Truly authentic Mexican cuisine! Their food is just as good as any other restaurant that charges more for the same stuff. The guacamole is delicious and the asada is juicyy! Décor is so festive and mexican. If you are in the area, you will not go wrong trying this Mexican restaurant.

I came here last weekend. Everything feels authentic and family-like. They have a pretty interesting menu for such place. The tortillas are handmade and soft. The salsa was not impressed me, but was good enough. Add the friendly staff and quick service; this will be a weekend go-to for me! All in all, definitely a great authentic Mexican experience. Worth every penny!

They are only a couple places I take the time to review, and Mario’s certainly fits the bill. I truly have enjoyed all the dishes I’ve order from the Shrimp tacos, Onions with shrimp, or the Green enchiladas with shrimp. Mario the owner is a friendly face each and every time, it truly feels like we’re guests in his home. My server Manuel, the best one can ask for. When we arrived a waiter which I don’t know his name, completely skipped us to attend other clients that had just got there. His reasons unknown. But everything else was great!

I went there for a to go order for Papusas and a tamal, I don’t have a picture because I was concentrated on eating the food. The Papusas were amazing as well as the dipping sauce. I loved it I got a cheese papusa and a one with chicken. This is one of my favorite foods now, very filling and that is some special sauce.

Marios has been one of my go to restaurants. Mario is great, but if he is not there don’t even try to talk to his wife she will treat you like dirt. I have been going here since they opened, the food has been normally good. lately the food is real inconsistent, Last week I ordered cheese enchiladas and the sauce on the enchiladas was like soup… so they were inedible. today I went and the waitress told me to order the ribs… I could not even eat them… they were at least a week old so tough I could not even get the meet off the bone… worst ribs I’ve ever had… When the waitress saw i did not eat anything she did nothing, she did offer to get Marios wife, which would have made the experience worse… So a long time customer will never eat here again…

Clean restaurant and friendly staff. Mario’s has perfected the bean dip you get with the two salsas when you sit down. Pupusa’s are amazing, and their fajita plate is stellar. Well done!

If you love brunch as much as I do, than you need to come to Mario’s. I’ve never had an El Salvadoran brunch till now, and I’m depressed about this because I have been missing out. I came here with a party of 6 was quickly seated. I got the flank steak with eggs off the brunch menu. The steak was a perfectly cooked medium well and the eggs were scrambled with just the right amount of seasoning. Our waiter was very attentive and was constantly refilling our bowl of chips and water glasses. The bean dip was life changing. I definitely recommend trying some in addition to the steak and eggs. I also tried some of the chicharrón, which was cooked to the prefect crispiness and was simply amazing. Better than all this was the price. Most of the options on the brunch menu were UNDER $ 10. If you’re in the Downtown Dallas area, you need to try Mario’s.

This was my first time coming to this restaurant for brunch and I have to say it was VERY pleasurable experience. The brunch crowd was not very big, but it was still busy! The restaurant itself is able to accommodate huge crowds at once especially with an outside patio. Our party of 6 was able to be seated immediately and the waiter got our drink orders just as fast. They brought out two bowls of tortilla chips with salsa verde, salsa rojo, and a bean dip. All three were really good!!! And for people like me who can’t really tolerate spicy foods, the salsa was just the right amount. I order the Huevos con Chorizo which consisted of three potato slices with cheese melted on it, scrambled eggs with chorizo, refried beans, and three tortillas. All for $ 7.99!!! That’s a great brunch deal to me. Brunch lasts from 11am — 3pm but I’m unsure if this is an everyday thing, or just on Sundays. Aside from that the dish was really good, but nothing really stands out. The potatoes were kind of tough and greasy, but still good. The chorizo eggs tasted amazing! But something I could definitely make at home. And the beans… well they were beans. Overall a good meal for a good price so I’m happy. Give them a try!

I am so glad we stopped here. We were seated right away. Our drink order and 3 dips were brought to us quickly. The bean dip and Rojo were great with lots of flavor! The horchata was cinnamony, awesome! My husband had the carne asada(which he orders anytime it’s available) the steak was good quality, tender and the flavor was on point. I had the fried plantains! The best I’ve had! The were Caramelized and crispy on the outside and sweet and soft on the inside, perfection. The black beans are also really good. The rice was the best Mexican rice. The pupusas were steamy hot and delicious with the cabbage and the sauce was great. I wish I could’ve had pork, bean, and cheese, rather than just pork and cheese. They were still very good! We were very impressed with everyone that worked there are drinks never went empty, which is saying a lot because I drink fast. Our waiter was polite and knowledgable about the menu. We commended them on their great service, atmosphere, and wonderful food. Before leaving we couldn’t resist ordering a Tres leche cake. Omg! amazing it was dense enough to hold the milk so the cake was soft and so good and the little chocolate on top was just enough to make it the best Tres leche I’ve had, and I’ve had a lot! All in all thank you for a great dining experience. I will spread the word to all my friends/family and we will definitely be back!

The kind of salsas you get for chips are really worth going back for. Blackbean salsa is my favorite. Food was good too and above average. I liked the sizzlers effect we give for fajitas.

I don’t have a huge experience with Salvadoran cuisines, so I was recommended to get the Mario’s sampler. This entrée sets the tone for me. I’ve never had a pupusa, and I thought it was just a thick tortilla. but I was pleasantly surprised to find there were meat packed in there. The plantains were fried to perfect sweetness. I really enjoyed the chicharron with the yuca. In the end, I struggled to finish the dish, I was getting so full. When I’m with a group, I like seeing other people’s dish, to see what I would like to try for my next visit. And there are quite a few dishes I want to try again. The interior setup of the restaurant has a nice, warm lighting that isn’t too bright, but not too dark. Definitely a place I could take a date to, but can also bring a group of friends/family to. Also, the service was fantastic. They were constantly walking by, checking to refill my drink. I highly recommend.

I have been here several times in the past and I love it. Depending on what you are in the mood for because their menu is pretty extensive. They have pescado soup and chicken and vegetable soup plus other soup options. A good salad selection. Tex mex options and today I’m ordering fish and veggies. It usually comes with rice but trying to cut back on rice(at least for rest of this week). They make good margaritas and the prices are decent. Maybe not as cheap as one would think but being delicious makes up for that. The reason why 4 stars is sometimes I get amazing service and others not as amazing. I do love the 3 dipping options.. The chips are also good here. I say it’s def worth it to stop by this place. I’m really glad that it’s lasted here this long. I forgot the other restaurant before this but it didn’t last this long I hope more people stop by and this place stays here. I will come back. Sometimes I crave certain items from here.

I was getting my car fixed at the Honda dealership down the road and got hungry. The people at the dealership recommend this place. It was great for lunch. I liked the 3 dips that came with the warm chips and 4h3 chicken burrito came with a side of queso. I usually don’t get the frozen margaritas, but those were good and STRONG and only $ 5 at lunch time! I will come back here for dinner with friends in the future

Mario’s is a solid salva-mex/tex-mex place! Had a very pleasant dining experience here with some friends. The Fajitas looked wonderful, the Tacos el pastor de pollo were very tasty as were the enchilada’s del mar. The dinner service was very pleasant and attentive.

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was less than half full, which is surprising because the restaurant is clean and the food is good. We were seated immediately and the service was attentive. We both started with a premium margarita with Don Julio and it was strong and excellent. Very dangerous. You want to drink more but you can’t unless you have a relative who drives a taxi. They serve complimentary chips and three salsas: green, red, and black bean. I liked them all and the chips were not greasy at all. The green is really spicy. The red is homemade. For entrees, the wife went with the Salvadoran sampler($ 12.99) and I went straight Tex-Mex with chicken fajita($ 14.99). Her sampler was good, but she said we’ve had better papusas elsewhere. My chicken fajita was very good – chicken was not dried out. All the accompaniments made the portion very generous and I could not finish. The prices are in line with what you pay in Dallas, not cheap, not expensive. It was our first time and I was favorably impressed so I expect we’ll be back.

When FORCED to pick a favorite«Tex Mex» Mario’s is my choice. In the same way as Gloria’s, it’s cheating a little bc it’s technically Salvadorian too, but even the non Salvadorian dishes bring so much more to the table(pun not intended) than your standard enchiladas, tacos, and chalupas. Last time I got chicken tacos al pastor. It was very flavorful without overdoing it on the fat and grease. An assortment of advantages of and tips for Mario’s: You can eat for insanely cheap if you order the day’s special(applicable most weekdays). The house margarita gives most places a run for their money for a fraction of the cost(especially during happy hour). If you like spice, they have an orange habanero dip available upon request that does not come standard(likely to prevent lawsuits). This place is very affordable for the quality you get and after years of coming here has still never disappointed me.

This is good, standard Tex-Mex. And I had drinks and beef fajitas here since they were heavily recommended even after asking about a certain Salvadoran dish(which I will eventually get to, regardless). The beef fajitas were traditionally Tex-Mex, in the sense that it came with all the standard accompaniments such as cheese, sour cream, and all the stuff that Mexicans frown upon. The beef was, however, untraditional in the sense that it is ribeye steak instead of flank steak — and I liked the meatier taste since good flank steak for fajitas are hard to come by nowadays(for that, you’ll have to go down to Ninfa’s on Navigation in Houston). The beef were top-notched, and this was easily the best fajitas I had so far in Dallas — surprisingly considering that the tortillas are not even as fresh out of the oven as those of say, Pappasito’s. But at the price point it was being served at, it is easily a winner(and it even costs less on Tuesdays as part of the daily special). Even if you skip the Salvadoran dishes, the Salvadoran influence is still apparent with their black bean dip. And I could taste that this establishment even add a bit of sugar to give it that salty sweet taste that works well with black beans, and while being careful not to put too much lard. And it’s definitely the best black bean dip I’ve had so far. Never thought I would mention a dip in the review, but hey, they really nailed it. The only thing that could be improved upon slightly are the drinks. Don’t get me wrong — they’re not bad, but they’re not the best either. The skinny margarita should be banned — it just doesn’t taste good and makes me feel sorry for all the people out there that wants to watch their weight with this drink. The mojito was good although I think personally it could use a bit more lime and better muddled mint. Just a tiny bit more. The drink prices are good, so good that their happy hour prices are pretty much only a dollar or two off of most of the drinks in the menu — but it’s because it’s already priced low. But otherwise, this place is worth returning to if you’re in the mood for Tex-Mex in this part of town. Congratulations Mario’s — and it seems a lot of my friends also love this establishment. I’ll have to come by again to try the other stuff to see if the ratings hold. Service — friendly, fast Atmosphere — casual

I still love the food at Mario’s, as well as the ease of getting a table immediately most nights. My change in rating is due to the declining service quality. The wait staff are always friendly, but don’t seem very engaged. This includes not taking accurate orders and not verifying what you get is actually what you ordered. If one item on a plate hasn’t been touched by a patron, this could be a sign that the order was wrong, but they’ve never caught this or tried to correct an obvious problem without being prompted by a complaint. I’m not one to send food back or make a scene, so I’ll usually just go with what I got, but after dining at Mario’s almost weekly and getting incorrect orders almost every time, I had to put Mario’s in timeout for a while.

This restaurant is more of a 3.5 stars but since there isnt half a star… I rounded it down because I dont think its worth 4 stars. To start off, the restaurant is pretty old fashion and it wasnt very busy considering it was Saturday night. The staff was pretty attentive and friendly from the second I walked into and left the restaurant. We were seated right away only because it wasnt very busy. I ordered the quesadillas only because Im a huge fan of them and street tacos… and I wasnt going to order street tacos. The quesadillas were on point and I would have to say they’re almost as good as the ones from Mi Cocina or Taco Diner. The bean dip was my FAVORITE out of the three dip choices and reminded me of the bean dip from Gloria’s. Overall: I enjoyed the two decisions I made while dining at the establishment but I dont think I would personally pick to eat here. Theres a lot of competition in the uptown area so it’s kinda hard to be unique. I read the reviews on the this place and it seems like its one of those places that you either hate or love. Personally, I would return ONLY if I was in the area and craving quesadillas so bad that I couldnt wait to drive another couple miles.

Great for Happy Hour! They got a variety of margaritas, sangria, and lots of food options to go with those drinks. I almost got myself too full on the chips with salsa and bean dip because they were so addicting. Luckily I stopped myself so I could the yummy appetizers! The chicken stuffed jalapenos are delicious and spicy and the fajita nachos are good too. The staff is awesome and they’re on top of their game. Anytime we had an empty glass, our waiter was right around the corner ready to bring us more. I’ll definitely be back for more sangria and food!

It’s now just called Mario’s, but luckily the food hasn’t changed. Still consistently good and offers a wide variety of Mexican and El Salvadorian cuisine. I ordered the seafood plate. Jumbo shrimp, crab meat and fish drenched in a cooked sour cream seasoning sauce that was(horribly unhealthy and) to die for! My only compliant is that the service has gone downhill. The hostess seemed too distracted to seat us initially although the place was empty. And our server forgot about us several times as well, leaving our chips and salsa bowl empty(not checking on us to refill it until we asked a couple times). Still food and beeritas were on point so well definitely be back soon enough!

Great Latin /Salvadorian food! Get the bean & cheese or pork & cheese pupusa. The creamy green chile salsa and the black bean dip are awesome additions for the chips! GOFORHAPPYHOUR! $ 3 mojitos and house margaritas! Their mojitos are the bomb. I don’t think I’ve ever seen drink prices that good in Dallas.

Marios is a wonderful place for amazing Salvadorian or tex-mex! It’s a pretty low key place, but serves top notch food. The chips and bean dip they give you to start are delicious. The bean dip was delicious, I prefer it over the one at glorias. I had so much of it the waiter had brought me some more:)! I had ordered the chile relleno with shredded chicken. The pepper was fried perfectly with the perfect gooey Monterrey cheese. The chicken was tasty and flavorful. The portion size was huge, and the rice that came with it was ah-mazing. My partner had ordered the beef taco plate and opted for the borracho beans instead of refried. Those beans were so good, I wish I would’ve had those instead also haha. While having lunch I even got to meet Mario himself, very nice man. The service here was very attentive, and I really love supporting family businesses. I will 100% be back here; loved it, and would recommend this to everyone.
