The center staff were prompt, professional, and prepared. You can’t go wrong with the 3 p’s. They worked hard to accommodate all the guest up until the start of the show. My daughter and I enjoyed the play«Mississippi Goddamn» from the front row. The theater is quaint but not at all cramped. So had we not been on the front row it would not have mattered. The rawness of the content paired with comedic breaths helped to lighten the mood of the play without making a mockery of such an important perspective on history. The play made you think about sides of the civil rights struggle that most people never think about but most certainly don’t discuss. It stirred up questions in me that I had never pondered. But isn’t that what art is supposed to do. At least for me it is. Headline: I will definitely be back to the South Dallas Cultural Center in the hopes that all of my visits will be as pleasant and thought provoking.

I saw the play, Mississippi Goddam,” Sunday night and give it an excellent rating! I learned a different side of the Civil Rights Movement even though I had lived in those times. Totally different view of Medgar Evers’ activism and more importantly, the lack of support his African American neighbors afforded him. In fact, they were opponents! Never knew this! Wonderful acting and direction. A must see! The facility is a magnificently upgraded center from the modest beginnings of the SDCC, which I supported in the 80s. Clean, shiny and with purpose! Totally recommend this art oasis!

I came here last night for a benefit concert that one of my students was giving in the hopes of raising enough money to be able to attend a prestigious music camp in NYC next summer. It was such an amazing performance by my very musically talented students. I think this center is wonderful space that offers the creatively and culturally inclined and interested a venue and display their talents or learn more. There seemed to be all of the resources and materials needed to host public events and anything that an artist would need to perform. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list to be current on their wonderful cultural exhibits and programs.
