Went in for contact lenses fitting – granted I have an astigmatism, but prescription I got gave me double vision. Never happened with my previous lenses. Also, they are a lot pricier than other optometrists. Ok to charge higher rates, but I shouldn’t be seeing double! Cannot recommend.

First off this business is run by a very kind family with good intentions. That said, I had a less than positive experience. The person who scheduled my appointment told me the wrong day which required me coming back. That was the first miscommunication.
It should be said that I wasn’t fully aware of what I needed and the limitations of my insurance before walking in for my appointment. The receptionist did not do a good job explaining the division of costs or understand that my budget was tight (I have VPS). I think this could be improved if they had more print outs or pamphlets detailing costs. I also wish they had steered me differently (away from contacts) considering my prescription and my allergies. That said, these are very kind people but be aware of costs and your insurance co-​pays BEFORE you commit to anything! You MUST tell them up front that money is tight and you want to know what costs are in itemized writing before any exam or fitting.

I walked in off the street with a broken pair of sunglasses that I bought elsewhere. They graciously fixed them for me at no charge. Great customer service, albeit I wasn’t a true customer. Also they have a fab selection of designer sunglasses and frames.

I choose my doctors based on the level of care they provide, and I’ve been very impressed with Dr. Culbertson. He is knowledgable, his exam process is thorough and the doctor provides detailed answers to all my questions. In addition, the warm and friendly office staff make me feel like part of the family… I never feel like «just a number»!

First of all, I find it disturbing that the doctor responds to all these poor reviews with assumptions and sarcasm, while pointing fingers back at the customers as if its our fault he is doing shady business. Second, for you to say to me that you don’t have any control over my insurance benefits is ridiculous and childish. Are you implying that I am that stupid enough that I wouldn’t know that? You are simply proving the point of the numerous people here that have complained about your poor business practices. It’s obvious you have a chip on your shoulder because you are a doctor and went through med school. I don’t care how much education you’ve had in medicine your business sense, and customer service skills are sparse. Maybe instead of assuming why ppl are less than pleased with your services and writing childish responses here (which simply proves our point) you should contact them individually and see how your offices’ services could be improved upon. Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot your office never does anything wrong.

This is a great place. The doctor is extremely knowledge and was very thorough with my exam. He was genuinely concerned with making sure my eyes were healthy and was very patience in answering all my questions. The staff was very friendly and went the extra mile to make sure I was getting the most out of my insurance. Carmen is hilarious and extremely sweet, and the woman who sells the glasses, who’s name is escaping me (sorry!), is also very sweet and spent time with me going through multiple styles of glasses. I would definitely recommend this office.

I experienced the same price gouging as some of the other reviewers indicated. By the time they finished adding up and subtracting my insurance (which is a decent provider) it was more than a couple of hundred dollars for prescriptions. When I challenged why the total was so high they tried to defend the total but could not give any kind of logical explanation. I actually felt sorry for the person collecting the money because you could tell this conversation and confrontation about costs comes up frequently. I have had glasses and contacts for more than 25 years and never paid this kind of money for presecriptions before. I never write reviews but I felt compelled after this bad experience.

First off let me tell you I have needed to go to the optometrist since I was in the first grade so I have been to many ophthalmology places. This one by far is the best service I have received. The optometrist was nice, helpful, explained everything I needed and I didn’t feel rushed. The new facility is certainly larger and much easier to get to. While I enjoy going to northpark mall, it’s just hard to get in quick sometimes. Everyone here is helpful. They seem to want to get you the best product, not the most expensive. I would tell all of my family and friends to go here if they are in the network.
Also the lady at the reception desk (sorry I forgot her name) is the nicest lady!

This place is by far the worst. I have never paid $ 249.00 for contact lens fitting exam. I went there for my annual eye exam and was initially charged the copay plus a fee for using the new OptiMap. I was given a prescription and instructed to wear the trial lenses and come back for the follow-​up. I returned and shared with the Doctor that I was having problems seeing clear at night with the new prescription and asked that I go back to my original prescription. He updated the prescription and when I went to check out the receptionist told me I had to pay additional $ 90.00 for a new fitting. This didnt seem right to me as I was coming in as a follow-​up within the allotted time as my prescription was not final. She put to Office Manager on the phone who spoke to me in an unprofessional and inappropriate manner. Only come to find out that the Office Manager is married to the owner. If this is the common practice at this place I would side on caution before going to this place. I have filed a BBB complaint as this practice needs to be corrected.

Bait and switch, tried to wring every last dollar out of me. No thanks.
I went here ¹¹⁄₂₉ for my annual contact fitting. I told the doctor I wanted to switch back to Acuvue Oasys from my Acuvue2, and he wrote me a prescription as such. The woman at the front recommended I use my vision insurance $ to buy new lenses for my back-​up glasses (I’d had the same lenses for 5+ years), and then order new contacts at the beginning of the next year when my benefits renewed; that way I would have the full amount to spend on contacts, instead of spending most of it on the fitting appointment. So that’s what I did.
I went online in February, and saw that the Acuvue Oasys contacts were *expensive* so I tried to order the Acuvue Advance instead. I found out that the doctor’s office rejected my order, because that wasn’t the exact contact I was «prescribed.» I called the office, and the receptionist told me that if I wanted a different lens, I would have to come back in for another fitting. I’m not a doctor, but I’m pretty sure eyeballs don’t grow. Especially in two months. She then told me I might as well come in anyway, since the doctor might require a «mid-​year checkup» to honor ANY contact order I made, prescribed brand or not. Since when does two months equal mid-​year?
They just saw renewed benefits, and wanted to charge me and my insurance another $ 200. Plain and simple. Oh, and now I don’t have any contacts. Good thing I got new glassses…
