I really wanted to like this place. **sigh** The waitress was friendly. The salsa and chips were good, the queso they serve with this chips is good. The waitress and the chips/queso/salsa are the reason they got a two star. I ordered the Carne Asada. It is a slab of pork that has been cooked on a skillet, comes with rice and beans. The beans they served with my meal were not edible. First time in my life I can recall just not liking beans. They were not good whatsoever. The meat was tough, chewy, and filled with fat. Not good at all. I kept cutting around it trying to enjoy it, but it wasn’t good. The rice was bland. I ended up not eating the meat, the rice, the beans, or much on my plate. It was not good. Look, I’m a hearty eater and not too picky. I like divey joints that are authentic. This place was not good. I get this feeling there are those who are super loyal to their style. I just did not like what I ordered to be honest. The place isn’t very clean. I won’t be returning. Maybe you should give them a try, write your own review, maybe I just didn’t order the right things. I don’t like speaking negatively of a restaurant, especially local ones that aren’t backed by big corporate dollars. I want to see this place make it. Support them, give honest reviews, and maybe things can get better.

Delicious authentic Mexican food. I usually get the shrimp cocktail and it’s amazing. Great prices too. This place is usually crowded on the weekends and parking can be a pain. Customer service is not the best either. They usually have a mariachi band and they will play whatever song you’d like, for tips. My parents love mariachis. I took 2 stars off my rating due to sub par customer service from the previous 2 waitresses.

This is a great place to come for an authentic feel, good food at a reasonable price, and a no frills atmosphere. Most of the diners here are Hispanic which to me is a good sign. They lose a star for bad parking, and pretty bad margaritas. They are this weird green color and have that chemically taste.

I had the Pescado Frito entero(whole fried catfish) and it tasted amazing. The condiments that they served me prior to my meal were absolutely delicious. The free queso dip was the best I’ve ever had… So, you may ask why am I rating this restaurant a 1… ROACHES… I was finishing my awesome meal and I was met with 3 nasty fking roaches… I’m not coming back. Too bad… I absolutely LOVED the food… P. S. I was dying to try their carne asada which most people were ordering… I’ll never find out but I bet it was good. I just cannot see beyond the roach infe

No complaints on the food but the service here sucks! Waitress was forgetting shit and making us faces that were inappropriate. Damn shame… Would’ve gave it more stars, but not while she is still an employee there. Bad employees, bad service, bad reviews. Plain and simple.

I went today. There was a bug or roach in my tea. Waitress didn’t even apologize or take fault in it. She just took out the drink and switched it out for a Diet Coke instead. I didn’t hear back from anyone and was disappointed that they didn’t even come to say something about it. It seems like they have a lack of care for clientele satisfaction when it comes to the dining experience beyond the food.

My bf had eaten here 10 yrs ago and remembered it was really good. Eventhough it was on the opposite side of town, we decided to go. He got the fried shrimp, which i tasted and they were good. I got the lunch fajita chicken. It was GREAT. Only $ 6.95 and large portion. Came with all the fixins including guacamole, sourcream, beans, rice and homemade corn tortillas. I was impressed. Complimentary salsa and queso were good too. We will definately go there again. There are daily specials. Thursday is the fajita chicken day so thats probably when we will go again. Totally worth the drive from Las Colinas. Glad we decided on a whim to drive out there.

This review is solely for the lunch special — fish fajitas. Great fish, lots of veggies, beans, and rice. Excellent tortillas. Friendly service. Cheaper than I’d expected, too. I love coming here for lunch.

I dont know where to start on this one i never wrote a review ever in my life but i had too on this one because the owner or lady with the heels that claims to be the owner thought i wouldnt, but i did. I went to this restaurant on Saturday noon right after picking up my mother-in-law from the dfw airport. We all ordered everything good so far I noticed they had a seafood soup. I ordered it. I started spooning the soup around until i saw a fish with the fins on it still and with lil bones… yea not really a big deal but usually i dont worry about having to pick out all the little bones in order for me not to choke… I politely asked the waiter to exchange my plate for a simple fried catfish plate. The waiter denied because there had to be something wrong with the food to return it. i told her i didnt know the fish had bones or didnt know there would be a whole fish in my soup. I advised her i will jus not be paying for it and ill just not eat. Waiter agreed and when i asked for my check she stated she could not remove the 10.99 soup and that if i wanted it was in the back and she could have it ready to go for me. She said if i wanted to fight that i would have to speak to the owner. The owner ask me if everything was ok and politely told her if she could remove the soup since i didn’t even eat it. The owner replied she could not do that. After that i explained what was wrong and the supposedly female owner said she cannot do anything to help me i told her that was not how you treat customers then she told me «ITSOKWEHAVEPLENTYOFCLIENTELE» i told her i would write a review of the bad experience and how rude she was. She kept saying its not our fault you didnt like the food then i told her it wasnt even about the food anymore i was so surprised on how this lady handled business never in the nevers has a restaurant told me no you cant get a different plate not even at the fanciest of the fanciest restaurants… I would not advise anybody to spend money on this restaurant that does not focus on customer service but only entirely on their money… but if you do eat here make sure you get what you want and be very sure of it because you cant get a refund once you taste it… according to the owner… i wouldnt risk it though especially with all those ugly vibes and energies they gave out bad impression as a little business or whatever you want to call it.

I cannot speak highly enough of this place or the staff. The food is great, very generous portions especially for what I usually get on the lunch menu. I’ve never spent more than $ 13 here with a drink and tip. Their house chips come with two types of salsa and QUESO. Fajitas with Fish are highly recommended. I work in the area and come here 1 – 2 times a week, it’s by far my favorite Mexican lunch spot.

I came in during lunch and they had a chicken fajita special for $ 6.95(wednesday deal) which was stellar because that’s what I wanted! The food was delicious, huge, and so cheap! The server had multiple tables but was still very attentive, my water glass was never empty. They had $ 4 top shelf margaritas(tuesday & wednesday) which I’ve never seen before so I tried one. The best margarita I have ever had! $ 23 for two full sized meals(and two full sized to go boxes) and two fabulous margaritas? I think so! Nothing about this experience was negative. Definitely coming back!

Restaurant is in a new location and has been there for a couple of years(corner of Beacon and Grand). We’ve lived in the area for several years but this is the first time to try it. We’d seen the good reviews but had other favorites in the area. Decided to give them a try and they did not disappoint. Had the shrimp enchiladas and they did not skimp on the shrimp. It came with rice and beans and the rice was tasty. Normally I find refried beans bland and have to do something like add salsa or salt to it but theirs was fine as is. The only complaint of the night was that the chips were a little stale. However the fresh homemade corn tortillas made up for it.

Excellent lunch specials with all the usual suspects. The chili base in the beef enchiladas is perfecto and I don’t have any complaints about the chicken enchiladas. Big portions on the fajita platter. Good salsa and free queso. The lunches are reasonable to the point of being cheap. Will get down here for a dinner. They do take-out orders but don’t have a paper take-out menu(or a website), so load a pic of the menu into your telephone. The restaurant is in a dog-ass shopping center across the street from the Samuell/Grand fire station. This is not the restaurant of the same name that was located on Columbia & Beacon and has closed.

We got a little lost going to this place. Two locations popped up and the address on Columbia took us around in circles. I loved the mariachi band. They are a very talented group — so much so, the bf requested three songs and sang along. He seemed to be reminiscing and sang with his eyes closed — which was interesting to watch because I’d never seen him like that before. The menu looked authentic and promising, but the food was just ok. We had ceviche and fried fish, but none of it was really anything worth raving about. Bf got a business card from the mariachi guys so I guess if he feels homesick and wants to see them again, he can just call him up, lol.

This place is delicious. And like everyone else says you get a free bowl of queso and unlimited chips and salsa. Their lunch specials are amazing, Tues — Thurs $ 5.55 fajitas! Service is great too. Area is a little dodgy but nothing you wouldn’t expect.

It’s decent Mexican food. Their queso and chimichanga and shrimp cocktail are great. I don’t like their caldo de mariscos and their rice is mediocre. As of right now there is no liquor license so you won’t get a margarita.

**This review was originally written on 11÷28÷08 and was posted to the wrong location. This is just a little Unilocal housekeeping to get it right.** Forget the fact that La Acapulquena is located in a part of town that might inspire you to carry a can of mace tucked into your bra and a switchblade in your boot. It’s worth it. I promise. In addition to chips and salsa, you get a bowl of queso — cheesy goodness with chunks of tomato, onion and jalepenos. And each person is given their own bowl of each. Because we all know that one tiny little bowl in the middle of the table isn’t going to cut it. According to my scale, this is reason enough for my 5 stars. But it doesn’t stop there. Not only is the service quick and attentive, the food is incredible. And cheap. The Friday lunch special is beef or chicken quesadillas for $ 5.55, served with freshly made guacamole and pico de gallo, sour cream and lettuce. That’s enough to get excited about, until you realize that it’s fajita meat. And it’s cry-in-your-beer good. Hot, gooey and just greasy enough to all melt together. I finished off my meal of pure gluttony with flan. It was exactly as flan should be and was only $ 2.99. That’s a complete lunch, including drink and dessert, for under $ 10. East Dallas, folks. It’s worth the police escort.
