NEGATIVE 5 STARS if I could. I am GLAD that they went out of business! This company was a NIGHTMARE! Brenda Howard was a liar and extremely unprofessional! I used to leave messages and they would never return any of my calls. Sent me numerous letters and fines that was actually caused by another unit. Amanda Hilton was a fake! I came to drop my dues at their Quorum office and requested to speak to her as she kept avoiding my calls as to about broken and falling apart fence and also of the rat infestation issues around the complex. The receptionist paged her and I could hear her on the other line telling the receptionist that if that is «so and so, tell her that I am not in the office and have her lawyer contact me.» She must have mistaken me for another tenant who sued them! I told the receptionist that I haven’t sued them… YET, but they really needed to straighten the issues out. Receptionist kept saying she is out of the office when I knew she was sitting at her desk, probably eating DONUTS and gulping down cocktails using our HOA funds.
This behavior of treating the tenants was PURE DISGUST as they did not have ounce of customer service skill! Our gate kept breaking down and it would take them over 2 weeks to have it fixed! We had many transients coming into our community and cars kept getting broken into because they pocketed our HOA money for their botox, plastic surgeries, fillers, and God knows what else!!! They shouldn’t be called Select Management but instead as LACK MANAGEMENT!!!

If your HOA was using Select, you might consider trying to have your HOA’s books audited.
We had a townhouse in Addison Circle managed by Select. After several large insurance claims, our insurer said they wouldn’t cover future claims because Select was negligent in maintaining the exterior of the property (which I unfortunately agree with.) We had to sell the property at a huge loss (most of our retirement) because neither our insurance nor the HOA’s insurance would continue to cover us. (Thanks, Texas, for protecting businesses from efficiency-​killing regulation!)
On several occasions we submitted third-​party repair estimates to Select, but when we later saw what Select was paying their own repair company, the bill was 2x to 5x the market rate. Our HOA was aware of the discrepancy but didn’t seem phased. Technically there’s nothing illegal about that (that’s called «managerial discretion») though if you could document any kickbacks to your HOA, that might be worth calling a lawyer about.
I do want to personally thank Select Management for teaching me the most expensive lesson I’ve ever had the privilege to learn: NEVER buy a condo in Texas.

This may be the least useful time for a review, but I just received a notice from my HOA that «Select Management Company abruptly ceased operations on Thursday, January 22, 2015.» I never saw the effect of any of their work. Our HOA does a good job and I suspect made up for any of their shortcomings by taking care of things on their own personal time. I generally dislike large contract management companies, so I’m happy to give them only one star, and as they are now insolvent, I have no ethical qualms with doing so. I suppose this is more of an informative post than a review.

Terrible. Recently moved into my condo and all I’ve pretty much received are responses that lead to nothing (which sounds like more than some others have received). I’ve contacted them multiple times and I basically had to contact everyone within the company and copy my own HOA to get anywhere.
To be honest, I’m not sure why I’m writing this review because I just heard that the company has gone out of business and everyone has been let go. This is what happens when you operate a lazy business– it breeds lazy employees and eventually, everything goes under. I’d say I’m sad for the employees, but they were a large part of the problem and I don’t think the leadership did anything about it. So– good riddance Select!

This has to be the most unorganized group of people I have ever seen! No grilling in the ally, keep garage doors closed, etc… Worst HOA and management company that I have felt with!

Are we able to show negative stars? Worst property management company I have ever been associated with. Starting with the owner down, their lack of communication, professionalism, follow up, attention to details, poor educated staff, etc… rates them negative stars. Unfortunetly, they are under contract with our HOA and cannot wait for it to be over. Love hearing from owners in the community… I want to sell my house so I don’t have to deal with Select Management is music to my ears. If you are on an HOA board, please run the other way. I rate them negative stars!

If I could giveSelect Management 0 stars I would. This is the worse management company I have ever dealt with. We have lived at Lifescape Villas on Montfort for over 6 years. We have been without power for 9 days due to a power surge that blew up the electrical panel on the outside of our building. We called the fire department and they came out & removed the cover on the electrical panel to make sure the fire was out. They couldn’t put the cover back on as the wires were exposed & the power was still on which would’ve been a fire hazard. We contacted the management company about the issue that night. It took Select Management 3 days to come check on the problem. The wires were completely exposed & still live for 3 days. Someone could have been killed if they had touched the exposed wires. When Joe with Select Mgmt finally came out to meet the electrician he was rude, evasive & was not able to answer any of our questions. Joe left & the electrician explained what would need to be done to repair the problem. Oncor was contacted that night & they came out & turned off the power. Joe with Select Management was there at the time but made no attempt to contact the other tenants in our building. We went to our neighbors & explained why their power was out & what was going on. Select Management has not called or come by to update anyone in our building. We have called & tried to get answers but just get the run-​around. The only way we have been able to get any answers is from the electrician. We were told 3 days ago that the work did not pass inspection because they put the original panel back that had a big hole in it from the fire. We are still without power and have yet to hear from ANYONE at Select Management. They should at least call or come by & leave a note or something. This company is the worse management company I have ever dealt with & would not recommend them to anyone! They do not return calls & do not care about the safety of their tenants. I do not recommend anyone move to Lifescape Villas.

Absolutely worthless management. Where did the homeowner’s HOA money go???

ZERO STARS for them. They are rude, rude, rude. We bought a townhome in the Addison Circle area in March and this HOA Company has been a huge headache for us and our neighbors. If I would have known what I nightmare this HOA was going to be; I would not have bought in this area. They will only send nasty letters to you when you are not in compliance with their ridiculous HOA rules. These letters are confusing. But if you call and ask for clarification they give a lot of attitude and basically tell you that are you not complying with the rules and you are in violation. We have received 2 letters in the 7 months we have lived here. One was for a very small garden decoration that on our front patio. They claimed it got in the way of the landscapers — it wasn’t near the grass at all or in the way at all. The other letter was saying that our balcony is cluttered with storage items. WHAT??? We only have patio furniture and a grill. How is that clutter? And on top of all of this, we received a 3^rd letter stating we were delinquent in paying for our HOA dues. I have the payment on an automatic bank draft to pay out on the 22^nd of each month. Apparently the HOA dues are supposed to come on in the 10^th of each month. Which according to them, was clearly laid out in our welcome packet. But it took them 7 months to notify us of this discrepancy. But they have been charging us interest, late fees, and admin fees for the entire period. How convenient! When I called to get this straightened out, they were very unhelpful and rude. The most they could do was to waive the interest and late fees. But we are stuck with the steep admin fees. They blame the «board» for everything and use it as an excuse to be very rude. In addition to all of this, they do a terrible job of maintaining the property. And their «pest control» efforts are a joke. We have had a lot of problems with cockroaches. I ended up just paying for an exterminator myself because they refused to take care of it. There is also a huge mosquito problem and they refuse to take care of that as well. BOTTOM LINE: Do not buy a townhome in Addison Circle Texas — unless you want to put up with this BS.

Totally agree with all previous comments… Select Management is a JOKE. But when you are paying your money/​HOA dues and no service– the JOKE is not funny at all! I stop going to the meeting — they have a cover up for every thing. I myself and my husband has called so many times — and like many other’s never a call back from them. the guy that attended our HOA meetings from Select M. asked for us to send in pic’s of the problems in the neighborhood! And we did — but no follow up and still a year later and the same problems — with the same people — and when new problems within the Subd has started. Even the people that’s on the HOA board in the subd homes are in need of new fence, hmes need painting, trees need trim etc… Major Problem for some of us that’s paying HOA dues — for a nice neighborhood. WHY ARE YOU TAKING OUR MONEY AND NO SERVICES? It’s not our job to police the Subd that’s Select Management JOB. Please someone just do your JOB. And the broad wonder why people don’t shw up for the meeting… People has grown tried of the Bullshit!

U will waste your time and money with this lousy, discourteous, bad attitude, unfriendly people. They will only cater to the board members who has the authority to hire and to fire them. With the homeowners, you can forget it. I never received call back from them when needed service. U have a figure head manager who rarely on site and get pay full salary. The owner will come to work smell alcohol like he’s been bath in it. They don’t deserve even a 1 star rating. Don’t buy their website’s ad, that we are this and we are that, it is untrue to the bone. I would have fire them long time ago if I could, LOL. I am currently in Dallas not San Jose. 13 years going the property I have.

Select Management is a nightmare! This company took over our HOA and has deliberately over charged and collected illegitimate late fees. We are seeking any disgruntled or harassed homeowners or renters for a special class action intervention. The first steps to be taken include gathering all victims and then organizing our response. ZERO stars. I live in a Townhouse currently under Select Management. After living here a year, I have never once received a call back after at least 20 calls to the office. Brenda is the most worthless «manager» on earth. Every resident in our community is sick of her lack of attention & communication. Accounting is a joke as well. Our monthy payments are always changing and when you call the office they cant even tell you how much you owe. Never have I seen such a sorry excuse for a business. I am doing everything I can to change companies as Select Management in Addison is the WORST company I’ve seen. Steer clear.

No one shld do business with this company.
This people are worthless and cheats. Their employees are never in the office. They never return calls; even during emergency siituations.

This is a horrible horrible company. Their lockbox has returned my payments on 3 occasions And charging me late fees for the return. In addition Yo that the office staff is rude and inattentive. They will make owning your townhome a nightmare.
