Metro Paws Animal Hospital

This business basically threatens you to edit your review… and if you don’t, they will fire you if you don’t edit your review. Which basically defeats the point of having Unilocal if you want everyone to ONLY post positive reviews. Sorry, not going to delete my post on what happened with my dog. Not going to bully me into changing my review. We will happily find another vet that will care for my pets, regardless of what I post on Unilocal.I only really got attention from this vet when I posted a negative review in the first place. So appalled how they have handled this entire situation. Clearly, our relationship would have never been the same if we decided to stay and they tried to make things right. I should have listened to all the people who told me to NOT go to Metro Paws.

I recently moved to town and took my dog here after being injured by groomers. The doctor took about 5 minutes with us and fixated on treating a non-​existent ear infection despite me continuing to point out that we were there do to injury to his rear leg /​bottom. Luckily I found a better vet in town the next day and the injury was actually addressed. Will never go back to Metro Paws.

I think that Metro Paws is a great veterinary clinic, just not suited to my needs. I brought my 2 rabbits here for annual check-​ups. The ladies at the front desk were really nice and friendly during every visit. We saw Dr. Lindsey Shipp, who was marvelous and knew how to handle my bunnies and keep them fairly calm while she examined them. One of my rabbits is very high-​strung and fearful, so going to the vet with her can be stressful.
About a week later, my other rabbit stopped eating, which was very scary, and we made 2 trips in a row to see what was wrong with him. They ran several tests each day, which ultimately came up inconclusive. I was also given syringes and Oxbow critical care to feed him with every couple of hours, an anti-​nausea medicine, and instructions to dose him with Pepcid anti-​acid. This information was listed on the medicine as well as on a print-​out that they gave me, which was very helpful in remembering which medicines to give when and at what amount. The most terrifying thing about the situation was that Dr. Shipp was on vacation, so there was no resident rabbit vet there when I needed one. Fortunately my rabbit began eating again the next day.
The whole situation was quite frightening, and it didn’t help that the assistants assigned to us knew very little about rabbits. On one occasion I was asked if my rabbit had vomited. (fyi: rabbits physically can’t vomit) In addition, we could hear dogs in the back yowling, whimpering, and barking very loudly from the exam room. Because rabbits are prey animals, those kinds of loud noises can be very stressful and frightening to them, which doesn’t help when trying to examine them.
Overall I would say that this is a good clinic, but I wouldn’t recommend bringing your rabbit here. I plan to find a vet that specializes in rabbit care with more knowledgeable assistants and a calmer office environment to take my bunnies to.

Metro Paws is such a wonderful establishment, and all the staff really care about your pets. I’ve been taking my dog here ever since I got her as a puppy. The vets and techs are very knowledgeable and friendly, and they work hard to try to make both you and your furbaby has comfortable as possible. Plus, prices are affordable, especially for the puppy vaccination and checkup packages.
My dog has always been pretty skittish at the vet. During our last visit for her annual checkup, she was clearly scared and squirmy. The techs and vet were very considerate and tried to give her exam as quickly as possible, so she was just fine once everything was done!

I really wanted to like Metropaws, especially because the time spent waiting is quite small, but due to the office staff, I’m switching. Vets are decent, but I can’t stand the inconvenience caused by the front desk staff. They are sweet, but have not once followed through with something I asked them to do without multiple phone calls or my having to show up in person. I just don’t have time for it.

Great experience overall with our Lab and Pug. The front desk staff was accommodating and the Vets were great. It can be a bit pricy but nothin extreme.
On a side note, when our pug died, the entire staff sent my wife a hand written and signed card which was amazing!

We had to euthanize our Charlotte, a black French Bulldog and found the staff of Metro Paws was incredibly understanding and sympathetic. The compassion that we were shown during this difficult time was appreciated more than we were able to express to the staff. This is truly an outstanding animal hospital with an equally impressive staff.

Sad that I’m moving away. I will have to find a new vet.
These guys are really nice and helpful. They do a thorough job and the prices are great. I would recommend these guys to any one. They are really a great vet.

I am a big fan of Metro Paws. I have a 4 year old Black Lab and we have been coming here for her annual check ups (past 2 years). They are very welcoming, prompt and efficient. We were in a room and out the door in all of about 20 minutes. The doctors really love animals, getting down on the ground so that my dog felt comfortable. They also send out reminder emails when vaccines are due, which is always a plus!
I recommend them to anyone looking for a permanent vet in Dallas.

The staff is super friendly and very informative. I was apprehensive about some of the things they suggested, but Dr. Shipp came in and really broke down the information for me. I like that Dr. Shipp and her staff don’t push you do something immediately, but rather provide you with enough information and time to research for yourself before making a decision about your fur kids. I’d previously taken a dog I was keeping to Metro Paws for a last minute visit, but now that I have my own puppy, we will continue visiting Dr. Shipp and staff.

I gave this place a try after my last vet failed to deliver and I’m glad I did! Everyone there was amazing and the facility was nice and clean. I actually had to make two trips in one day and worked with two different vets because my puppy had a bad reaction to a vaccine. Both vets were very sweet to my squirmy pup and took plenty of time to thoroughly explain everything to me. We will definitely be back!

Neither my dogs nor I have never left the vet unhappy or uneasy! I wholeheartedly trust their advice and skills! Pudge and Keira are taken care of to a T, whether it’s a check up, visit about a problem, a bath or boarding! Wonderful practice!

I have two cats with health problems — one with ulcerative colitis, and one with severe allergies. When I take my cats to Metro Paws, I know the staff there will not rush me out the door or throw some generic medication at me without pinpointing a problem. They are personally invested in my animals like a really good vet practice should be, but so many aren’t.
Yes, sometimes you wait. Yes, sometimes you spend more than you wanted. But the staff will not waste your time or money. I’ve been told directly when something I want to buy is unnecessary and I’ve been sold things I wasn’t planning on buying. (I love my pill popper!!!)
In the end, I always feel confident that my animals are being taken very good care of and my concerns about their health are valid. I have bounced from vet to vet but this practice is where I will be taking my animals from now on!!!

I’m a pretty terrible introvert, so usually when someone says «they make you feel like family» I hiss and cringe out of fear of people wanting to talk to me and be my friend. However, I can honestly say that the staff and vets at Metro Paws make me and my dog feel like family and I can say it with a smile on my face.
Maybe it was because these were the people to give me the news that my Joey was FINALLY heartwork neg after 3 years of the «slow kill» method, but I can’t help but smile when I think about how warm and friendly the techs and vets here are. Also, both vets I saw had no problem when I said I didn’t want to pursue the immiticide injections for heartworm treatment and were happy to pursue the alternative treatment method. I will be going here for many years to come. (Also… they’re not overpriced! That can be hard to find in a good vet’s office).

I am kiiiind of high maintenance when it comes to my fur-​babies. Shocking, I know. Having had a few bad experiences with different vets (read –stitches coming undone (?!), dirty rooms, waiting 20 minutes to get 5 with a real vet), I was recommended to MetroPaws.
The vets and staff here are the most incredible, compassionate, knowledgeable group a crazy dog/​cat-​mom like me could hope for. The vet techs AND vets always spend tons of time answering my nit-​picky questions and making sure that my animals are truly cared for.
They always follow up after a visit, and their email reminders for vaccinations etc. are a lifesaver!
A few stories (one is kind of gross — sorry!!) about their wonderful level of care:
1) They accepted a (very) last minute boarding request for my dog, Darby, because she was vomiting and I was leaving town for work. They took excellent care of her and nursed her back to full health. Then when my Saturday flight back was delayed due to an ice storm, Dr. Sarpong offered to stay after hours to wait for me to pick her up on Saturday rather than having to wait until Monday.
2) My dog had been having upset tummy and going #2 in a way that was really concerning. Rather than causing more inflammation to her poor little rear end, one of the vet techs spent 30 minutes following her around the parking lot with a tiny bowl positioned to catch a sample for testing.
3) I was able to get a same-​day appointment anytime it was really needed.
They truly care for my pets like they are their own, and I have been over the moon with the service and quality of care we got from MetroPaws. We have since relocated to Houston, but I would highly recommend anyone to take their pets to MetroPaws.

I love metro paws. Dr. Herring is the best, she always listens to what I say and I love that she makes follow up calls to check in and see how my pets are doing. I’ve seen other Dr.‘s like Dr. Lavender and others and even when my dogs were sick and did not go in for a routine exam, they did not follow up with me to see how they were doing. I also feel like Dr. Herring has never disregarded me like Dr. Lavender has. Overall, I would say she has a better bed-​side manner. So I really appreciate Dr. Herring’s actions. It shows a lot about her and I am a dedicated fan… I only see her now.
The only complaint I have is that the new girls at the front desk aren’t so great. I really miss Shelley, LuAnne, and Rosemary. They were so friendly and wonderful at what they did. Shay and the other two new girls aren’t really friendly. The last few times I’ve been in I literally stood there a while and no one greeted me. It was really unprofessional. The whole office was completely empty too. Finally, I went up to one and once I addressed Shay I was finally helped.
I don’t know what happened to their previous staff, but I wish they were all still there because they were really a HUGE asset to the practice and part of the reason why I loved Metro Paws so much… now it’s just kind of so, so.
Lastly, their prices are very reasonable compared to other vets throughout Dallas AND Dr. Herring provides excellent and thorough care.

When we bring a pet into our lives, we do so with the knowledge that one day we’ll have to let them go. Metro Paws has been by my side, caring for my beloved animals for years and they were by my side when it came time to help my love Vienna stop hurting.
We were treated with such care and respect from the second we walked through the door. The entire staff worked together to make what is a painful experience as easy on us as they could. I couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful goodbye.
Metro Paws is an amazing clinic and I can’t imagine anyone else caring for my pets.

Metro Paws is AMAZING and would highly recommend this place. I actually won a gift certificate type of thing and so in doing so I gave Metro Paws a try. The second I called, I already had such a good feeling– the receptionist was very polite, friendly, and professional. So, I made my appointment and I had to call back to reschedule– no issue. The staff was able to fit me in, in a snap!
Got there and everyone knew who my dog was without even saying. They really make you feel like a part of the family. Didn’t have to wait, we were taken into one of the rooms as soon as possible. I really felt like they cared about my dog and his well being. Everyone was really thorough and explained what they were going to do step by step (vaccines, exam, fecal and heart worm testing). Before hand, I was hoping it wasn’t the type of clinic who all you see is the vet techs and maybe the doctor for a second. Nope, Dr. Lavender came in and she was just so professional — we loved it! And I wish I would’ve picked up everybody’s names who worked with Yogi, because everybody is was truly caring and professional.
Another thing I must add is my dog had an allergic reaction to one of the vaccines and prior, the tech had told us there was a possibility and they will take care of it for no charge. Well, of course me, my dog was the lucky candidate. The second my friend and I came back from lunch and saw his Frenchi face become a Shar Pei’s we immediately took him back in. My friend called to let them know the situation. The second we got there, the staff came right out and took him back immediately. Dr. Lavender came and checked in with us and kept him for observation till later that evening. Picked him up and everything was fine.
Earlier this morning, I received a phone call from them making sure if he was okay and said if has any issues-​bring him in. Loved it.
So, yes — I didn’t write this outstanding long review for nothing :) you have to give them a try!

If I could give each and every single person from Metro Paws an individual Unilocal review, I would… and it would be 5-​stars (and then some) all around. The efforts put forth by the staff here LITERALLY saved my dog’s life. These folks are ANGELS.
Yesterday I experienced every pet parent’s worst nightmare. My puppy found his way out of the home and got hit by a car. As you can imagine, it was one of the most traumatic incidents I’ve experienced. I’d never been to Metro Paws before, but since time was of the essence I quickly got my pup to the closest vet I could. They welcomed me from the very beginning. From the moment I walked in, panic written all over my face, they rushed me to the back with a sense of urgency and took care of the situation with professionalism and genuine concern. Given the gravity of the situation, I really appreciated that the doctor addressed the immediate needs of my baby and took my information after. Had it not been for her quick thinking and life saving measures (fluids and other stabilizing measures), this could have all turned out much differently. The blood work, x-​rays took were done with a quick turnaround and they were able to assess the situation clearer. And when they needed an ultrasound, they made necessary calls to get another vet to come and address those needs.
Naturally an emergency can be very emotionally and financially draining. The front desk staff is warm and accommodating and will explain your options and answer your questions with sensitivity and attention. I’ve since gotten to know most of the staff by name and they have gone out of their way to make a horrific incident somewhat bearable. If you’re wondering how the story ends here, it’s still ongoing but significantly better. But I can tell you that since my Primo has been in the loving hands of Metro Paws, he has been improving dramatically… nothing short of a miracle. I’m now confident that he’ll be just fine with a little extra love, care, and therapy. He is scheduled to undergo surgery, and after getting to know Dr. Lavender and Dr. Badamo and the other wonderful men and women at this office, there is no other care I’d rather leave him under.

Two visits for non-​anesthetic dental later and I’m really a fan! My baby comes away without risking him life and some pearly white teeth! They are so helpful, love the animals and do their part to make you feel safe. They call you to check on him the next day «yes, were calling to see how — is feeling today after their visit.»
They do this after shots or whatever. They are great to remind you about shots when its time, there are email reminders too. Believe me, I need that. I think their prices are reasonable for the service and the facility is conveniently located!
