Live Hair Group

I wrote the first Live Hair Group Unilocal review 9 years ago, so I thought it fitting to update it and rave about Tasha. I moved to California a year ago and I still haven’t had anyone else touch my hair. I know I’ll have to find someone local, but I just can’t quit Tasha.
I always love my cut, and she is an absolute magician with color. I appreciate her creativity and ideas, as well as her understanding when I’m feeling not quite as daring as she is. :) She’s the single best colorist I’ve been to; it always looks natural, works with my skin tone, and is pretty easy to maintain. She legitimately cares about you, your happiness, and the health of your hair. I seriously cannot recommend her highly enough. Her only flaw: she’s not in California.

Had a great experience with Julie and the manager Lilly took care of all my needs before and after my service. The relaxed energetic environment and the fact my hair looks and feels great will make me keep coming back

I asked a, friend where to go in Dallas for a haircut and I was told Live Hair Group .I had the pleasure of meeting Robert Wilson who did my hair and while Robert was cutting my hair his manager Lilly took very good care of me with a beverage. The salon is amazing and so was my haircut by Robert Wilson, he also told me about the upcoming men’s day on Tuesdays for haircuts and mini facials AWESOME, I recommend Robert Wilson and Live Hair Group 5 Stars !!!

They are very friendly however they do not know how cut curly hair! If you have curly hair this is not the place to go. I came a week ago to get my hair colored wanting to go red for the first time. I showed the stylist pictures and she said it would be no problem. The color I left with was nice but nn ot what I wanted. Additionally after being styled at the salon when I got home I had to restyle it myseft. With curly hair it needs to be styled a particular way so that it doesn’t puff and frizz up. With styling my hair myself it can last up to two days without restlying. The day I came in my hair only lasted about 3 hours. Below I am posting a picture of the color I wanted and what I received.

After calling and letting them know I was unhappy they scheduled me to come back and do a color correction. Only to find out when I got there that they were sending me away. They told me that the color I wnt ia impossible for my hair. That made no sense to me but thankfully I found studio 1514. I showed them a pic of my hair color before I went to Live hair group. Which was a blond ombré and the picture of the color I want my hair to be a natural amber caramel red. There were a bit upset that Live darkened my hair instead of using some of the blond and just lightning above. In irder to get the color I want they told me it would take a few sessions. Because of Lives mistake I had to spend more time processing my hair.
If I ever come back it would inly be for happy hour fri. That is only because it is 10 $ I honestly dnt feel like I can trust them being able to style my for any event. 10 would be worth saving me a couplesteps si that way I can restyle at home. If I do come to happy hour I will repost and sew if the work is any better. Hopefully I will not be as dissatisfied. For 10 $ I willbbe willing to give them another try.

While I still stand by the details of my last review experience because I still love their happy hour special, I wanted to share a recent incident. In hope to have my hair blown out for my Thursday evening office party, I went online looking for places for a reasonable deal and availability. On the Live Hair Group site. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to book the Happy Hour blow out for a Thursday appointment! Not to get too excited, I called them to confirm that this was legit and was told that it was! Yay!
After the excitement was over, I remember the woman on the phone saying «it should be fine.» Knowing how upset I’d be if I got there, and something didn’t work out, I called again. I was told that their happy hour didn’t start till 5… I asked her, «Oh, well I was able to book it online and my party starts at 5, could they make an exception?» She went to check and when she returned, she said, «No, our happy hour is actually only for Friday and if it was Friday, then I could make the exception.» Which would have been nice… I told them they really needed to fix their online booking because it allowed me to confirm a service they actually don’t provide (on 6 out of 7 days). She said «OK» and that was that…
It was really disappointing and frustrating since it is the holiday time and I was really excited. To me, they should have honored this goof and then fixed it to prevent other mishaps. I’m glad I called so I didn’t end paying a lot more for a service.

I’ve been coming to this salon for my eyebrow threading with Suki for the past 5 months and she is absolutely amazing. Very sweet and willing to teach you how to properly fill in your brows to frame your face. I would recommend her to anyone. Thanks Suki for everything!
Today I tried out the hair salon and made a last minute appointment with Brandi. I’ve been to many salons in Los Angeles and have not been quite happy. But Brandi surprised me. They do dry haircuts here and I really appreciate that. She took her time to make the cut perfect and precise. The hair washing station is wonderful, it’s an actual flat bed and her hair washing skills are GREAT! I hope that Brandi keeps up with giving each customer the time and attention they need. A tip may be to come on a weekday when it’s not that busy. I love my cut and will definitely be returning to her for my hair and to Suki for my brows. THANKS GIRLS!

Robert and Janna are the best. They really care about their customers and their business. I’ve been going to Live Hair Group for more than 4 years and I am always pleased with the results. All of the stylists are talented and well trained. My wife goes here as well and she loves it too. Also, whenever my mom is in town (a couple of times a year) she gets a haircut. Lastly, it’s just a fun place, not your typical stuffy salon. I always walk out with a smile.

I’ve been a customer of LHG for about a year now, always going to Suki for my brows. She always does a superb job, I would never go anywhere else. I mentioned to her last time that I wanted to cut off my long locks, and she suggested that I see Matt H.
I made an appointment with Matt the following Friday. I was extremely nervous about chopping off my hair (I had a horrible experience in the past at a different salon). From the minute I walked in the door Matt put me at ease. We talked about different styles and what would work best with my face shape. When it came time to actually cut my hair, Matt made me feel even more comfortable, walking me through each step of the cut. When it was all said and done, IT’S LOVE. I feel sassy, sexy and like a brand new woman, all thanks to Matt!

I cannot say enough about how much I love this salon. I’ve been going here for about two years and have never encountered a better salon. Their method of dry cutting hair is unique and frankly makes the most sense as far as technique. I mean you wear your hair dry, so why would you cut it wet? They use excellent products, and I believe those products are also cruelty free. I made this mistake of seeing another stylist and regretted that decision instantly. I will drive all the way down from Richardson and find a babysitter for my infant because the haircut I got there shortly after my baby was born was a huge step in feeling like myself again. I love this salon and will never go anywhere else. It doesn’t matter which stylist you see, all are well trained and very talented. And I love the fact that I’m offered a beer or glass of wine upon walking in.

Had my hair dyed here for the first time ever. I was really happy with the result, Bethany was really nice and did a good job! However my hair started falling out the next week and has become brittle and thin, the treatment must’ve been too harsh on it and now there’s nothing I can do but wait for it to grow back (it better grow back!).
Needless to say I won’t be coming back for colour, which is sad because I really liked the way it looked for the first week.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Laurel Johnson at Live Hair Group. I’m very selective with who cuts and colors my hair and was referred to Laurel. SHE IS AMAZING. She has a great personality, easy to talk to, and actually listens to what you want. She took the time to listen, look at the pictures I bought, and give me advice.
BEST HAIRCUT I HAVE GOTTEN! COLOR WAS PERFECT! I will definitely be making Laurel my new hair guru and I suggest anyone who is looking for a great hair stylist in Dallas go see Laurel.

So i love this place when I first came in for Service. Julie was still great today and i had gotten balayage coloring 2 weeks ago. She had dyed my hair a lot lighter the first time than i expected so she said i can come back the next 2 weeks and she can do a glaze and make it darker and it would be for free. Came in today expecting a free service but still got charged $ 55 because apparently I had to come in within 7 days and not 2 weeks. Wasnt too happy. Just felt like I got ripped off somehow.

I decided to try someplace new for my highlights and cut as I wasn’t completely happy with the color I was getting with my regular hair stylist. I gave Brandi a shot and am so happy I made the switch! I absolutely love, love, love my highlights. The cut looks awesome and it still looks nice and long! My hair looks a lot healthier than it’s looked in ages and I receive compliments on a regular basis now. Brandi styled my hair so pretty, too. I think this is the first time I didn’t have to immediately rush home after getting my hair done and fix the mess before anyone saw it. Oh, and my hair smelled amazing for days. I will definitely be going back to Brandi and will be referring my friends.

I haven’t cut my hair in 3 years due to a horrific boy cut I received when I wanted a bob.

Omg. THE best hair salon I’ve ever been to! I just moved to the DFW and found the perfect salon to help change my look. I just told Tasha (my stylist) what I wanted and she made it better than the idea I saw in my head. She was so sweet just as everyone else who worked there. The salon has beautiful art work on the walls and TV fish tank. I got color, highlights, and a trim. It is pricy but it’s worth every penny. My hair feels healthy and looks amazing! I definitely recommend it and will most definitely going back!

The haircut with Robert was good, but not great. It was a corrective cut, though, so maybe follow on cuts might yield a better look. He ran considerably longer on the client before me and I never received an apology from him for cutting into my appointment. He takes his time with you, granted, but that’s why a men’s cut is $ 85! I am not sure if I got an $ 85 cut, though.
My wait time was occupied by the manager/​receptionist who was showing me garage sale and vintage sale facebook pages on the salon’s computer! Kinda weird. For the Diet Coke in a glass I requested, the manager/​receptionist brought me a styrofoam coffee cup with a plastic lid filled with Diet Coke; no glass and no ice. It looked like the type of styrofoam cup you would find at QT! The lasting memory I have of the manager/​receptionist is a general lack of hygiene or appearance suited to a manager/​receptionist in a salon atmosphere. I am not talking about a primped and prissy uptown big-​haired look either. Just being basically presentable to the business’ clientele.
There is definitely a lot of young vibrant talent at Live Hair Group. I think they are responsible for the positive energy I felt during my visit. The space is interesting with cool artwork, but housekeeping is lacking.
Robert gave me a corrective cut, for which I paid $ 85 with a better than 20% tip, but I don’t see the full value for a haircut at that price. My hair has been growing out for three weeks now and I have 3 or maybe 4 areas of concern based on the haircut that Robert gave me. I won’t be returning. The search for a stylist goes on…

I really wanted to love Live Hair. They were my first effort at finding a hairdresser in Dallas, I loved the location, and the stylists are all very nice. The thing is: my hair has never looked worse. I have given Live Hair multiple chances and I finally just had to let it go and find another stylist.
Before my first appointment, I had an amazing rundown by Taylor over the phone. He asked for specific details about my wants that I felt he cared about the answers to. When I got there, they told me about their «dry cutting» process– which means that they wash, dry, then cut your hair. There is something deeply logical to it, which sounded fine to me, so we got started.
There are long beds for shampooing, which means no bent neck and discomfort. I added a hair conditioning and laid down for 10 minutes. Totally comfortable. After the wash, two stylists started blow drying my hair. The sensation of two people blow drying your hair is an interesting and not entirely pleasant one. There was a lot of opposition pulling. My scalp felt a little tender at the end, but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me because everyone was so nice. The environment is casual, but personal. So, I thought I would go back although the cut I received wasn’t exactly what I wanted.
The first experience was ok. But, all I had was a cut during that session. During the second appointment, I scheduled a hair dye and cut. I had an appointment to go to 2 ½ hours after the appointment started and I figured that would be enough time because it has never taken three hours to do my hair.
Similarly to the first time, they washed and dried my hair before the cut– and that part went well. The cut was fine, not perfect. Then, the color started. Without very much consultation, the dye started to be mixed and applied. Over the course of the next 40 MINUTES, I had hair dye on my hair that at points was burning my scalp and no one came by to check on me. By the time it was ready to wash out, there was another 10 minutes for a «glaze». When I finally got a glimpse of the color in the mirror (I was turned around while waiting), there was a shocking ring of red around my hairline (my hair is not bright red). At this point, I had already been in the salon 2 ½ hours and my hair was still wet. They then dried my hair a second time with two blowdryers going on simultaneously with brushes pulling on both sides of my hair. At two hours and 45 minutes into my appointment, my hair was dry, but then was just starting to be styled. But the time of the «great reveal», I had been there three hours and my hair looked like a lion’s mane. I came in with light strawberry blond hair and walked out with dark red hair and shocking blonde contrasts. I was more than 30 minutes late for my event and had clown hair. Nearly $ 300 and three hours of tortious work for bad hair is not my idea of a good time. The bright fluorescents in the salon are not representative of what you hair will look like when you are in day light. In 18 years of dyeing my hair, this was my least favorite color ever.
Like an idiot, I went back a few times after that incident hoping that they would get it right. All in, I have spent a few thousand dollars at Live Hair Group and not been impressed by the work. Last week, I went to a new place and LOVED my hair afterward. I don’t think Live Hair is the right fit for me and I won’t be returning– and I would recommend that you go in with caution.

Got my hair colored here for the first time and they did a great job! Laurel did my color and Joel styled. My hair is pretty dark so it was hard to get used to at first. I did light/​caramel brown balayage. The color looked great in natural light but in certain light looks a lot lighter (more like a dark blonde). I explained this to them and they fixed it for me by applying a darker shade. They were very very nice about this and booked me an appointment asap!
Prices are reasonable. Parking is available in the front or at the Granada if there isn’t an event. They will give you a «tour» of the salon and explain all this for you.
They do dry cuts here so I may come back to give that a try! They also have $ 10 happy hour styles on Fridays

I visited again recently to do the same ombré. Turns out April is now gone so I decided to go with Julie since she was in my price range.
I was already pretty comfortable since I had already met Julie when April was doing my hair the last time around, but Julie was truly fabulous and did a wonderful job on my ombré!
Not only was the ombré exactly what I wanted but my hair cut looks great as well. I have black hair so bleaching it can be pretty difficult but she didn’t rush me. Now the coloring from the glaze is pretty much gone, but it still looks awesome!
Also I highly recommend their Friday hair happy hour! $ 10 blow outs! DO IT!

I usually see Tasha but we were on vacation and I was on a budget so got with Janna and she recommended Laurel who it I remember meeting back in the day. She’s assisted Tasha with blowouts in the past.
She’s even sweeter than I remembered and made me laugh many times. Laurel is also very focused and fixed a terrible cut from another salon. She made me relax and before she was even finished I knew she understood my vision and would create the look I wanted. I finally feel like myself again and had such a wonderful time with her. I promised to see her in sept/​oct for a trim. I’ve learned my lesson. Won’t trust another salon with my hair ever again. I’m truly happy: D
