food being 3 and ambiance a 1. as we pulled up, my girlfriend pointed out the homeless man shack about 15 feet from the back of the kitchen. it was pretty nasty looking, but we went inside to eat anyway. chicken fajita tacos for Gfriend. 2 gorditas for me: one with nopales and red chile sauce the other poblano with cheese. these were decent, as were tacos. we sat outside, and there was a homeless guy standing and staring at us and other diners the entire meal from the neighboring parking lot. also a couple of gang banger type hoodlums roaming around outside the place. this was at high noon on a sat. place was not that cheap, Gfriend pointed out it is about the same price as chuys. i will not go back, but might check the mis cazuelas down the block.

I stumbled upon this place for lunch one day. Unlike a lot of other places in that area, they have their own parking lot behind the resturant which nice and what makes it even better is that it is free! When we walked in it was pretty packed but we were quickly seated and served by friendly wait staff. They have huge lunch specials for $ 6.85 and the menu is in english and spanish. They immediately serve chips, homemade tortillas and a super flavorful spicy salsa. I got a sour cream chicken enchilada, beef taco, rice and beans. What surprised me was that even the taco shell was homemade! It was amazing… crisp shell filled with beef and potatoes. Everyone else at the table was extremely pleased with their food as well. The only regret we had was that we didn’t wear elastic wasteband pants. lol. You should definately give this place a try if you like fresh flavorful mexican food, served quickly, and don’t want to spend a lot of money. Oh and given the area, going in the daylight is probably a good idea.

I like this place because they have fresh homemade tortillas with butter, that’s the first thing they bring to the table when they sit you. I love the sopapillas w/honey. They have fresh made carrot juice and orange juice and a lot more. Tamales are good! why not give it a try! A lot like Cuquitas rest. Not sure of the address, but is right on Peak & Main near Downtown Dallas.
