Hmpf :/Well I guess my review wasn’t far off. SInce the location closed. Heard it was over landlord issues or sump’n like that.

LBG is yet another place that I am kind of up-in-the-air about. A lot of bands play here, and I have to admit, it’s an ok place to go if that’s what you’re going for. I wouldn’t come here for the food. I tried some of my friend’s french fries one night and was less than impressed. I can get Ore Ida in the freezer section at my local grocery store. My bf also tried a burger here and didn’t really care for it much. I haven’t had much of a problem getting a drink here… last time they were out of Amstel, though, which bummed me out. The bartenders are nice as far as I am concerned. Prices aren’t too bad either. Cover can be pricey though, depending on who is playing. When my bf’s band was playing here with the Thin White Dukes, cover was ten bucks. I’d expect that at Dada, but not here.

Did a gig here last night with Zetti Carnell and hung around afterwards for the next group. Wasn’t as «divey» as I expected. Mixed crowd of all types and ages of people. A few people ordered burgers and said they were great. I would come back here anytime to grab some drinks and check out bands — wasn’t too loud — decent sound — and for a $ 5 cover would be worth it.

Nice place to hear the band and get some drinks. Prices aren’t bad either. All female bartenders that know what they’re doing.

Yikes! It takes a lot for me to dish out a one-star but after my experience at LBG, I’ll never go back. My friend’s band had their very first gig here. The place isn’t much to look at, there’s a cover to see the bands, and it looked overall pretty chill. However, it takes one bad bartender to take all that away. The bartender on duty had to be prodded and poked by the bouncer and manager several times for her to even look the way of new customers at the bar. She was too busy yakking away with regulars. While it was almost damn near impossible to get a drink, she also did something that guarantees that I’ll badmouth LBG to anyone and every that will listen. A few friends of the band were sitting at the table over and their debit card was not being read by the machine. The bartender hopped on to the stage and while the band was playing, started shoving the card in to each member of the band’s faces while she demanded to know whose card it was. Since she was on her way to ruining the band’s gig, I slammed down my credit card and said I’d pay for the drinks but for to please leave the band alone and get off the stage. She obliged me and let me pay for the drinks. When I asked if I could keep it open, she told me, «No, I’m closing you out!» I didn’t do anything wrong but pay for some drinks and try to order more but after that, I was done. Bad staff makes a bad atmosphere with crazy bad vibes. I won’t be back here.

The Lakewood Bar & Grill is hit or miss for me, mostly depending on the music — which can make the atmosphere either easy going or totally creepy. A-OK is sufficient for service and drink/food value.

I’m not sure how I feel about this local venue… its not special, but its hip. I think it could be special, but it seems like most people go because they know the band playing that night. This doesn’t bode well for a long term life… parking was a nightmare and perhaps the location makes it hard to «walk» for locals… But the bartenders are friendly and efficient, drinks aren’t expensive and it was a cool crowd.

This place had all the right tools to be one hell of a dive bar and fell short on just about eveything! We went to see a friend’s band play and I can say that we will not be catching anymore of his future shows here. We got there super early to enjoy a few drinks and food before the bands started. There was maybe a total of 10 people in the bar and our waitress approached our table with«I might not be able to be your waitress because there are only two of us here, what can I get you?». Hmm, that was a different greeting, but having worked in the service industry we offered to go straight through the bar. She then told us it didn’t matter, everything is spilt. So we ordered a round of drinks and food among our group of four, which involved two tabs. Our friends food came out, which they both ordered appetizers so we figured our chicken and shrimp baskets were on the way. Ten minutes later our waitress comes back to ask us the last name on the tab. At this time our friend’s band starts playing and about an hour into their set our food is still nowhere to be found. We finally track her down to ask about the baskets and she jokingly said, «I forgot to tell you we were out of shrimp and never rang it in». Are you freaking kidding me? On any other occasion I would have told them nevermind with the order and keep the drinks coming but I was in my if someone doesn’t feed me soon I’m going to eat my own arm mood. Sure enough, last song and our food comes. I didn’t expect the food to be anything great, but this was pretty raunchy. I am beyond irritated at this point and needed a change of scenery, so we proceed to close out our tab. A little pricier than I would have expected and started to think our little food incident might have been rang in twice. Oh no, they charged the $ 5 cover to our tabs which we had already paid at the door. Up yours LBG, we will not be back!

LBG is an a-okay place to see bands. This is another bar that I’m glad the smoking ban is in force, because I would reek of smoke after being here. Not any longer! I have experienced times when the bartenders seem overwhelmed and getting drinks is kind of tough. I’ve also been times when the service kicksass, even when super crowded. It definitely pays to get to the bar early to snag a table or a barstool. Otherwise you’re stuck standing all night. The last few times I was here they weren’t serving food, and I’m not sure why, but was told I could bring food in, so I went next door to grab a sandwich and brought it over. I can’t say that I’ve had a bad time at LBG, but usually I’m only here because I have friends playing in bands that I’m there to see. Oh, be sure to bring cash because there’s almost always a cover.

Weelll I went here last sat to see my friends band play & I have to say that this is def not my fav venue to see live bands. I couldn’t find the place for the longest, I guess cause it’s hidden in a strip mall & I was expecting it to be a separate building or something I dunno. Had to finally pull over & ask some(cute, hehe) cops where the dang place was at. The bar is SMALL& there is parking in front of it, but forget that, u won’t get any rockstar parking there, so just park across the street in the bank parking lot(or whatever that building was, safe to park there tho, promise) Like i said, place is waayyy small, the second u walk in the stage & bar are all right there. I don’t believe there is a patio, so u cancer stick addicts are goin to have to class it up & smoke in the front on the sidewalk. Anywaayy I’ll live if I never go here again lol:-)

Well I had some mixed feelings about this place. I will say this is a great place to see a band. I go to lots of places by myself so a lot of things come into play for me. This is pretty much a dive — certainly nothing fancy. Ladies — don’t over dress for this place and don’t waste good lip gloss. To be a GOOD dive however, this place really needs a pool table, dart boards or something and it doesn’t. That would likely bump my score up for this place. If you just want to check out a band and drink then this place may be good for you and your buddies. I don’t really drink much so I expect more out of a place. Mostly couples when I went but it was Halloween night so that may account for it. The bar staff was very friendly. So I won’t totally bash the place but I’ve been to better dives.

The LBG is a great place to see Diamondbag, a Neil Diamond tribute band. I was very excited when I saw they had groupies! For a dive bar, this place is alright by me. Towards the end of the night the bar starts to smell like fried catfish because of the way the close up the kitchen, but it’s really not so bad all things considered. The drinks are reasonable and since the smoking ban went into effect, it’s easier to stay at LBG longer.

Get the tater tots! There’s always a cover to see the bands but it’s only around $ 5 and there are usually at least 3 bands playing. I like that they ask you which band you’re there to see so the money doesn’t just go into some big pot to split up at the end of the night. I only go to see friends’ bands so I get there very early to get some good real estate. It gets packed quickly and there is an obstacle course to get to the bathroom which usually doesn’t lock all the way so you get to pee on one leg while holding the door with the other. But the line in the ladies room is so long there’s always someone there to hold the door for ya. The bartenders are ok, they’re usually swamped when I’m there so I won’t judge just yet. Parking is pretty easy unless Lakewood Theater has an event going. I think Thursday nights are your best bet for good cheap music.

Went last night for a great concert. For a dive bar in an awesome neighborhood this place has a great set up for music. You can actually hear the lyrics, make out what they are saying. The acoustics were better than what I remember out of the Lakewood Theatre. Didn’t try the food… Wanted to… But the drink prices weren’t bad. Miller Lite was $ 3.50, well vodka was $ 4.50. Can’t complain about that for Dallas.

Needing to eat before we started our evening at The Balcony Club, we went by Lakewood Bar and Grill and hoped for an early dinner. This is one darrrrrrk bar. When you walk in, it’s pitch black and it takes a minute or two for your eyes to adjust to the darkness. One thing I immediately felt was the warmth in the room. Duuuude, I know it’s spring and we’re in the«now it’s hot/now it’s cold» time of year, but seriously. Nobody likes to sweat into their Bud. Crack the door or something. We ordered a round and inquired about menus but we were told the cook doesn’t even arrive until 7:30. *sigh* So we drank our beers, paid and left. On the way out, there was a guy sitting by the door, next to a sign that said«Point to who are you here to see.» with 4 or 5 band names on the peice of paper and a $ 7 cover charge. Dude, if I would have paid $ 7 to sit in heat and not eat I would have been pizzzzzzed. Seems like a cool dive bar, I think I might have even been there once before back in da’ day, but… meh, maybe I’ll be back to see a band play or som’n.

This place is small and cozy. Music is provided. And drinks are reasonably priced. You can park along the street or in a nearby parking lot.

This is an extremely small venue and smoking is allowed, so be prepared for some second hand smoke. Do not let the name fool you, when they say bar and grill, they mean that they have a small menu and they are in no way a restaurant. They are a small bar, but they do have some great local bands come in and play and the cover cost is only about 7.00 to see them. You need to get there extremely early or else you will have to stand as there is limited seating. The drinks are decently priced and everyone there is there to have fun. I do want to point out that the crowd is a little older – people in their late 30s and mid 40s are who frequent this place. Depending on the band of course, they do also draw a younger crowd.

I am still laughing from all of the shenanigans that went down here last night. And I know I am still a bit tipsy too…24 hours later. It was THAT good of a time. But it always seems to turn into those kind of nights when I meet up with the company I did last night. Oh jeez… My friends play in a band called The Vehicle Reason. If you don’t know, now you know because they will melt your face off. And that’s exactly what they did last night. Lakewood is a somewhat small venue, with dark walls, smoky air, one stall bathrooms, and a very mixed crowd. The age range is quite wide too being that I met my friend’s lovely mother while she was rockin’ out along with a couple others that were in the over 30 club.(I’m getting closer and closer to that club ps.) I met a girl from London? who told me my hair had dried ends(she had me at hello), a dude who plays in an ‘80s metal band with hair down to his boobies donning pleather black pants, and a couple strippers in the making who like to wear lingerie to the bar and jump up on stage and molest band members while they’re playing.(I bet he takes you home to meet mama.) The stage is small, but makes for a more intimate concert which is cool if you’re seeing a good band. Live music happens nightly and bands usually start at 9:30pm. Cover charge is $ 3 on weekdays and can go up to $ 10 on weekends. Drinks are priced pretty normal – A Heineken is four bones, while a Kettle One and soda(with a lemon) is 6 bucks. So notes my tab, though it might have said more than one of each at the night’s end. «Might» meaning it definitely did. I didn’t get a chance to eat the food, but I did hear someone say that their burger was good. The menu consists of appetizers like quesadillas, chicken fingers, cheese fries and chips and queso. They also serve pizza, sandwiches and salads. Come here for their daily burger special from 11 am — 2 pm where you can get a 1/3lb. burger served with fries or tots and a soda for $ 3.99. Dude, tots! Overall this place is pretty cool and has enough seating to hookup a large group. So bring your friends next time the Vehicle Reason plays. I’ll be sure to post their shows on the events page.( ) But again I’m warning you, they will melt your face off. Hey guys if you’re reading this, how ’bout next show you wear jammies? I hear it’s a GREAT idea.

This is a neighborhood bar. I’m not sure I would classify it as a «dive» since all the outside signs are still working, but it’s close, in a good way. The burgers are tasty, the drinks are affordable, the staff is nice. It’s small. Tiny. If there’s a band you want to see, get there early and stake a claim to a table. If there’s a band you don’t want to see, get there early, grab a table and sell it to the highest bidder before they start the first set! Just for the vibe, I’m adding it to my Pubs list. It’s an honorary pub.

Classic dive bar with live bands on the weekend… go when the Poison cover band Poison Cherry is playing for a really great time. The food isn’t bad too and the drink prices are alright… unless you drink as much as I do… ha!
