I’m so glad my husband and I worked with Shawn when financing our first home! He kept the process simple and was quick to take my calls and answer my questions. Having heard many horror stories about getting a loan, I wanted to make sure my husband and I worked with someone who understood our needs and could offer advice that was best for our family. I had asked my agent to submit a list of names for me to research. Shawn and one other lendor made the short list so I called them both to see what they could do for me. Shawn is far more deserving than 5 measly stars — but I digress! I found Shawn on Unilocal after dealing with multiple lenders who soon lost interest in securing a loan for my husband and I as we are a complicated, nontraditional situation (self employed).
When my husband was ready to give up on the process I begged for one more attempt and that is when we called Shawn. We are both so glad we did! Shawn and his amazing staff (shout out to Lauren and the rest of the crew) immediately got to work. They were available to answer our questions and even worked late nights (we had calls at 8:30 PM providing us updates and answering questions) to help us secure our loan as soon as possible, at a great rate.
Shawn was a very personable individual and an even better mortgage lender. He re-​invigorated our view on mortgage lenders; I was so impressed I have called real estate agents I know to give them the heads up if they need a top-​notch lender, that will make them look like all stars to their clients, Shawn is their guy.

Shawn was my fifth mortgage professional I worked with. I wish he were first. But, as the life goes, everything happens for a reason. I guess I had to find out how incredibly messed up the home financing market is to really appreciate Shawn Fehily and his crew.
So everything started with me wanting, well, scratch that, NEEDING to refinance my house. I had a flexible loan and numerous accounts to pay off. I knew that my house had appreciated enough to cover those accounts. I knew that I earned enough to qualify for refinancing if money moving game would be played just right. That «just right» — as I have found out after several failed attempts — depended on your loan company and the mortgage broker you work with.
I started out with my bank, Wells Fargo. Why? Because I had this silly notion in my head that loyalty matters (I had been their customer for 15 years after all!). After 3 failed attempts I was finally told that they, pretty much, work only with unicorns that don’t have revolving debt or car loans to cover.
After a few wasted months I moved on to Texas Trust Credit Union. This time around I did some research and TTCU had really, really nice ratings. So… I applied. I waited patiently for they lagging calls and emails. I held my tongue back when my loan officer wouldn’t get back to me for days. I did everything they asked of me and… I was approved. And then came the appraisal. And the ancient gentleman who stopped by my house to evaluate it send back his «informed» value of my house. That value was $ 25,000 below market’s. How did this happen? Because he compared my property to the houses in a completely different location. I pointed this out to TTCU. And I was told that my appeal doesn’t matter and that that low, made-​up value stays.
I had to start from square one.
Out of all the places, I have discovered Shawn right here, on Unilocal.He had awesome and seemingly genuine reviews. He worked with PrimeLending — a company that also had tons of great reviews. So, I put two and two together and gave Shawn a call… Three and a half weeks later I closed my loan and the conditions of my refinancing gig were beyond my wildest expectations.
So, what was so special and different about my last experience and what I would definitely look for if I were to search for another financial gig?
1. Shawn knows his stuff, which, sadly, is not always the case.
2. He doesn’t take NO for an answer and is ready fight for his customers
3. He and his crew act professionally (meaning, you always know where you are and what you need to do).
4. He works for a company that doesn’t have too much red tape.
5. And did I mention that Shawn is always upbeat and easy to talk to?
So, if you are shopping around for a mortgage or refinance, give him a call. At the very least you will have a pleasant conversation.
And yes, Shawn did pay me to write all this great stuff about him. He payed me by changing financial life of my family from living from paycheck to paycheck to living a comfortable, stress-​free life. Well, almost stress-​free, because one can always find something to stress about!

I recently was in the market to buy a new home. I have had 3 homes before, but had no idea that the market had changed so much in just a few years. I thought I knew everything from the last times. Gosh was I wrong, everything has changed.
