Kenny’s Italian Kitchen

I made a reservation 2 wks in advance for a Sat. night for my wife’s b-​day last month. We had 12 in our party and they were very accommodating. The table was ready on time, the food was excellent by all reports and they were great with the cake and candles there were brought in ahead of time. The bone-​in veal parm was large and on point. The bartender even made a decent crown and coke (or 4), which is rare unless you order a double at most restaurants. Great service too from our waiter, which isn’t easy for 12.

Came in here on a Monday afternoon. The place was pretty dead but I wanted to check it out because I had heard some good things. We were seated right away and got to ordering, the guy who seated us was really nice.
We got the Midnight meatballs and prosciutto wrapped mozzarella as apps. Both were decent, the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella was essentially just cheese sticks though, the prosciutto was extremely thinly sliced. However, I did enjoy them.
After the apps, I had a Caesar salad. The fresh polenta croutons were unexpected and AWESOME. I commented on how good they were and our server brought us a whole bowl of them, very cool.
For my main course I got the eggplant parm. My buddy got the lobster fra diavola. It’s usually only on the dinner menu only but they made it for him anyways. It was a massive plate of lobster, shrimp, and mussels sitting on a bed of pasta.
The eggplant parm wasn’t huge but it was perfect for what I was looking for, especially considering I had already had two appetizers, a salad, and some bread. It was a bit on the saltier side, and in my opinion the eggplant was cut too thick, so the center wasn’t as cooked as I’d like. The noodles it came with were just basic spaghetti noodles, but they were good.
My friend enjoyed the fra diavola. He said it was ‘better than he was expecting’.
Overall, the atmosphere was cool, food was decent, and service was really good. Good prices as well. I would come here again with the expectations I now have.

The food was amazing! Nice portions friendly and informed staff. They have full bar food came fast and tasted fresh you have to check this place out! Ashley was a great server ask for her!

I just wanted to update and say that Kenny’s contacts some in Unilocal and I responded. They mailed me a gift certificate for us to try them again and we will. Also, as far our reservation snafu goes… the person who took my reservation put it on the wrong date. I got a phone call the following Saturday asking if we were coming. I explained what happened. They apologized.
We will be trying again.

Being a vegan, I was able to custom order a dish. Which was absolutely delicious. Linguine pasta, olive oil, garlic, spicy peppers, hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, and olives. Superb!
My boyfriend ordered the chicken Marsala with a side of pasta with carbonara. The Marsala was way too sweet for him and the carbonara was Alfredo topped with bacon. They really missed it with him. Therefore, we won’t be back. Sadly, the food wasn’t a hit but the wine and waiter were awesome.
When we left… our car was right at the door waiting for us. Valet was on point.

Best Italian food in the north Dallas area I’ve had so far. At minimum best in the Addison area. Service is always great, good prices, made fresh and takes me back to visiting in Italy.
Cute ambiance inside as well. Great for any occasion!

Cheese sticks wrapped in prucitto a must with the Marsala sauce. So good. Bread came out hot and creamy. Lobster Diablo is enough for two people to share. Lots of seafood in it. Drinks are pretty weak. Overall good dinner

4.5 stars. Had a great dinner at Kenny’s tonight! I went straight after work to avoid having to make a reservation for myself. I was greeted and seated right away!
Scared that I would overorder as I always do (even when alone), I declined on appetizers, but my amazing waiter, Kareem offered me with the Garlic Bread with cheese and a small plate with a piece of the Bruschetta, a Proscuitti Wrapped Fried Mozzarella, as well as a Midnight Meatball. They were scrumptious, fresh, and flavorful. I especially recommend the meatball as the meat melted in my mouth.
Unable to settle on a plate of pasta, I asked Kareem to help me decide between the Chicken Scaloppini and Shrimp Scampi. To my utter surprise, he said he would give me half of each. As a total foodie who doesn’t have enough time to try everything, this made my day. The pasta was great, but I found the Shrimp Scampi sauce (garlic butter and white whine) to be on the salty side. I was more of a fan of the Chicken Scaloppini — the chicken was tender, the smoked bacon was crispy, and the capers were so flavorful.
Because I came during Happy Hour, I was able to grab a glass of Line 39 for $ 5 :). Though I was absolutely and utterly stuffed, I ended up grabbing some tiramisu for dessert. It was simply delightful. More wet than I expected, but indeed a great treat.
The portions are gigantic and the prices are low! 95% of the pasta dishes are below $ 20 and all but one appetizer is below $ 10. Not to mention, you have a great selection here. There’s different specialty, chicken, veal, steak, and seafood pasta dishes. You’ve got different kinds of salads, desserts, drinks, and wine!
Alright, I should really stop typing, but the service is outstanding! Kareem was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, and he kept an extremely close eye on my table. Another gentleman whose name I did not catch (David?), came by to ask about my food and bid me good wishes when I finished eating. I had a great time!

What a great place to dine in for Italian food! This place is centrally located in the Addison area with a lot of restaurants nearby so it is a busy place. There was a 45 minutes wait for us which wasn’t super bad and we waited at a bar nearby until then. The pricing wasn’t too bad and the portions were pretty large. We made our dinner a special night so we ordered a bottle of wine along with appetizer. You can’t go wrong with wine and pasta.
I ordered the chicken picatta and that was sooo good. The seasoning (lemon, butter, and white wine) and cream were good consistency and I finished the entire plate quickly. My boyfriend ordered a veal dish (sorry, I can’t remember the name) but the veal was really soft and juicy. I am tempted to try the same dishes again the next time I come here but they have so much to offer.
Our waiter was awesome and very nice toward us. Overall, great place and look forward to coming back!

Service was fantastic (that’s why I give them ³⁄₅). Went there for the first time 1÷14÷15 for my husband’s birthday. I ordered the eggplant parm and he got the mushroom ravioli. We also go the bruschetta app. The app was tasty and had the right balance of sweet salty and garlic. My entrée, however, was undercooked. I don’t like crunchy eggplant that doesn’t melt in your mouth like it should. The cut was likely too thick.
My husband said his food was decent, but the waiter said the original sauce for the ravioli had ham so they could either strain the ham out to make it «pretend» to be vegetarian (YUCK) or give him a different sauce.
I really wish they had more vegetarian choices. They had two on the entrée portion of the menu. And there is no soup or salad included in the lunch price averaging $ 12 per person so I personally wouldn’t come again and pay over $ 30 for two people for a weekday lunch.

Great ambiance, great staff and great food! I had the spaghetti and meatballs with marinara and it was just too good. The pasta was cooked right and marinara was money!
Definitely will visit Kenny’s when I am in Dallas!

Dallas is hurting for a decent Italian restaurant. I would say Kennys is slightly above the quality of Olive Garden. Let me explain.
Service: Terrible. The service is slow, really slow. We first sat at the bar to order a glass of wine as we waited for our table. The bartender took 15 min to notice our existence. She was obnoxiously loud and was spending her time chatting up a gentleman at the bar. When we got to our table our waitress was very inattentive. I felt that she had a lot of tables on her hands and was having a hard time juggling them. We had to grab her to order our food. When we received our food we had no utensils. I had to get up, head to the service bar and grab my own utensils.
Food: Mediocre. I can make better Italian food at home. I grew up with Italians in the east coast and this is nothing like authentic Italian food. The garlic bread. Was disgustingly drenched in clarified butter. It was soggy and just plain nasty. We also ordered the mozzarella tomato salad and the clams as appetizers. The salad was pretty good! The balsamic was too sweet for my taste but everything else was not bad. Unfortunately the clams were extremely over cooked, to the point of being rubbery. Additionally they did not give us bread with the clams which is weird. We had to ask if they served bread with the dish and they did which was complimentary without an order of clams. Why would you not give your customers bread when you sit down if it’s complimentary? Oh right. They want you to order their soggy clarified garlic butter bread. Womp womp. My boyfriend ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and I ordered the eggplant parm as our main dishes, quintessential Italian dishes. My boyfriend said that the meatballs at Sparro’s (yes the restaurant at the food court in your local ghetto mall) is better than the ones they serve at Kennys. My eggplant parm wasn’t cooked all the way, so bits of the eggplant was still hard. The sauce and spaghetti was not that bad. Although the sauce didn’t seem to stick to the pasta rather than the sauce was just plopped on top. You can achieve this by tossing the pasta in the sauce, cooking 101. At the end of the meal I was just frustrated and ready to leave.
Conclusion: I would never come here again.
I don’t understand why this place has such high reviews, although the Italian selection in DFW is utter poop. I think the staff recognized the frustration and wanted to comp a dessert. We really just wanted to leave so we opted out. The manager then gave us a $ 15 gift card instead. Again, even with the gift card I wouldn’t come back. Im a big fan of Kennys wood fire grill, but this place just fell short. Solid 2 stars because it’s still better than Olive Garden :(

My husband and I decided to try Kennys Italian again after our dismal first experience. Tonight’s experience was WONDERFUL! Ryan our server was attentive and knowledgeable. His dinner recommendations were right on! Here’s what we had:
Drinks: my husband ordered the spicy margarita and I had an amaretto sour. My husband loved his drink. It was a little too tart for me but I was glad that he liked it. My drink was good also.
Appetizer: cheesy garlic bread and a complimentary meatball. The garlic bread was good. A little doughy but tasty! I ate three pieces! Ryan gave us a complimentary meatball and it was also delicious!
Salad: husband ordered the Gorgonzola salad and I ordered the Italian salad with dressing on the side. The Gorgonzola said was really good! I wasn’t a fan of the Italian salad. The next time I’m here (There will definitely be a next time) I will get the Gorgonzola salad.
Entrée: Chicken Parmesan with Alfredo and Scallops with pasta and lemon cream sauce. I had the chicken and it was amazing! Ryan my awesome server gave be extra sauce which i didn’t need but was very grateful for. I dipped my bread in the sauce. Yummy! My husband had the scallops and said they were the best he’s ever had. I was surprised at the size of his scallops. They were huge. They were the size of sliders!
Dessert: Turtle Cheesecake — I ordered my dessert to go. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m sure it will be delicious!
Kennys Italian is my new favorite Italian restaurant. When you go, ask for Ryan and don’t forget to try the garlic bread and Alfredo sauce!

Wow, I am so glad my parents introduced me to this amazing gem tucked away at the shopping center at Beltline and the Tollway. From the outside you wouldn’t know how cozy and authentic this Italian restaurant feels. The service was excellent. The ambiance was romantic but appropriate for a small family dinner. The chicken parm was INSANE. I think this goes in my top 3 chicken parm experiences in my life (two other experiences were in Boston and NYC). If you are looking for an authentic Italian meal in a romantic/​dimly lit setting, this is the place!

4 for atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff and very nice of them to give me a gift card for my birthday… 3.5 for the food… The bruschetta was my favorite definitely order it. We were eight people and they got us in at our reservation time. The shrimp scampi was liked by everyone that ordered it. I like that they allow you to combine 2 different entrees (flavors can get mixed but it’s still fine)… The tomato basil soup was very good but the cheese bread/​garlic bread was just ok. I liked the chicken scallopini, and the gnocchi was cooked well. I wish they would bring our bread when you sit down it would just give it more of that Italian feel.
Definitely go for that cozy family dinner.

I have to add to my response — as Kenny’s management immediately asked me «what happened».
I told them in no simple terms. They listened and thanked me. They wanted to know, wanted to know to make it right next time.
This is true management /​ownership taking responsibility and I respect that.
Kenny’s is an awesome restaurant chain here in north Dallas.
Come try Kenny’s Burgers, Kenny’s smokehouse, basically anything with the word Kenny’s in front of it.
The food is awesome and as this management response shows they want to make everyone’s dinning experience one to remember.
I will give Kenny’s Italian again soon.

We spent our work holiday lunch here and we had a wonderful time !
The service is great ! We had special attention with our group. The attendants were awesome !
The food: a good size menu that’s not overwhelming. We ordered a variety of appetizers, meatballs, mozzarella sticks, bruschetta, every single thing wonderful ! The meatballs were my fav! I ordered half lasagne, half shrimp scampi. It was delicious ! Everything came on time. Win !
I can’t stress enough how good the food is ! I will definitely be back !

Kenny’s Wood Grill across the highway from this restaurant is, without hyperbole, THE superlative to me in terms of restaurants. I was expecting something just as good and amazing from this place, and I guess my hopes were way too high. Nonetheless, it was good, and I think I’ll be coming back again. I’ll simply review the items I had as it was my first time here. The atmosphere is quite casual, and the waiters aren’t the nicest or anything noteworthy.
For appetizers we started with bruschetta and Tomatoes & Mozzarella. The bruschetta was warm and the cherry tomatoes tasted great, very sweet and had a strong smooth flavor. My partner liked the tomatoes & mozzarella a lot– the tomato is cut VERY thick, at least ¾ of an inch thick, and the three slices were much bigger than the palm of my hand. They were topped with mozzarella cheese, which I do not like but my companion said she did.
I’d highly recommend the bruschetta, it tastes original and I loved the tomatoes and warm soft bread used to make it. One thing I would implore is that they serve these two items garnished with basil. We asked for some separately and it elevated the flavor of both items drastically.
For the main course we had the following. Only one of them were noteworthy to both of us, so much so that we must return just for one particular dish.
*Veal Marsala: This was my first time trying veal. To me, the dish was close to horrible, but maybe that is because I do not like veal. The cut was paper thin yet still not tender at all and rubbery. The flavor, tasted exactly like the meat that comes from a chunky soup can, very underwhelming. I ate it all. However, for the price, it was terrible.
We got a half/​half plate of the following, and it was a big regret. We really should have gotten a full dish of the chicken scallopini!
*Chicken Parmigiana: tasted like it was from a frozen TV dinner. Actually, I’ve had better frozen Chicken Parm. The chicken tasted exactly like a frozen cut that I get at the grocery store, along with the tomato sauce which tasted like it was straight from a can.
However, Everything was redeemed with the *CHICKEN SCALOPPINI! Very rich white cream sauce with tender chicken. I am astonished how the sup-​par Chicken Parm and grungy veal Marsala were from the same place as the scallopini.
Me and my ever aspiring dining partner have thus agreed to come again some day to have just the bruschetta and mozzarella tomatoes with chicken scallopini. I’m scared that anything else on the menu will be bad, so we’ll stick with the delicious chicken scallopini.

Amazing food. My sister and I bypassed the wait and lucked up on 2 seats at the bar. I got the baked ziti/​lasagna combo. My sister got the mushroom ravioli and lasagna.
Our conversation stopped for a good 10 minutes due to us wanting to savor the taste. I was so impressed. Mushroom ravioli was heavenly (i stole a few bites from her plate). Lasagna and baked ziti were close second. Even down to the bread was delicious. My sister and I have put this on our places to keep on our list of go-to’s. DIdn’t even matter that we could barely see one another due to it being so dim in there haha.

4 stars for service, 3 for food.
The restaurant was busy for an early weeknight. We were greeted right away and seat promptly. The waitress was very patient with our table, while we were being very indecisive with everything. We started with a bottle of Malbec. The wine was not goo bc it was not as full bodied as I liked. However, one of our friends agreed to keep the bottle. The calamari was fried well. The garlic bread is overrated. My entrée was fine, the tomato sauce was not favorite. The service was very quick and nice, though.

I was Nordstrom Rack, so I figured I would stop by here to try it out again. Seems like management cares about patrons’ opinions because someone contacted me about my experiences.
The restaurant was packed but it was a Sunday night. I opted for the bar seating. Tasted my red wine before settling for a bottle of Dreaming Tree. Ordered the calamari, since it was good last time. Still consistent, still yummy! As for entrée, I steered away from the red sauce. I ordered the chicken cappolini and pasta carbonara. I liked this entrée better than the spaghetti and meatballs. The bar staff was attentive and checked on my friend and me often, so thumbs up.

We love Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill and so decided to try his Italian Kitchen. As usual, Kenny’s excels at everything. Kenny’s is the type of place that you not only thoroughly enjoy the food, but are happy that you spent the money for the experience. As is true for his other restaurants, the service is impeccable, friendly, and helpful. The wait staff is very well trained and seem genuinely interested in customers having the best experience possible.
We started with bruschetta and it was the best by far we ever had. We were afraid that it may be too much because Kenny’s has big portions, but the bruschetta was surprising light and refreshing. They use fresh tomatoes and everything is seasoned perfectly. There is a hint of sweetness from high quality balsamic vinegar. It was simply phenomenal and a perfect starter.
The wife ordered the chicken scallopini and it too was stupendous. The chicken breast had been pounded thin and was so tender that it literally melted in your mouth. The flavors from the various components came together to make a perfect dish. Of course, the portion was large so she only finished half, but she has the other half to look forward to.
I could not decide between the lasagne and mushroom ravioli, each of which is highly rated, so the server suggested I go half and half. It was the perfect idea. Each came on a separate plate so as not to run together. I loved the mushroom ravioli and they were clearly some of the best I have ever had. The sauce was delicious and really made the dish. The lasagne was also some of the best I have ever had, maybe even better than mine! There is a hint of sweetness from fresh tomatoes used in the sauce. The flavor was excellent and I was very happy to have been able to try both. I finished the ravioli but only got half way through the lasagne, so I have a lunch waiting for me.
We finished with a cannoli and it was excellent, great flavor and not too sweet.
Overall, it was a very high quality experience and I understand why the restaurant fills up. We will undoubtedly return to try more menu items.

You don’t need to be Giada de Laurentiis to know this is good Italian food, but if you want a figure like Giada, then you came to the wrong place.
The restaurant has a typical italiany feel to it. The checkered table clothes, dark lighting, and wooden tables. Great for groups.
We had a big party but I was really disappointed in the service. We also ordered half portions but we were still charged lunch prices which were close in price to the dinner dishes.
What’s good:
The salmon is a must try, the eggplant parm is really good, the cheese ravioli is, the veal is good, and I loved the chicken parm.
The only disappointment was the fettuccine. Nothing good about it.
I really like this place but a lot of plates are lathered in butter, in some of the dishes it basically tastes like you’re eating butter.

Came here to eat a couple times during my visits to Dallas. The inside has a nice, romantic sort of atmosphere. They also have a patio which is more casual and a bar to eat at.
My first night I started with the Brushetta which comes with about 6 pieces of bread and plenty of toppings. I would have to put it up there as some of the best I’ve had. Their house bread (complimentary) is also pretty good, and comes out soft and warm. I had their nightly special which was a bow-​tie pasta in a white sauce with mushrooms, tomatoes, and capers topped with sliced grilled chicken. Wish I could remember the name (bad Elite, I know). The sauce was very creamy with lots of sauce. You would want to take the house bread they give you to soak it up after you finished (Eat all the carbs!). The chicken was tender and moist.
Second night I started with the garlic bread. It was good, but the Brushetta is definitely worth the extra $ 2. For my main course, I had the chicken parmigiana/​parmesan. Man this was also delicious. I think I’m more of a red sauce fan, so I enjoyed it more than the other main dish I had. Pretty good sauce. It’s a nice piece of chicken, with breading that is wells seasoned and not too thick. I got a meatball added to my side of spaghetti that it comes with which was also good.
The dishes are huge and prices are very reasonable. I can imagine you can order anything off the menu and be happy.
I sat at the bar both nights, and service was pretty good.

Came here twice in two weeks for a birthday and going away party! This place is awesome because they can accommodate big parties on the weekend which we had a hard time finding a restaurant that does on fri/​sat night!
The food is amazing here! I honestly isn’t a big fan of Italian cuisine but WOW this place has some real delicious seafood pasta! If you’re a big seafood lover like me then you must try their shrimp and clam pasta! The shrimp and clams were all super fresh! The only complaint I have is the seafood pasta were all taste kinda sour. I assumed they added lime juice because it didn’t taste like anything was spoiled. The other awesome thing about this place is you can get half pasta order on all pasta dishes! All of their red sauce pasta are just okay.
Service is great! Will be back!
