo… er I mean tattoos. The girls and I were ready to cause some mischief at the Minus the Bear show at HOB. We decided to start our night off by getting a couple permanent inks that we will regret when we are 80 and have saggy arms. We thought long and hard over what to get on the road down to Htown this past weekend, but could not think of anything.
«We should get a lyric!» cried Missy. Hmm, but which one? Though we all pretty much like the same kind of music, we could not decide on one band, and def not one song. I was thinking Johnny Cash and Neil Young, and Jen was thinking Dave Matthews and Oasis (though I love me some Oasis). This was not lookin’ good. Left to my own devices in the back seat, I played on the Internet a bit and still couldn’t find anything cool. I did think of something and scream it out jokingly, and the girls almost peed them selves with laughter. «How about 50% rock and 50% roll?» I laughed. Um no.
So we went through the weekend with nothing. We were determined to get something on Monday night though. Jen has two musical notes behind her ear, so we thought it would be a good idea to get three in a triangle… since we are the Golden Girls and all. We had all the intentions of doing that too until we go to the tattoo shop. We walked into Hold Fast because that was where we originally wanted to get it done. About a hundred people were in there so we decided to scoot on over to Taboo in Deep Ellum. (Don’t tell Bubba at Elm Street that I am cheating on him.)
We walked in and found Flex ready to party, but not before listening to a really really good song on the way there. Taking Back Sunday is one of my favorite bands and their song «Decade Under the Influence» is the bomb-​diggity. Sold! Let’s get the part of the chorus that sings, «To hell with you and all your friends…» Okay good. Now about the joke in the car earlier in the weekend… Well… we did that too. Because we are very silly Golden Girls.
Flex is the man. It barely hurt, his work is beautiful and he has great design ideas. Plus he was really nice. Thanks, duder. That’s gonna leave a mark…
Oh but we missed Minus The Bear in all the excitement. Jen, I will make it up to you I promise!
