AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE
We called them for an estimate on a leaky external pipe. Someone who claimed to be the owner came out and took a look at around 10 am. He said he had an emergency call and would call us back.
At 4pm he called us back saying he’d completed all the work and that we owed him $ 800.
What?! We never agreed to any work nor would we ever have agreed to an $ 800 estimate to patch a 5″ section of pipe that takes less than an hour and costs a couple dollars per foot.
He came back at 8pm and threatened to chop up our water pipes if we did not pay up. At this point we just wanted him off our property so we told him we’d pay if he’d just give us an invoice. This just made him even angrier and produced further threats.
Ultimately we had to call the police to come and oversee the situation because it was getting really out of hand.
He finally agreed to come down on the (ridiculously inflated price). At the end he wrote a really sketchy invoice that said
«$ 200 materials
$ 200 labor»
with no details on what materials were used or their cost, no mention of what the per-​hour labor charge was or how many hours were worked.
$ 400 is still ridiculous for the work done, but we were afraid if we didn’t pay him we would one day come home to find our external pipes «mysteriously» chopped up.
So I just want to reiterate:
