Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

A lot can be told about a restaurant from its service. I can say that expression that was left was exceptional. Our server Sox was hands-​down one of the top 5 servers I have had in my 29 years of dining-​out. He was patient, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The experience at Pappadeux only got better after we sat down.
The food was phenomenal, reminding me of fresh seafood dining that only existed before 1997. I had the calamari and the seafood gumbo to start. The calamari was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The gumbo was delicious from the first to last bite. I was so enamored with the appetizers that I forgot to take pictures.
For the entrée I had the Salmon Alexander. It was amazing. The portion size was large enough for me to take home. My wife had the fresh Caesar Salad which is made at the table. She enjoyed every bite.
Overall, this was one of my first memorable seafood dining experiences. I would come back to Dallas or Texas to enjoy that again, even though the rest of the state has failed to impress me.
Be prepared to drop a decent chunk of change for your meal, but know it is worth every penny.

Awesome seafood, great service, very «Bayou casual» ambience, and some nice «table neighbors» who struck up a good conversation. Very friendly, helpful staff. Great area. A top notch dining experience!

Never been to the one in Abq but this location was great. I ended up getting the Shrimp Gumbo and it was very flavorful and good; the service was great; we were seated immediately and it didn’t take long from our drink order until we received the check. I will definitely go back to this location whenever I go to Dallas.

I’ve been to this location twice in the past month and was very happy with the service and the food was delicious!

Great service and the food tasted delicious. I order the Moroccan Salmon and Shrimp. The salmon is cooked medium rare and had a lot of flavor. I also ordered a side of Calamari. As for drink I ordered Henny and Coke. My drink was kind of weak but everyone else’s were strong. Besides that it was a great place.

I’ve been here before and sat at the bar and everything was wonderful. Today my family of 4 and I arrived at just after 1pm. It was pretty busy on this Saturday, but we were seated immediately. After about 10 minutes of watching other tables arrive and be served bread, we finally put in our drink order. I was not bothered at this point but… After 10 more minutes of waiting for those drinks to arrive, I was displeased enough to speak with the hostess about it. She said she knew I had a waitress and apologized. A minute later the manager arrived to apologize and say that they are training the waitress. I understood, and thanked her for coming by. She took our orders and made sure we got some bread and our drinks in the interim. They did forget my water with lemon though.
I was feeling a bit bad about complaining since it was a training issue… But hey how am I supposed to know…
Several… minutes… later we had our meals which were absolutely delicious. Not one complaint about the food.
As dinner was served they asked if we needed anything else. We requested my water again, more bread, and a drink refill and another glass of wine. As my food was set down they said again «I’ll grab that other glass of wine» … That never showed up, neither did the bread.
We finished our meals and another… several… minutes went by before we saw anyone else and it was simply to bring the bill.
Guess what, the bill had two glasses of wine listed and my son never got his ice cream. We called the manager over who said she’d check on that and asked if we still wanted it. By now we’ve been sitting with our finished plates for about 15 minutes… No thanks, please bring the ice cream and corrected bill. This was not a good visit. I love Pappadeaux and I’m not gonna say that I won’t be back, but this one I may skip. I think the manager was good. She came back with the bill and gave us a gift card. We decided to tip 15% which is less than we normally do, because we appreciated the gesture although I do wish they had fixed things prior to the bill arriving. Frankly, I didn’t want to leave a tip at all! Telling me about your trainer and the person training them being a new trainer, doesn’t really matter to me. Train when it’s not a Saturday lunch rush and train them to check on their tables. This was all a bit pathetic. I’ve never had such bad service. Also the wine I ordered came with a choice of $ 6 glass or $ 9 glass and this was not questioned, I just received the $ 9 glass. Small misses and loooong wait times give this experience a C-.

After our awful experience the GM invited us for a second try. We decided to try an early dinner to avoid the rush. Our server was much friendlier and didn’t forget about us for long periods of time. We decided to go with the ahi tuna seasonal special and the shrimp and chicken Cajun strips. I ordered the sauce on the side for the ahi tuna and it did not come on the side so we sent it back. In the mean time we shared the Cajun strips and treated it as an appetizer because of the food mistake and also because it seemed to be a smaller portion than what we predicted for the cost. Although our experience was better we wish we would’ve stuck to our original choice which is the mardi grass pasta– I highly recommend it, it’s delicious! The bread and butter were the best part to our meal this time around unfortunately. But we thank you for the complimentary invite!

Lunch Portion size was great! Food was fresh and flavorful when it arrived at our table! Service was superb! Most importantly, the price was right for a lunch menu! Wanted to visit again for dinner before leaving Dallas but was unable to… definitely a MUST next time I visit!

I almost did not write a review because I know the words I write could never bring justice to the meal I experienced here. Oysters (both fresh and Oysters Pappadeaux) were phenomenal. We got the fried alligator, which I had before and thought was tough and bland, and here it was SO GOOD. I got the Texas Redfish Pontchartrain, and the waitress let me sub-​out scallops for the crab because I was craving scallops. WOW. This meal was INSANE. Next time I stumble on a Pappadeaux’s I am coming here and ordering this exact meal because I don’t see how they could possibly top it! I will let my boyfriend order something different though, to test it out ;)

My friend took me here because I was visiting from LA and I was impressed! The food was delicious and the drinks were stiff! I was super impressed by the fried alligator, I highly recommend it! The only downside is that our bartender (we sat at the bar) was super slow, it took forever to order and it took even longer just to get his attention to close out our tab, he seemed out of it or new but besides that it was a pleasant experience!

This is my fourth time coming as I have to stop you every time I come to Dallas. My food was amazing and they never disappoint.

People have been telling me to try this place for years. I’ve never been. Until now. I loved it.
I miss having a copelands in my area, so I haven’t had any New Orleans or Cajun cuisine in some time.
Fast Forward to now. I ended up in here mid week during happy hour. I was able to get a happy hour drink 6.95 and a pasta dish.
They had appetizer specials. I was particularly interested in the boiled shrimp, but I was alone and knew there was no way I could even eat that and a meal.
I had the Mardi Gras Pasta. And just typing it out again made me happy. It was delish. The bartender suggested I get the lunch portion and I am glad that I did. It was huge.
The pasta consisted of crawfish, grilled shrimp and sausage over a bed a linguine mixed with a marinara cream sauce. Just wonderful. Wonderful.
My service was good. The food was good. And I had the best later in the day meal and then midnight snack on one portion of food.
I’m looking forward to visiting again when I go to Atlanta. I wish there was one in Maryland.

The oysters on the ½ shell are fantastic — big, juicy, fresh, cold, and tasty. The French bread leaves a lot to be desired — redo the recipe. The shrimp gumbo was very weak, not much in it.
Our waiter, Ethan, was the best.

Ok, you can’t come to the South and not hit up Pappadeaux. However, for me it didn’t live up to the hype. I’ve had way better seafood/​creole cajun. My experience didn’t start off great, with the poor attitude from the hostesses. We asked for seating that could accommodate my friend who is in a leg brace. They send us to a small table nestled in between other tables. Definitely not enough of room for my friend to extend her leg. We asked if we could get a booth and the hostesses had a very bad attitude. So we took it upon ourselves and found seating at a booth. Luckily our waiter, Kyle, saved the day otherwise this would have been a 1 star review. He was definitely personable and made our dining experience so much better.
Now onto the food: it was just ok. I ordered the seafood platter– 2 pieces of fried tilapia, crab cake, stuffed shrimp and stuffed crab with green beans. I don’t know if it lacked flavor or what it was. I mean it wasn’t bad, but it doesn’t help that my family is from New Orleans so it’s hard not to compare especially when your palate knows good, authentic tasting cajun creole food.
I think if you visit Texas, it’s almost like a must to go to Pappadeaux once. Welp, I can say I’ve been here and tried it. Don’t need to come back.

Everything was great. The servers were wonderful. The seafood fondue is the best around, hands down. The fried seafood platter is worth every penny. The stuffing in the crabs and shrimp is so tasty. I need the recipe. This is a great place for a company sponsored party.

The absolute ONLY reason I couldn’t give 5 stars is because they don’t have Sunday Brunch which is what we had our hearts set on when heading over to this place from our hotel. We are HUGE Pappadeaux fans and absolutely positively LOVE the brunch which we’ve experienced on numerous occasions at the Houston location which visiting the city with friends.
I’ve never had a bad experience at any Pappadeaux and I’ve visited the franchise in many different cities and states for that matter. This speaks volumes regarding the consistency of the brand from customer service to the quality of food.
We were at the door before they opened (10 min early) and met a nice family who were equally excited about the great meal to come.
Once we entered the greeter greeted us with a smile and guided us to a nice window booth. Our service was a sweetheart she talked with us as if we were friends for years. She helped us save money as she was new and in training. We ordered he platter appetizer that allowed you to taste several things. Mind you this was after she broke the news about this location not offer ring brunch and we almost left.
I ordered the Mahi Mahi topped with sun dried tomatoes and lump crab and spinach, the hubby had a fried platter with fish, shrimp and clams. Everything was amazing, they even brought out my husband FAV dessert BREAD PUDDING with a candle for his birthday.
This place is nice, clean, friendly and most of all for a foodie like me TASTY.

I have eaten here several times over the years and it is indeed my favorite seafood restaurant. I usually always get the Pappadeaux platter, which is fried fish, shrimp, crawfish, stuffed crab, and stuffed shrimp served with fries or you can opt for a different side. My favorite appetizer is the crawfish bisque. The bisque has a great flavor, the perfect consistency and plenty of crawfish. The food is always well cooked and fresh.
The servers consistently provide very good service, however the hostesses up front seem to always be disorganized and unfriendly.
Overall, a nice place to go for good solid seafood.

This is one of my fav cajun seafood restaurants … maybe it’s because I had my wedding reception here, I’ve eaten here several times after church, when family is in town, birthday parties and I had a another large party dinner reservation here.
The service is hit or miss. Staff is always nice and friendly, they just seem to disappear on you. This has happen multiple times over the years. I think their assigned too to many tables or something… haven’t been able to figure that out.
Their adult beverage menu has a nice selection of specialty drinks. As far as price, they’ve become ridiculously expensive over the years and the portion sizes for some menu items are larger and others are smaller. Food is always good, well one time my baked potato wasn’t completely done.
Although I’ve been to multiple locations, Oak Lawn in Dallas is my favor location in the metroplex. If you’re looking for fine dining seafood, you should give them a try.
