The ribs and the sliced beef were very heavily smoked. It tasted like the fire had been started with a petroleum-based fire starter and that after taste was picked up by the smoke. The onion rings were frozen(not home made) then deep fried on location. I was also shocked at the price(high) considering you were for the most part, dining in a convenience store. In addition, the meat was still tough and needed additional cooking time to properly break it down. I was curious what the gumbo tasted like since they had already run out but I wouldn’t waste my time on the BBQ again. Dickey’s has far better flavor and value. PS All I can say about«Charles C.» above is that he must be from New Jersey or a member of the owner’s immediate family.

This may have been good the day it was cooked, but I’m sure that had to be a couple days ago. As others have written good bark but no bite.

Never again! Smokie’s is not an appetizing interpretation of barbecue. I came just before closing, but i would rather them turn me away, than serve me bad meat and overcooked, microwaved sides. They drowned the meat in a very loose and bland sauce. Service was cold and they came off annoyed and bothered. I had an Amazon deal and I still feel that I didn’t get my money’s worth.

From the outside, it doesn’t look like a BBQ place, but these are the best kind of places! For the price you’re paying for, it is well worth it! I received my order in about 5 minutes; I got the ribs with 2 sides(potato salad and onion rings), and I was happy that this place was my first Texan BBQ experience.

Loved this little place! Food was so flavorful and prices were so reasonable. We got the 3 meat plate – with ribs, brisket and sausage. Everything tasted fresh and topped with the spicy BBQ sauce – perfection. I got the green beans as a side and it was seasoned just right. Hubby got the baked beans and potato salad that he enjoyed! For dessert we got strawberry cake and Coconut pie – delectable! Definitely don’t skip dessert! This place is quaint and felt like a good southern home cooked meal! We loved it.

Delicious barbecue prepared by the owner himself every day. I had Smokies catered for a work event of 65 people. Most of the people are used to having Hard Eight Bbq or something similar catered. Everyone was blown away by how good the food was and especially the peach cobbler at the end. I highly recommend the chicken, brisket or the sausage. The potato salad was creamy and perfect. Green beans have a hint of spice and defiantly not your average green bean. Mr Smokie himself served all the food so that it was portioned correctly, but we still had lots of leftovers. I highly recommend Smokies barbecue to anyone tired of your average Bbq restaurant.

Saw some bad reviews, decided to judge for myself. I ordered sausage, brisket, ribs, corn, green beans, and Okra. Ordering by phone went as you would expect. Phone was answered quickly and politely. Asked some questions about how I could order, put it in, swapped card info, gave them my apartment address. Delivery took about 45 – 50 minutes, as I was quoted when placing it. Spot on. Driver was friendly, an older gentleman. He wished us a happy holiday, and was very nice. Now, the food. Brisket is soft, sauce is tangy but not overpowering. Sausage is tender inside, mildly spicy, with a nice bit of toughness outside as you’d expect and want. Ribs. Are. Amazing. Okra was a bit soft, might have been undercooked, but still nice. Corn was good, though one ear was a bit drier than the other three. Green beans are great, not the store bought variety. Came with some nice soft rolls, which were still warm. Also came with sauce on the side in case what they heap isn’t enough. All in all, I’ll order here again. The family meal#2 is worth the price.

This is another example of a barbecue place that you typically drive-by and never give notice to. I stopped here one day to get a soda because it doubles as a convenience store and couldn’t help but notice the heavenly smell coming from the barbecue counter. This is probably my second favorite barbecue place in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex the price is very reasonable and I recommend it to anybody who loves good brisket. I Believe this is one of those places where the owner does most of the cooking himself and has a true passion for it.

He is a good pit man as the smokey flavor and sauce are very good. BUTTHEREISNOVALUE. Portions are small and price is high. There’s one price on the board menu and then hand written paper signs everywhere advertising specials but the price is even higher for the same thing. They used to let you see the prep. Now they have everything hidden. The buns are not much bigger than you’d get sliders on and all u taste is bread and sauce due to so little meat. I eat BBQ all over and know what is expected. I have tried them three times. First time the man was there and I got what i ordered even though skimpy portions. He was friendly and you could tell he wanted more for his family than just a pay check. Next 2 times the wife was there and i ordered 2 meat sandwich sliced beef with fat and brown and sausage. I got chopped. This place could be great as he is a great bbq guy. Make a decision if your a food stop and clean it up and give your customer something to remember. Quit acting like your watching pennies.

This place is another just ok spot. It’s a convienice store and gas station and BBQ place in one. The service was good. I ordered a baked potato with BBQ brisket and cheese and butter. It was ok but not fantastic. I have had better.

I will never order from this place!!! I was yelled at by the delivery and also appears to be owner or manager because he couldn’t find my apartment. I put the address that IS my building and the address I use for every other delivery. Apparently their online ordering didn’t give them my number so I got a confusing email to call them. When I did call it wasn’t answered then I was called back and asked for the address. Apparently I’m in the wrong and got yelled at for them not understanding my address and name of my apartment and that THEIR system didn’t provide my number which I provided when I ordered. He then proceeded to tell me I was a burden and when I mentioned getting a refund he agreed and have me no other option. I have never had a worse experience or been so disrespected by a restaurant, specifically, one I had already paid!!! HORRIBLEEXPERIENCEANDCUSTOMERSERVICE!

After driving by Smokie’s BBQ every day to and from work for almost two years, I decided to check it out. Gnats were swarming us as we ate so we were constantly swatting the air, the chopped beef sandwich was served with burnt meat(and tasted burnt), and my pork ribs were scarcely covered by meat. We ordered three BBQ rib dinners, a chopped beef sandwich, and three iced teas and paid over 46! I’ve never posted a review until now. That should speak volumes.

I don’t even know where to begin. The passion must be gone. First, the lady preparing my meal of death was very nice and friendly. She smiled and we talked a little while she carefully arranged the jerky-like brisket. Woosah. I ordered the brisket and sausage and my 2 sides were onion rings and green beans. The rings were frozen and went straight into some questionable oil. They turned out to be too brown, so I’m thinking old oil? The outside was near burnt but the middle was nice and soggy. I didn’t even eat all of them and I ALWAYS eat my fried foods, damnit! The canned green beans were already pre-packed into the little Styrofoam containers and was nuked in the microwaved until the container almost melted. And then the meat… Let me tell you ’bout dis meat… The woman pulls out a tray with a new brisket sitting in a lot of liquid. It didn’t look fresh, man. The brisket and sausage were sliced and then placed into a to go box for a second and then the nice lady(she really was sweet) decides to take it back out of the to go box and put everything on a used plate. Like, it wasn’t kinda used. It looked like 3 or 4 of those cheap paper plates that had old juice from who knows how long just soaked into it and then that was all shoved into the microwave. «Do you want spicy or mild sauce?» HAHA! It doesn’t even matter at this point. You mind as well just squirt some ketchup and call it artisanal bbq sauce. Give me spicy, why the hell not? I paid up front. That’s how they getcha! She puts enough sauce to make make my jerky float to the top. I get into my car and I just stare off into the distance for a sec contemplating all my poor decisions lately. Then I decided to try a few bites of everything. The brisket was so dry. Incredibly dry and with a really heavy smoke flavor that tasted artificial somehow. I can’t even explain it. Maybe they dunked the whole brisket into a gallon of that liquid smoke stuff to marinate for a few months but that’s what I’m going to be tasting for the rest of my life. I truly feel like maybe at one point this place was legit but maybe something happened to where money got tight and they had to start cutting corners. This isn’t bbq. How dare you call this bbq?

I got the four meat plate with chicken, ribs, sausage, and brisket. Served with two sides and a slice of white bread. I had the spicy sauce on the side. I thought it was good. Ribs fell of the bone, chicken and sausage were good. I usually don’t get brisket, as it is not a favorite of mine, but it was very good. Juicy and flavorful. Maybe the best brisket I have ever had. I think Smokie changed my mind about brisket. Haven’t tried the pulled pork yet(my wife’s favorite) but we will on a second visit very soon.

I love BBQ. Had some of the best. This ain’t it. Nice people, so I don’t enjoy writing this. First off, you know your BBQ isn’t going to be any good when they pour the sauce on it before you even get it. As some others have described, the sauce is a sweet tomatoey based thin sauce. Tastes a lot like the commercial sauce«Open Pit BBQ Sauce.» The brisket had no smoke ring that i could see. Not sure how they cooked the meat. I suspect that it was baked in an oven instead of on a true smoker. It was overcooked and rubbery. Not a lot of flavor except the slathering of sauce. The sides were not that great. Okra was heavily breaded. Not a tremendous amount of flavor. The baked beans tasted like they were from a can. Overall, nice people but it doesn’t feel like they have any passion about their food and it shows.

We could not find this place at first because the sign says«Shop and Eat» or something instead of Smokie’s Bar B-Q. If they just change that big sign out front, I’m 100% sure they’d get more customers. As of now, it just has a giant smoker out front and another sign up high in front of the building. It looks like a convenience store. Go in. There are cute family-feel style picnic tables inside. When you walk in, you order straight in, near the back. Then sit at the tables in the more open area on the right. I got the ribs sandwich and my brother got the brisket and ribs. In hind sight, next time I’ll get the brisket because the ribs still had bones in them and for a sandwich, that doesn’t quite work because you end up having to take the ribs out of the sandwich and spitting out the bones and by then, it’s too late to put them back in the bread pieces… I mean, they were good, it was just a hassle to eat. Anyway, brisket was pretty good and the sauce was pretty good. Not the BESTBBQ I’ve had, but still enjoyed it. Also got the buttermilk pie and pecan pie. Both were warm and delicious. I wish we weren’t so full so that we could actually finish both pies. Talked to the cook for a bit who was very friendly and overall service was great. Felt very comfortable. Definitely worth a visit.

First time. Since I always try to say something positive, here it is: even though this was in a convenience store, they bring your food to the table on an actual plate(not paper or plastic) with actual metal utensils.(I hate trying to eat BBQ with plastics.) Also, the meats(brisket, ribs, sausage) were cooked perfectly. The brisket was tender, the ribs were not fall-off-the bone, but were meaty. The store itself is a funky, cool place with items you won’t find in a lot of other places. I mean, where else can you get Peri Peri and Vegemite along side your ‘cue? The lady serving up the goods was sweet, and works hard. Very cheerful and helpful. OK. Now for the not so good news: how on earth do you get bark on your ‘cue without any flavor? The brisket and ribs both had bark that I couldn’t WAIT to get into my face, but there was no smoke, no flavor, no nose. And the sauce… sorry, kids but that stuff ain’t sauce. More like a tomato-y gravy with a little chili powder and paprika thrown in. And it was thickened with corn starch(not kidding). So, if you venture into this place, skip the sauce or get it on the side. You should not be able to see through BBQ sauce. On to the sides. I had okra, which was the frozen breaded kind, and cooked to within an inch of its life. No flavor there, either. The beans were straight from the can, heated on the stove and stirred up a bit. Way too sweet; needed some attitude. Corn on the cob was a half-cob, cooked way, way too long and flavorless as well. The meats need flavor, the sauce needs to be, well, sauce and not gravy, and the sides need a little work. Other than that, though…
