History

Established in 1977.

Richard Drummond Davis Architect Inc. was established in Dallas, Texas in 1977. The firm initially focused on eclectic designs, blending classical forms with contemporary use of space. With each new project, clients requested increasing fidelity to classical architectural forms, and the firm began to gain recognition for homes inspired by period European architecture.

Business Owner

Richard Drummond Davis was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1950. After receiving his training at Princeton University under renowned post-​modernist Michael Graves, Davis worked in New York for the acclaimed architectural firm of Hardy, Holzman, Pheiffer. Seeking ways to express his own ideas, Davis returned to Dallas to establish his own firm.

His calling, however, was not to push out the envelope of post-​modern architecture, but to listen closely to his clients’ ideas, aspirations, and dreams and to apply his abiding respect for the power and beauty of historical architectural forms. Davis has refined his approach to design by seeking inspiration and guidance from buildings of many places and times.

«Few buildings have the elegant proportions, subtle grace or simple charm of the romantic architecture of our memories and dreams» says Davis. Creating the architecture of his client’s memories and dreams is Richard Drummond Davis’s life’s work.
