They have sake flights. I repeat, they have sake flights. Sushi Zushi is definitely not on the top of my list of sushi places to go — there are definitely far better places with better quality fish but I’m also a hedonist for all things raw fish. There is a large variety of vegetarian options that my non meat or fish eating friends are very fond of and I can respect that. Most sushi joints will have one vegetarian friendly roll and call it a day so different strokes for different folks. However, as an avid fish eater, I want more. Sushi Zushi isn’t the worst sushi joint I’ve been to but it’s definitely not at the top. Come here for the sake flights and if you want to get some fish with your vegetarian friends but for all other occasions, just go to Uchi or Fujiyama instead.

Don’t be very hungry coming here. We waited over 30 min for two sushi rolls, then the couple seated for 10 min or less next to us got their rolls immediately. The manager stated he just called extra help on the sushi roll line. Understandable to a point, a courtesy notification would’ve went far. Not sure if we’ll return. We got a discount on the meal at the end.

Atmosphere: modern comfortable setting. Service: average Price: average Food: yummy yummy roll is average. Needed some acidity to it like a yellowtail. Jen roll was probably the best one– it’s a rainbow roll without avocado. The last roll i can’t remember the name but it had wayyyy too much daikon wrap around it that overwhelmed everything else. The fish is decent-sized and tasted good. They had a tonnnnn of menu options. Crab sunomuno is decent. The rolls were well made but overall not really … Wow. Don’t get the infused sakes– not so good. Most likely will try something else on the menu seeing as they have free delivery so willing to try diff items.

Disgusting bad quality sushi. The fish came out looking grayish and the avocado was brown. It was so unappetizing! Maybe get the veggie rolls or cooked fish rolls but everything else is a no. Also, given the terrible quality, the prices were not cheap!

This place is excellent! I took my date here on Monday night. It was our first date too and the entire staff was so accommodating. Feliza, our server, was on point and very sweet. We got a two-top outside and had a some great signature rolls. Thank you for an awesome evening and sorry for staying so late. We will definitely be back!

I go here on the reg. Food is excellent, but sometimes service can be a little slow. Try eating at the bar if you’re in a hurry! Also, make sure to do apps and dessert as well; they will not disappoint! For veggie friendly rolls, I had a friend of the owner suggest Godzilla and Monterrey subbing the fish/meat for vegetable tempura. Amazing. Highly recommend for good sushi!

The mall setting foreshadowed manufactured escape with hints of doom. $ 5 happy hour wines seemed to make sense in balancing out the happy hour food, around $ 4 each, which seemed misexecuted, gringo-ized and lacking in flavor. The waiter offered the tuna roll, without mayo. The tuna came dark coloured, like Darth Vader scary. I ate a few pieces only because I hadn’t eaten all day and stopped because it literally tasted like nothing. The seaweed octopus appetizer seemed equally less in quality than previous visits. The octopus tasted maybe packaged but still not so fresh. I feel like the quality of this place has gone downhill since my last visit to this location, which is odd since uptown seems bustling. $ 20 for a bottle of penfolds Chardonnay is a pretty good deal, but the $ 15 I spent on food I consider a good willed personal donation to this restaurants improvement. In comparison, recent visits to the sushi zushi location at Austin’s Domain, had much better quality food. The product is basically American sushi 101 for beginners. I prefer more authentic japanese, but normally the food here is decent enough with good happy hour prices.

Great selection… service needs some work. I have been coming to Sushi Zushi for several years now. I really like the new location on McKinney. It’s a nice place for cocktails, fine dining and socializing. I recommended it recently for a friend’s birthday. There were 9 of us and the service was so slow from the drinks, the to appetizers to the sushi. I expect sushi to be a bit slower, but edamame should never take 25 minutes to get to the table. The sushi was excellent in flavor and quality. The roll should have been rolled a little tighter to ensure that it would hold enough to dip in soy sauce. I really enjoyed the coconut mojito. It tasted very fresh and not overwhelmingly mint. I will go back, I am just not sure I would suggest it to friends right now due to the service. I had a much higher expectation of this place due to past experiences.

I’ve been here a few times. And my most recent time was probably my last. The service was horrible. It wasn’t busy that night as it was a rainy night, our waiter acted as f we were a bother and a hassle for even being there, service was extremely slow, she continued to give us undeserved attitude. Finally, we had ordered and eaten within the happy hour time and because she disappeared for 20 minutes when she came back with the check she charged is full price. A manager corrected it for us. The sushi wasn’t as good as I remember it being in the beginning either. There are several other way better options for sushi in Dallas where you don’t have to settle.

This is an okay sushi place. We mostly go here for the convenience as it is walking distance from where we live. The drinks aren’t strong so we always order the same bottle of white wine. However the following are our favorites and consistently good: spicy edamame, spicy tuna sunomono, razor salmon.

MISOHAPPYHOURHITSTHESPOT! You won’t find an extensive selection of their favorite rolls on the happy hour menu, but I ordered the following and it went above and beyond expectations. Gyoza Key West Roll: 6 pieces of refreshing sushi Spicy Tuna: 8 pieces of fresh spicy tuna Crawfish Dynamite: a small bowl of delicious crawfish that was perfect to top the sushi rolls Mussels Dynamite: 5 mussels baked with dynamite sauce all over them, awesome! The service was friendly and happy hour was beyond affordable(all of the above for $ 26). I’ll definitely be frequenting this restaurant.

I was really looking foward to going here after visiting the branch in San Antonio and having a great experience. Read the reviews and was surprised at how low scores they got but was sure that I would have a good experience. Boy was I disappointed. Rarely does service affect my reviews this negatively when the food is good. This was inexcusable. The waiter got orders wrong, we ordered mini versions and he brought full size, said he’d correct bill but did not. Had to place drinks orders a couple times before he put order in. He forgot menus and the last straw was that he flat out lied to us. We ordered the molten choc desert and it came cooked through so I enquired if that is how it was usually served. He said no and took it away and came back with the desert saying that the menu did not say molten. I said I was sure he did and he reiterated that it was not the case and so we could have it or he could take it away. Had a look at menu as we were leaving and indeed the menu said molten Won’t be back and would not recommend a visit here.

Zushi used to be my favorite sushi restaurant in Dallas, however I’ve had more than a couple negative experiences to keep me from going back. 1. I offered to pick up Sushi Zushi for my coworkers and I, and I wanted to call it in so I didn’t have to wait once I got there. I could not get anyone on the phone. I probably called over 20 times and it just kept ringing. I gave the excuse that it was lunch hour and they were probably busy– I got there and they we’re busy at all and there was a girl right by the phone. 2. My boyfriend and I called in sushi(I actually got them on the phone this time) And we got there and told them the order we were waiting for. Literally 20 minutes go by and we don’t have our order. I go up to ask where it is and they say they will go check on it. Another 15 minutes go by and they are completely ignoring us. My boyfriend goes to ask what is taking so long this time they again say they will go check. We then overhear them whispering and turns out no one had ever put our order in. They were fighting over who’s fault it was rather than putting our order in. Took 1 hour to get food even after calling 1 hour ahead. 3. That order we picked up above was 2 tuna towers. My boyfriend found a hair in his. We most likely won’t be going back.

Let me start by saying I spent over $ 100 on sushi and soup and I wouldn’t have fed it to a homeless person!!! I usually give my leftovers to the homeless and 5 rolls went into the garbage along with 1 container of soup! I despise wastefulness but as my family was beginning to feel ill after they had a few pieces I wasn’t going to force them to continue or share that with anyone! I will say that 1 roll out of the 6 we ordered was fine(not spectacular but edible and I did finish it) and one soup was also acceptable. Everything else went into the garbage. There was nothing spectacular with any food item and I would say what was eaten was average at best. I will not return here nor will I spend another penny to try it again. I will not recommend it to any friends or otherwise. There are plenty of other choices for sushi locally that I’ve had great experience with so I’ll stick to those. We only chose this place because we like to try different restaurants in the area since there are so many to choose from. I hate writing a bad review but I also hated spending so much money on garbage! I have read through many other reviews about this place and it doesn’t shock me that they are also not very impressed.

If I’m going to break my diet then it better be for something finger-licking good. I wish I could say this past weekend’s dinner date at Sushi Zushi didn’t disappoint… but it totally did. We took advantage of their happy hour and ample space on an early Saturday evening. I ordered a glass of chardonnay and we munched on a California roll and the Spicy Salmon roll. To be honest, I could have gotten it fresher, cheaper and tastier at my local supermarket. For dinner we ordered the Domain Roll and the Yummy Yummy Roll. Again– average but hardly memorable. We had our 8 year old nephew with us on date night, and they didn’t have many options for him to choose from, but I get it– that’s the area we live in… I will say that the waitress was helpful in getting us a few workable options that he could live with. He settled on a grilled chicken and curry option(which our waitress claimed was sweet, but wasn’t). Good but needed salt. He ate it though– so that was the most important part. Conclusion? Tad overpriced, and the food needs work to get me to return anytime soon. But the service was friendly and the space was great for us(and I’ve heard they are good for accommodating large groups).

Nothing special going on here. Walked in for the first time and ordered a to go… had to wait about 30 mins for the order to be ready. Place is clean, restroom is nice but the sensor on the sinks is hit or miss. I must say i do like the soy/ginger sauce that they make. Also, provided an adequate amount in the to go… taste was average. Not good/not bad… i really wouldn’t recommend given the price. Soooo much better taste, service and price for sushi in dallas… just keep walking…

The food is delicious! Such an extensive menu that there is something for everyone. In the past the service was very slow, but the last two times we ate there — service was very good. Management stepped up and made some much needed changes. The food is too good to have service be a reason to eat somewhere else. Keep up the good service and we’ll eat there often!

Service was a bit slow when I arrived and there were barely any people in the restaurant but my meal arrived quickly. I got the tuna sashimi and California –lunch special– roll. The tuna was decent(nothing to rave about and the California roll was good.) There was not enough ginger for my taste and the wasabi was not very strong. I had to use more than I normally would had it been fresher. If I could give this place 3.5 stars I would have but because Unilocal doesn’t have that option I was in a good mood and gave them 4 instead. All in all this place is good if you really need to have some sushi tout de suite, but if you’re a huge sushi fan and must have the best this place should be avoided.

Good food, pretty good service. Not the best sushi I have ever had but it’s not bad for a land locked city. Great selection of food and choices, Great menu layout, and good atmosphere. Can get a little noisy later in the evening but generally quieter before 6:30/7.

This place has one of the best Sushis in town. The ambience is great, looks very upscale. it has outdoor seating too. so, on a day with perfect weather., nothing like Sushi Zushi! The waiters are very friendly &other food is exceptional. they serve the great sushi for reasonable prices, but with the best quality. We went on a Friday night for dinner with a couple of friends and had a good time.

I’m actually a pretty big fan of this place. Prices are really decent, HH is everyday from 3pm-7pm, AND you can sit anywhere in the restaurant to get the HH prices, which I think is awesome! The menu is pretty extensive and there are TONS of rolls to choose from. The signature rolls are awesome and the Cosimo and Bora Bora rolls are my favorite. Next time I’m going to try the strawberry roll. The HH menu is pretty good as well. There are literally 15 drinks that are $ 5 and their cocktails are pretty good! They have a few apps and sushi rolls on the HH menu too, but they are mostly the traditional rolls(california, spicy tuna/salmon, etc). Overall, fun place to grab a drink/roll with your girlfriends or a quick date before shopping in west village!

Great happy hour pricing combined with superb service grab a bunch of friends and come on down. I enjoyed a large craft of Hot sake that literally permeated the senses left a wonderful warm taste just marvelous and when I got the bill I actually asked the bartender are you sure the tab was $ 3.24. My entire party had equally pleasing bills, as the prices are just fantastic during happy hour. As for the service all the bartenders are great but I have to give props to Jessica. She juggled 10 people multiple different tabs multiple moving different seats with a smile highly engaging this is a tremendous asset. She kept the drinks flowing without being pushy really engaged each of us and all of us collectively. We got there between 5 and 6PM, and had a fabulous time all the way through till about 715730 as many of us had additional plans this evening. If you didn’t know about the happy hour now you do really should get there. Yes stop reading this and go. It’s worth it!

Please save yourself the trouble and keep moving. Food: soba and mochi ice cream. The soba was not cold, the soba was not warm. Idk which is suppose to be, but it was not good. The dipping sauce was miso broth and the noodles were just some packaged noodles. While there is nothing wrong with package noodles, I do really appreciate it if you cooked it properly. Soba needs to be rinsed and washed in cold water to help with the sticking, but these was just one large mass. The mochi ice cream was okay for 2⁄3 of them. I ordered vanilla, red bean and mango. Mochi is like a mixture of a marshmellow and a gummy bear, so it is stretchy and such. When I first bit into the vanilla mochi, it was not good. I don’t really know how to describe it other than it was like gritty. I had to spit it out. When i touched the mochi, it broke apart. It was old, or it got freezer burn or something, but whoever sliced the mochi should have noticed this. It should not have been served to me. The other mochi was fine, the flavor was okay and the mochi was decent. While I understand that this is not in house mochi, and it is bought and they properly just cut before serving. The chef should have noticed something wrong with it before serving. Would not come back.

Their happy hour is great, and the place was almost empty on a random weeknight. $ 3.50 wells, $ 5 wines by the glass, $ 3 hot sake, and a variety of reasonably priced appetizer size rolls and other things. I had the tampa bay musubi, a salmon roll, and a seaweed salad. The best of the three was the seaweed salad, by far. The portion size was good, and it wasn’t overly fishy tasting. The salmon roll was fine. Nothing to write home about. Didn’t taste off or anything. The tampa bay musubi, for those of you who have no idea what it is, is sushi rice squeezed into a triangle with crab and mayo sauce inside. The rice was kind of dry, and the innards didn’t have much flavor. I can’t say that this musubi wasn’t made to order, it just didn’t taste like much, which was disappointing. Again though, at $ 4 I don’t feel like I was horribly cheated. I just wouldn’t order it again. Disclaimer: the workout place next door has a sort of group fitness class that works out in the hallway between the restaurant and its entrance so if you sit inside, or even moreso if you sit on the side patio in that hallway, you will be watching a bunch of sweaty people lift medicine balls and do lunges up and down the walkway while you dine.

I have no idea what I ate but this is not sushi. Went here for a friends birthday and the server sucked so bad we been here for an hour and this guy avoided our table bc he knew he messed up. Never did he check on us and when we received our food it was terrible sushi! Tasted like something you get at the grocery store! I got the salmon musubi and it was two piles of rice with over cooked salmon. I ordered yellow tail roll and Scandinavian roll and I’m literally so confused what this was about. We also ordered birthday drinks and it was so strong as if the bartender didn’t know what his job was like a lemon drop tasted horrid. I also ordered a meat dish and only came with two pieces of beef and a whole lot of chicken and two measly shrimps. So if you wanna eat Kroger style sushi this is the place for you!

Convenient location and friendly but most of the time slow staff. My friends and I from work have been in quite a few times and can never get out in less than a hour and half even when the restaurant is basically empty(maybe 3 – 4 other tables). The rolls are good but fairly pricey even for something that I think of as standard and their menu is EXTENSIVE. By extensive I mean hugely outrageous — I can’t even focus enough to read the descriptions of one page before I forget about all of those by reading the next. Also, no pictures in the menu which is essential for me as a visual person making decisions. Also, I think they have a fruit fly problem… every single time we go there is always 1 – 2 fruit flies that we just cannot get rid of. We mentioned the problem to the manager two times ago and still every time there are flies. We always sit in the booths by the back sushi bar so maybe that is the only spot with the problem. They do have a frequent buyer program for but it is not very well designed or publicized. After 4 visits here we finally saw something mention it inside of our check holder but no server had ever mentioned it and no way to get past points — drats! I signed up but you can only view points online on their website and not at the register when they check you out… how do I know when I have enough points for discounts? The sushi is good and pretty fresh… love the Cosimo roll. Its pretty ok if you’re ready for some heavy reading.

Incredibly inconsistent in their portions. The first time I ordered a salmon don for delivery it was great! Wonderful portion and great quality. A few days later we decided to dine-in and we ordered the same dish but it came out with almost half the amount of salmon from my original order. I asked the server if she had mistaken my order for a mini-don instead of the full one but she said no. We chalked that day up to a mistake or a very stingy chef. Today my husband and I decided that maybe the 2nd order was a fluke so we ordered the salmon don for pick up and I swear this 3rd time was even less salmon than from our 2nd visit. If you look on their website there is a photo of a pretty generous portion of salmon don but what we ended up getting in our last two orders was not even close. Sushi Zushi, we like the quality of your food but I don’t think I’ll return b/c I feel a little ripped-off by you and we’d like you to know that consistency is key in a good business.

Went on a Friday night with some friends in Dallas who wants sushi the last weekend of February 2015. It was a close walk, which was nice. We had a reservation, but still ended up awkwardly standing around for a few moments despite a lot of table and service capacity. The waiter that served us was in training, so he had a hostess helping him out, which was not that unpleasant of an experience because the hostess was great. But it took us more than an hour to get our appetizers, and another half hour to get our sushi. At the end of the already long meal, the waiter in training came out to apologize that a roll my friend ordered got lost /backed up too much, and asked id it was okay to cancel it. By that time, we were ready to leave. I ended up getting vegetarian gyoza and two vegetarian rolls. The dietary-restriction notes in the menu are pretty clear, which was also helpful. The food, for being $ 10-$ 20 sushi, was not very good, as in, definitely catering to a cheese/creamy/heavy-loving palette. It amazes me that a place like Uchi can make $ 10 – 15 vegetarian rolls and other sushi spots haven’t quite figured it out yet!

I’ve been to Sushi Zushi many times since they opened in their new location in West Village from Oaklawn. I must say that I much prefer the old location due to the interior design of that one, as well as the quality of the food. This new location has gone down in not only the quality of their sushi, but their service too. We sat at the bar once to wait on our table, and the two bartenders took forever to ask us if we wanted to order drinks. Then, it took them even longer to make our drinks. As far as the sushi goes, my favorite rolls are the LIR Roll, Strawberry Roll, and Godzilla Roll. The Cosmopolitan Roll is another roll that I like when wanting something different with a crunch. Sushi Zushi has a really big menu that offers something for everyone, as well as a pretty good Happy Hour. But, I do think there are better sushi restaurants in the area for overall appeal.
