Kelli Slate, DDS

I’ve been going to see Dr Slate for many years. She has mastered the art of the pain-​free injections and she and her staff work together like a well-​oiled machine. It costs a little bit more to go to this practice, but it is always worth it. Everyone is really nice from the front office to Dr Slate.

I have been coming to Dr. Slate’s office for two years. Dr. Slate and the office are very friendly and professional. I have had the regular cleanings, a couple simple fillings, and just ordered a mouth guard for my teeth grinding at night. They never try to push anything. They tell you your options and let you make the decision. They also do a great job of reminding you of your appointment dates, which I often forget.
Highly recommend them!

Friendly and mostly professional staff. But earlier this year I was given a prescription toothpaste that I didn’t realize until my next six-​month visit was the reason my teeth were getting extremely stained. I told them my concern and they said oh yes, that’s a side effect of the toothpaste we gave you. They hadn’t told me that that was a possible side effect! Fortunately it was resolved by a simple polishing.
However, at the next visit they gave me another toothpaste that again stained my teeth. Fortunately, I’ve only been using it for a week or so, but I couldn’t believe they had given me another product that stained my teeth without any warning of possible side effects.
Also at my last visit, they told me that I had several teeth I seriously needed to watch for cavities. The way the assistant and Dr. Slate delivered the news and went on about it did not put me at ease at all. I was extremely surprised as well, because I am on a very, very low-​sugar diet, and my last visit six months ago went well… They could not think of any other legitimate reasons that I would have cavities, so I did not leave with confidence that they knew what was going on in my situation or that Dr. Slate truly cared to find out. I was also very surprised how bad they made the situation sound, given that my visit six months ago went perfectly well… I feel like this could have been prevented if they had taken the time to figure out what was going on with me.

Dr. Slate is great as well as her staff. She provides high quality work. The wait times are minimal. Easy parking. The office isnt open on Fridays which can be tough.

This dentist is just OK. The office is nice enough — clean, bright and fairly modern. The dentist, Kelli Slate, is friendly and competent. The hygienists seem competent as well and are friendly. They seemed intent on selling me an electric toothbrush, but it wasn’t a hard sell. They seemed to want to convince me to have other work done (replace my old fillings) besides the cleaning — «before it becomes a problem.» It could be reasonable suggestion, but I’m not certain I trust them. It felt like when you are at the mechanic and he says you need new brakes. My biggest problem with them is their payment policy. They require a payment up-​front of what they estimate my insurance will not cover. This is annoying, but OK I suppose — except, when the insurance does come in and I have over-​paid (which is always) they do not automatically refund me the difference. I have to call and ask them to refund me the difference. Pain in the butt to keep track of who owes what to who when it shouldn’t be that difficult. Also, while the reception staff is friendly, they don’t mind making you wait forever. I waited for a half hour before my «appointment» (what’s the purpose of making an appointment?) and then had to wait again at the end to «check out» while the receptionist had a non-​dental conversation with another customer for 15 minutes! And she knew I was there waiting to check out. Not the best customer consideration. I intend to look for a new dentist.
