Horrible. I don’t know how they did that kind of marketing. TOP 10 brunch in Dallas? U kidding??? Had a reservation at 2:30 for Sunday brunch. We got seated immediately. But it took 10’minutes to get a waitress to attend to us. Food took 45 minutes to come out. We asked the waitress to bring us the drink tap after 45 minutes without getting our food. I rather get fast food. No apology, nothing. Customer service blew zero. SEVERELY OVERRATED !!!

Date Night at it’s BEST…
Had a great time at Rapscallion… every dish was outstanding. Food was prepared with a ton of passion and every dish was exquisite. Every dish is a must try, it was that awesome. Atmosphere was perfect. You could feel comfortable however you came, from a causal knit to a suit (we dressed up because it was a special date nigh for a couple of parents). The vibe was friendly and intimate. I would recommend Rapscallion as a must stop for anyone living or visiting Dallas.

MA oysters. Fried chicken. Red fish. Catfish. Collard greens. Dumplings. Mac n Cheese. Bourbon Banana’s Foster. Rubarb Strudel. If you’re gonna break a diet, this is a way to do it. Not to mention their cocktails are pretty refreshing to go along with a nice bottle of vino. Yeah it was a good night with great company. If you can and the weather is nice, definitely get a patio spot, otherwise the inside has a pretty impressive wall of spirits to look at and an open kitchen so there’s plenty to keep your eyes interested.
This area is in a great spot to have drinks before or after, or walk to Trader Joe’s or the Truck Yard even. You won’t have a dull time.

Absolutely loved Rapscallion — the food was amazing, and creative, and incorporated so many flavors — had the chicken which was quite simply the best I have ever tasted. Cocktails were refreshing, and simple — we will be back again and again.
The sweet potato chips were my sister favorite!

Ok, as I’m starting this review, I can’t help but to think of how salty my food was, but I’m still giving it 4 stars. Here’s why…
We walked in for brunch, told the hostess we had a reservation, and were immediately seated. I love the fact that we did not have to wait for a table, as our table was nicely reserved for us!
We all started off with a round of Grapefruit Mimosas and they were so delicious that we all ended up getting another two rounds each throughout our time there. After three amazing mimosas, I was completely satisfied.
Our waitress was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. She gave great recommendations. I’m sure I was supposed to walk in expecting to order fried chicken and a biscuit, but I didn’t. My appetite craved something lighter, and thankfully, there was a light dish on the menu. I ordered the Chorizo Quiche that came with a side salad. The salad was perfect, I only wish there was more. The quiche was good and had a great texture, but it was too salty. The flavor was definitely there, the crust was absolutely perfect, but the quiche itself wasn’t as pleasing due to the salty taste.
When I come back, I won’t be ordering the quiche. However, I can’t wait to try other items on their menu.
The interior is inviting, the space is comforting, and the servers were nice. Overall, I had a fun time here enjoying great drinks and awesome music in the background. I’ll return!

On my most recent visit, I had the special for the night which was short ribs, shrimp, and grits. Truly delicious. The fried sorghum was nice and flavorful. I also tried my friend’s Long Walk to Nashville and it was so tasty! Everything I’ve had here so far is excellent. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. The ambiance was great. Just make sure you make an RVSP since the seating seems very limited and nights are busy even on the weekdays. If you have friends coming from out of town that haven’t tried great southern/​Texan food and are stumped on where to take them then this is definitely the spot to go.

Hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time!
Highlights are: oysters, ribeye carpaccio, duck dumplings, both the main chicken dishes, red fish on the half shell. All the sides were amazing, but the cauliflower was my favorite.
Their cocktail menu is ridiculous, especially on Tuesdays ! They do Tiki Tuesday with a special list that’s a lot of fun. Also, outstanding wine list, as well as a crazy selection of booze!
This place is not to be missed!

This is specifically for their Brunch! I have been hearing about this place for a while. My husband, son, and I went for brunch. I was so excited to try their chicken!
When we go to a new place, we always over order, bc we like to try several things on the menu. But their brunch menu is so limited! the brunch menu itself will get 2 stars **
We of course got The Long Walk to Nashville, fried chicken, which is brined, rotisserized, and hot fried with a Szechuan type sauce. We got half a bird, which is 5 pieces. It is freaking delicious!!! This alone would get 4 stars! ****
My husband got the open faced Rapscallion Hot Brown, which is a house smoked turkey sandwich with a pimento cheese type sauce. My husband loved it, and said it was one of his favorite sandwiches. But I wasn’t a fan of the flavor. Mostly bc of the type of pimento cheese they used.

My son is 8yrs old and is picky, there was really nothing on the menu for him to eat, and they don’t have a kids menu.
So we got him Monkey Bread, which was sweet bread with cinnamon and pecans — supposed to be served in a cast iron, but wasn’t. This was nothing special, and could have used more pecans, I hardly noticed it. 2 stars **
Brunch menu: who served their glorious fried chicken without the much needed sides that go with it!!! Who doesn’t at least have the hush puppies, collard greens, and Mac-​n-​cheese on the menu?!! This place! So annoying! 2 stars **
Service: Our waiter was a little rude. Wasn’t very helpful and was standoffish about the menu. Also she forgot to serve us the biscuits that come with the chicken — so we never got to taste them. 1 star *
So that averages to 2.4 stars! We normally don’t go back to a resto with less than 3 stars, the the chicken is fantastic! We will be back again, but not for brunch! Looking forward to trying those side dishes that should go well with the chicken!

I’d actually give this place 3.5 stars. We came here Sunday morning for brunch and were seated in front outside. There wasn’t an awning or some sort of patio cover, and it was sunny so it became pretty warm really quickly. I didn’t mind sitting in the sun, but I can’t imagine how it’ll be during the summer. Take advantage of the outside sitting now before the ridiculous heat arrives!
The mimosas were more bubbles than OJ. Even though I like bubbly, I thought they were okay. My friend and I split the half-​chicken order of the Long Walk to Nashville platter. I don’t think the half-​chicken order is meant for one person, so split it with a friend (or is it meant for one person???). The Szechuan mala sauce was so good! The skin was perfectly crispy. Although the chicken was first rotiserrized and then fried, the center of one of the pieces of chicken was noticeably not cooked. The waitress apologized and the chef sent his apologies. They took care of things in professional and considerate manner. Very good service. The biscuit and slaw that came with the platter were just mediocre.
I’d definitely come back. I’d probably order the Long Walk to Nashville platter again… The flavors were just too delicious!

This restaurant is as great as its name.

Ambience is perfect for a first date– chill but chic.
They serve some heavily poured cocktails and the chicken is on point.
Outside seating is a plus, but the real deal is the inside ambience.

Came here on a Saturday while out and about around Greenville avenue. Had a beer (decent craft beer draft and bottle selection) along with the grass fed burger and bacon and oysters snack. The burger was cooked nicely, good sized and very juicy and tasty. The oysters were okay, definitely a snack as there were only 3 and they were fairly small. Nothing really exciting about them, pretty much just tasted like fried oysters. We were just stoping by for a drink and a snack so will definitely go back to try some of the more popular items such as the Nashville chicken. Server was very nice and attentive.

Brunch Review
Perfect spot for brunch; can’t get much better than this. First of all the bloody mary was outstanding. I ordered the duck confit hash, as did my wife, and we were both blown away by it. The hash was well seasoned and had those crisp edges you look for. The duck was salty and tender. And the egg was perfectly poached, making everything velvety and luscious. We ordered some biscuits, on the side, which were to die for.
They let us have our friends’ dog on the patio, and gave him water in a dish; this was exemplary of the service we experienced throughout our meal.

Lower Greenville hotspot Rapscallion wasn’t really on my radar until my friend suggested it as a dinner-​and-​drinks spot during a recent visit to Dallas. Finding a table for three at 9:00 PM on a Thursday was deceptively easy, but I hear it’s usually quite packed. The décor is stylish but quirky, with avant-​garde adornments overlooking multicolored wood, white-​plastered brick, and leather banquettes.
I normally favor beer or wine over cocktails, but I couldn’t resist trying one of bartending guru Eddie Eaken’s innovative creations. I don’t remember exactly what I ordered, but it was complex and flavorful. The kitchen’s central theme is a globally-​inspired reimagining of Southern staples (think fried chicken and cornbread). I have rarely seen a menu as intriguing as this one. Our first bite was the bacon & oyster hors d’œuvre from the «Snacks» portion of the menu. The chewy braised bacon contrasted perfectly with the spongy sea critter on top, and the sweet cauliflower sauce brought it all together. Next up were the Duck & Dumplings, a stew-​like preparation consisting of tender shreds of duck, an assortment of crunchy vegetables, and starchy dumplings. This dish was creamy and wonderful, but the meat was slightly too salty in my opinion. Our main course, the Long Walk to Nashville (whole bird) — five large pieces of fried chicken doused in a fiery Szechuanese blend — was incredible. We tore into the tangy dark meat like animals, the savory heat making our jaws tingle. Gammy’s Baked Mac also made for a tasty side, with a stickier dry consistency that I prefer.
Honestly, every dish we ordered was superb. The service was likewise flawless. In fact, my friends and I got so caught up in our conversation that we didn’t notice that it was almost 11… we were the only ones left. The staff was nice enough to let us stay nearly an hour past closing time! If that isn’t southern hospitality, I don’t know what is.

The hype is real, y’all! I finally came here with my friend after hearing her rave about it so much. We split the fried chicken with the maque choux side… both very delicious and fresh! The chicken was not heavy or weighed down with oil. The skin was perfectly crisp and the meat inside, tender, moist, and flavorful! Wonderful service and great drinks! They have a few handcrafted mocktails as well. Can’t wait to go back and try something new! Be sure to make a reservation, however.

Delicious brunch at Rapscallion! We started off the meal with gammy’s monkey bread. It was AMAZING and a little different than other monkey bread I’ve had – a little crispy and not crazy gooey sweet – obviously, it was sweet but not over-​the-​top sweet like the monkey bread I’ve tried at other places – very balanced and yum.
With our server’s recommendation, we then tried the Rapscallion hot brown sandwich, which was an open-​faced sandwich: toasted bread topped with smoked turkey, bacon, tomatoes and a pimento cheese sauce. Definitely big enough for two people to split (especially if you get the monkey bread with it), and the smoked turkey was delicious and flavorful.
We also tried the biscuits, which were classic southern biscuits – a nice compliment to the meal. And their mimosas are just the way I like them: sparkling wine with a splash of orange juice.

Good place for brunch. I had the Hot Brown. It was good but nothing too special. My dad really enjoyed his Duck Confit. However, the prices are really high for portions that are ridiculously small… I am hungry two hours later…
Otherwise, the service was good, nice atmosphere and good mimosas.

Going here is all about the environment. I did not particularly like the food all that much because it was very typical American food. They had burgers and chips, fried chicken, catfish, but also had raw beef which was neat.
Those were what my friends ordered and I don’t think they finished their food. The dishes looked great like a cuisine, but maybe was not worth the money.
I had a dessert and a temptress draft beer while I was there and it was not bad. The desert I got was a chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream on the side, my friend ordered the pineapple cake. The cakes weren’t extremely sweet, so it was good for our taste buds.
Should you go and check this place out? Yes. Was it worth it for me? Mmmm not really, but I think I would come back because of the neat environment.

I have mixed feelings with regards to the food at Rapscallion. The service was fine and the ambiance is the usual Lower Greenville Hipster theme with a focus on Southern Cooking.
We ordered the full bird size of the Long Walk to Nashville (LWTN). The LWTN is a rotisserie chicken which is then hot fried in the style of Nashville (sorta similar to the Koreans and their Double Fried chicken). They are actually utilizing Chinese Si Chuan Ma La peppercorns to make their chicken spicier. I personally love the Ma La peppercorns because I spent half a year in Si Chuan enjoying the numbing pain of this peppercorn. The chicken isn’t nearly as spicy as the Si Chuan style but has a nice kick.
Unfortunately, other than the chicken I am not impressed with the cuisine. We had the crawfish hush puppies and it tasted like any other hush puppy. The cornbread with duck in it was rather boring/​bland and the grilled cauliflower lacked flavor (IMO) and tasted soggy.
The alcohol selection looks broad and bless them for that, the prices are reflective of the location so prepare yourself.
Departing from food criticisms, I understand the restaurant wants to make money on people who bring in cakes for bdays but $ 5 a head?! You want me to pay more than the cake just to eat in your place after I dump a bunch of money on the meal there? Yeah I don’t think so. Maybe $ 10 bucks just to slice it but I think it’s a tad greedy to price per person.

After spending what must have been six months on my Dallas hit list, I finally got to give Rapscallion a whirl a few days back for Sunday brunch. The hype is real here folks, and you should certainly pay Rapscallion a visit to truly be versed on the Dallas food scene.
Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?
Tucked in alongside a strip that Trader Joe’s has turned into one of the hottest rows in Dallas, the Rapscallion atmosphere is a rock solid one, with abundant seating and friendly service. I was worried that my buddy and I would end up waiting for a bit given that Brunch is a bit of a new kid on the block, but surprisingly, we were seated immediately. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but at the end of the day this was a great experience.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
Prices at Rapscallion are perfectly reasonable to the point where I actually ordered two dishes for brunch. My spicy biscuit sandwich was a bit on the small side but for $ 9.00 it was plenty filling.
The ‘Hot Brown’ turkey sandwich was a bit pricier at $ 16.00, but the dish was both unique and significant in portion. All in all, Rapscallion offers some good value even though they don’t have to given the hype at their back. Star Granted.
Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
Both of my dishes here were very good right from the get-​go. The biscuits at Rapscallion are square and firm to the point of being crunchy, which was a bit different, but the chicken was very good. Also surprisingly, instead of a classic buffalo spiciness, this was more of an Asian sweet and sour spicy, making for a unique and tasty combination.
The Hot Brown was excellent, with fantastic smoked turkey, crispy bacon, and a marvelous and significant amount of cheese on a soft and flavorful buttery piece of bread. What more could you ask for? Dual Stars Granted.
Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?
Rapscallion is a great addition to the Dallas dining scene, and I’ll without question be back for dinner (I see you friend chicken), but it didn’t quite crack my Dallas top 10, so for now we’ll hold at four stars. No Star Granted.

Located in Greenville near everything else, HG supply, truck stop, trader joes, etc.
Nice little spot that holds maybe 50 people ish, super tight, and loud.
We had reservations for 5 at 8:30 and were a couple minutes later, but seated promptly. Everyone had a cocktail ~$ 11 – 15. I think I had a blood moon something? It was tasty, small, but strong.
No apps. For my entrée I had the fried chicken, 5 large pieces for ~$ 25. The chicken was great! It has a wood fire grill taste on the inside but a nice crisp breading on the outside. So good. Only issue was the price, since I love Popeyes chicken the most ~$ 5, paying 5x is just an unknown to me. Great though. My fiancé got pork belly or something, I was too busy stuffing my face.
Also got the crab hush puppies! Those were very tasty as well. Again only negative is ~$ 8 for 5 small bundles of joy.
Great place, a little pricy, worth coming too!
