Wonderful restaurant! Quaint home converted to a restaurant on Lovers Lane. The atmosphere was great with a table by the fireplace and French music playing making you feel like you are in Paris! The food and service are spectacular!
We’ll be back!

I drive by Patry’s, located in a cute little house on Lovers, every day on my way to work. We were in the mood to try something new and slightly upscale on Friday, so we made reservations.
As we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess who let us look around and choose whether we wanted to sit in the front room or the back room. Both are fairly cozy, but we chose the back room. It seemed very cool and unpretentious of them to let us choose our table.
The walls at Patry’s are covered with art, most of which appeared to be for sale. You can buy a stuffed peacock (apparently named George) for $ 1600 or a small decorative mirror for $ 60. Suffice to say the art is very eclectic. Also, a psychic was available in the restuarant for readings that evening. It certainly seemed like we were in for an interesting night.
We were presented with a wine list, and menu, and a blackboard with the daily specials. I think the specials were as extensive as the menu, which is always nice. The wine list had an interesting selection, with bottles ranging from the $ 20s-​$ 100. We settled on a Louis Latour Pinot Noir from Burgundy, which was excellent. Yay for non-​sour Pinot!
Ah, now the hard part – choosing what we were going to eat! The menu had a wide array of delicious-​sounding French food. We decided, with help from our waiter, on Escargot and Crab en Croute for appetizers, and Scallops Gratin and Steak au Poivre for entrees.
My crab en croute was a puff pastry covered with big chunks of crab and mushroom swimming in a creamy sauce. Except that my first bite was cold crabmeat, it was delicious. The escargot were huge, and covered in delicious parsley garlic butter (as they should be). I have a confession to make: after sopping up the garlic butter with bread, I started eating it with a spoon. I know, horrifying, right? Je m’en fou (that’s «I don’t care» in French).
Our entrees were also impressive. My scallops were perfectly baked with crunchy bread crumbs on top, and again garnished with a deliciously creamy sauce. Boyfriend’s steak was perfect in my opinion, but he felt it was a little raw for his taste. He ordered «rare plus», which to him meant between rare and medium rare, but it came out a bit too rare for his liking. I thought that made it even better! This steak was so tender, I could cut it with a butter knife (I tried just to see and I could!). He kept saying he felt like a cougar eating raw meat. I advised him against using «cougar», since the clientele was mostly wealthy-​looking folks in their 40s-​50s. He then changed his simile to «cheetah». That was better. Regardless, it was a fairly large portion of excellent steak for only $ 25 (and served with potatoes and veggies to boot!). You really can’t beat that.
We were too full for dessert. Next time I will split an appetizer and refrain from drinking butter with a spoon so that I have room for chocolate mousse.
Also, I must comment on the prices. All the appetizers, including seafood, were under $ 10. The entrees ranged from $ 15-​$ 25. With a bottle of wine, two appetizers, and two entrees (we ordered on the top of the entrée price scale), our bill was only a hair over $ 100. Honestly, I think this is one of the better dining deals in Dallas. The cheapskate in me just wants to go and order a bunch of appetizers, but I will refrain.

Patry’s is my favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. They have great wine. If you like escargot, they have the best. My steak was perfect. The foods are presented beautifully. The service is fantastic. Make a special date to try Patry’s. Even with high expectations, you will not be disappointed.
