I got my eye exam here last year which was OK. Now I’m trying to set a new appointment, and I never realized how difficult this could be. The online scheduler is just a recommendation and still needs a phone call. Their hours are odd at best. Every other Saturday. but call to find out which Saturdays specifically they are open. I called yesterday and I get a message that they are helping others, fine whatever. And so I just called back today (4pm), and they closed early! I got the «Our office is currently closed» message… I listened to the hours and its supposed to be open until 5pm. Strikes me as unprofessional.

Worst experience ever. Overpriced and questionable billing practices. I went in with pain in my eye. The doctor told me it was allergies and prescribed drops (total time spent looking at my eye MAYBE 2 minutes). I paid my large copay, then received a bill in the mail for $ 200 that my insurance «didn’t cover». They used what I believe is an inflated (in my opinion) billing code to collect a larger payment. The worst part? I received a «SECOND NOTICE» for the bill only two days after receiving the FIRSt notice! I haven’t even received an explanation of benefits from my insurance carrier yet. What a mess, and gives healthcare a bad name.

While the optometrist was very nice, thorough and helpful, I found the staff otherwise at Optix to be less friendly and helpful. After deciding between two VERY different frames, I made my selection and was stunned to find the OTHER frame when I went to pick up.
Given their hours, shabby service, and high prices rather than deal with them anymore to get the RIGHT set I kept the ones they delivered but I well certainly not be back again. There has to be better service and value (you feel like you’re paying for their very swank store, not your glasses) so I will not be back.

Worst experience ever… they charged me cash *$ 900* for high dollar glasses telling md my ins did NOT cover… filed my bill with ins and they collected from the ins co too. 4 months of calling Spectera and Optix… finally filed a complaint with the State Board… where they ordered Optix to reimburse me $ 825…

This place rocks! Top notch Drs. and equipment. They have a unique inventory of frames to choose from. I understand some of the negative reviews though. Optix is not a chain store ie. vision works, LensCrafters blah blah. It is however a high end medical facility and eyewear gallery says so in the name. If you want cheap and fast this isn’t your place. I personally think my eyeballs are important so I want the best care. I’m also extremely vain so I want top shelf eyewear. The staff is more than helpful and my time is never wasted. This is simple if you care about quality then go to Optix if you don’t take your vision as serious then go somewhere else. You get what you pay for, I for one am not willing to compromise with my eyeballs.

Victoria squeezed me in for an appointment the same morning I called. Little did I know, my insurance would not cycle through until the next month. When I arrived for my appointment, Victoria was on the phone with my insurance company rectifying the situation. An exception was made and I was quickly called for my examination.
The doctor was thorough and informative. No dilation needed!!! Incredible. I was out of the exam room in less than 20 min.
Last step was speaking with Kellee. She would have helped me with choosing frames but I only needed lens replacement. She guided me through new features offered as well as improvements made in technology. Without her guidance, I know I would have missed opportunities or purchased unnecessary amenities.
I will never go anywhere else!!!

Worst experience at the eye doctor ever. After the eye exam, I asked for an adjustment on my frames and the lady said she couldn’t adjust «such cheap frames». Rude and unprofessional. Won’t be going back.

Worst eye doctor ever. My husband went there to get an exam and they overcharged him for a simple exam and 3 weeks later, we are still waiting for his contacts. Might as well go to Walmart if this is the kind of service given to NEW customers.

Visiting Optix was the best experience I have ever had at the optometrist’s! Monica was my sweet and efficient tech, and she took me thru all the testing on clean and state of the art devices. Dr. Hatton has such impressive skills/​knowledge, and I actually really enjoyed the consultation; she made it fun with her fantastic personality and explaining what was on «Star Wars» type images of my eyes. Highly recommend!!!

The office exam was fine and the setting is nice. Do not buy lenses. They are expensive, and they won’t explain what the lenses will do or if they will meet your needs. They also do not allow any type of refund on the lenses.

This was my first experience with Optix Eyecare. My roommate referred me to them. They were on time with my appointment and the staff is very friendly. The experience seemed very pricey when compared to my last eye doctor visit. My last eye doctor, I had to get progressive lenses meaning bifocals — I didn’t have insurance at that time, but I did have Blue Cross Blue Shield which covered the eye exam. I paid out of pocket pretty much for the whole experience at my last eye doctor and it ended up costing me around $ 300. This go around with BCBS and VCP vision insurance it ended up costing me closer to $ 500 with the same type of lenses. I’d hate to find out what it would be without insurance

Optix did not return my lenses when they put prescriptions in my Maui Jim glasses. They have offered to sell me new ones — failed opportunity to do what is right.

I have been a patient for several years. I have always received wonderful care and have never had a wait longer than 10 min. They are very knowledgeable and have a great selection of frames. I would recommend Optix.

I had a rather long wait before my visit but my optometrist spent a good amount of time with me. They offer an extra picture exam for $ 30 and when offered in the beginning I declined it. They put me through multiple tests and then took a picture I wasn’t expecting. At the end they added the charge to my bill and when I said I had declined it they took it off. I was very happy with the optometrist and with the technician who helped me select my glasses. I’ve gotten tons of compliments on them and they came in faster than originally quoted.

My husband and I made appointments there and we waited for two hours to see the Doctor. When she did come in, she muttered a brief apology and opened a Coke — and started drinking it in front of us. When I asked an assistant for a soda, (I figured that was the least they could do) she said that they were only for the doctor. The staff is overall rude or act like they are doing you a favor for doing their job. I wrote an email complaining and someone called and apologized so I thought I’d give them another chance.
I went back recently to get my glasses adjusted (that I bought from them) and they took them and told me to wait. 10 mins later still waiting. I was totally being ignored. Finally I gave up and demanded my glasses back. I told them that this is ridiculous, that it should have only taken a few seconds. The girl asked me if I had an appointment. Really? For a simple adjustment. All they had to do was fix the arm so it wasn’t digging into my head behind the ear.
There is really no good reason to go to this place. You can throw a rock and get good quality eye care in Dallas. The people are rude and snobby. And they are much too busy with themselves to be bothered to help anyone. If you do choose to go there, might I suggest you take your own food and drink, as you will be waiting a very long time, and expected to be treated with the best snobbery Dallas has to offer.

Hate to echo the other negative reviewer but my experience was not good at Optix. They have very nice staff and good facilities but they couldn’t fix my current glasses and suggested new ones. The result was high priced glasses that were not usable. Good news: they were willing to work with me to get the glasses right. In the interim, I went to a nearby chain eyeglass place and got a less expensive pair. When I picked them up, they also fixed the glasses Optix said weren’t repairable. Left the chain store with two usable pairs. When my new, improved Optix glasses came in, they were also unusable and while they were still willing to work with me, a month and four visits was getting to be a lot of work. So I have given up on them.

Would NOT recommend this place for anyone’s eyecare needs! From the very first impression I just didn’t get a good feeling and it only went south from there. When you walk in, the place is decorated like a cheesy nail salon, all white everything strange purple fluorescent lighting coming through some of the walls, feather wreaths?, white leather bench seating, etc. Ok, so the interior decorating was bizarre, but I thought I could deal with that if it meant a good, well-​trained, professional optometrist. Well, from what we experienced you won’t get that here. The lady we saw was rude, high-​strung, dramatic, and highly unprofessional. After seeking second and third opinions on the advice/​diagnosis she gave, our opinion of her was supported, with another opthalmologist in the area calling her a quack, ver batim. It turned out that everything was just fine with the eye issue we were experiencing and there was absolutely no need for her dramatic reaction nor the intense after-​care routines she requested (ie, bed rest, no work, no bending, no lifting, no physical activity, etc, etc). If you are looking for someone who is knowledgeable and professional, steer clear of Optix on Mockingbird.
