The first time I went here for a gel mani with a friend, I got the worst manicure I’d ever gotten. The technician filed my nails down to the nail bed in an uneven square shape(I prefer rounded but she didn’t ask) and went crazy on my cuticles. The polish was lumpy and sticking to my fingers and the whole thing took almost 90 minutes. My friend’s nails looked fantastic and the service was so cheap, I decided to give it another try a couple of weeks later. This time I went to Tina and got a fantastic gel manicure($ 25) and a great eyebrow wax($ 10). My advice — if you go to Jeanie Nails, ask for Tina.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Got Shellac nails last Wednesday and the very next day one nail chipped. I went on a cruise that sameday. Came back today and I only have 3 nails fully intact. I guess you get what you paid for, $ 25 gel nails are too good to be true. Instead of 14 days I barely got 4! My friends were shocked and I was super annoyed the entire time. Never coming here again. Going to invest the extra $ 10 and get quality Shellac somewhere else.

I’ve been going to Jeanie’s for about two years now — mainly because of the location and the prices are way cheap… like L.A. cheap. But the service is not always the best, depending on which nail technician you go to. I’ve been through 3 of them and their service and professionalism is sub-par. You’re good with them as long as you don’t make any special request or have any say or opinion with how you want your manicure or pedicure. I, for one, like a «perfect polish». And the three nail techs I’ve gone through don’t possess such skills. The last technician told me I was… «too picky and that I should do my own nails». It took everything I had to keep my cool. I mean, who speaks to customers like that? Luckily, the manager over heard what she said and was very apologetic. Not only did she do my nails, but she did a great job! And out of all the nail techs in the salon, she has the best and most professional attitude. I normally go to Renew Med Spa or Nordstroms Spa(both in Northpark Mall) when I can get an appointment. But when I’m in a hurry and I need a quick fix, I go to Jeanie, who is the actual manager of the salon. Just make sure you ask for her specifically if or when you go.

A friend and I were lured by the low priced mani/pedi about a week ago. I went French, so ended up paying the same for my pedicure as at other places($ 25). The woman who did my friend’s manicure cut her cuticles so close four fingers were bleeding by the time it was done — even after asking not to cut so deep. Likewise, the woman doing my pedi cut my cuticles too close. No blood for me, fortunately, but that’s the first time I’ve ever had the rest of a pedicure sting after that point. And she trimmed the edges of my toenails on my big toes in a way that now has me battling a wannabe ingrown toenail on one. On top of that, the white on my French pedicure was uneven width across toes. I tried to get that corrected but gave up. Maybe we just went on a bad day, but I won’t be back to find out. Typical of the area, parking was also a challenge.

So I’ve never gotten my nails done here, but I did stop in for an eyebrow emergency. As in, I took a look in my rear view mirror while out and about after yoga(sans makeup, to make things worse) and realized to my horror that my eyebrows looked like two dead caterpillars on my face. I scanned quickly for the nearest place to kill the insects slowly taking over my head. Now, I’m a die-hard waxer when it comes to lady-parts and I have a standing monthly appointment to keep the fuzz in check. But eyebrows aren’t something I ever think about, so I’m constantly getting them done last-minute, and only when they get totally out of control. But, let me tell you, this lady(I asked for her name but I cannot for the life of me remember it) gave me the best, fastest $ 10 brow wax EVER. And I’ve had some bad brow waxes – especially at nail salons. I was super nervous when I figured out she wasn’t using hard wax, but she schooled me. For sure. My brows look great, and I’ll be back. Although I already have my go-to nail place, this place has got my brow business.

I have been to this place twice and both times they cut my cuticles so far back that I started bleeding. The polish never seems to last more than one day. To make things worse, they totally butcher your nails(peeling them and thinning them out) which takes a LONG time to fix. The price is cheap, but so is the service… take your pic.

Quick Mani? …wanna skip that afternoon class and get a manicure and some pizza? As any gal will always take recommendations on fun and great places to get manicures, I was also introduced to this place by my best friend in college. We use to come here and get quick and simple manicures(No pizza, but Campisi’s is practically next door! Another fav. joint of mine) So, for $ 12, I still come here to get a basic manicure and choose my ‘Sweetheart’ color for some clean hands and clean nails! I’ve been serviced by several of the technicians there — all pretty good and they work very fast! My favorite girl, Nina left =(. My favorite part is always the full arm massage they give you – some places only do hands, but they do arms, AND this last time I got some ‘thumping’(literally) on my shoulders! Feels. So. Good You can be in and out in 30 min., pick up your take-out order of pizza from Campisi’s, and go back to class(if you really want)…if say you go to SMU. What a great day! Oh yea, guys, don’t be shy. You can come here too! I see plenty of them in here.(I know, we all know, that men like clean hands and nails too!)
