J.Crew Mercantile

I was excited when J. Crew Mercantile was announced because they presented it as a cheaper option to J.Crew. Which, I guess it is, but it is also exactly like J. Crew Factory which you can find in most outlet malls. They just named it something else to make it sound a little better, I guess. And the clothes are fine, they’re just not J. Crew quality, they’re a little lower. And, unless there’s an additional sale going on (which, granted, there’s usually an additional sale going on), the stuff really isn’t worth the price, in my opinion. Staff is fine but not great, location is fantastic since I come to this area regularly to hit up Nordstrom Rack and Homegoods. Location alone means I’ll return, but usually just to browse.

Good selection of clothes at good prices. Service by their employees is always outstanding. Friendly and helpful. We keep going back because it’s enjoyable to shop here.

I like to pop into J. Crew Mercantile once in a while after grabbing coffee at the Starbucks it’s adjacent to. Who can resist crazy discounted J. Crew stuff? Not me!
They have a great variety of stuff here, but most importantly (to me at least) they have a petite section just like regular J. Crew! I find that a lot of J. Crew clothes are designed for taller women but that means a trip to the tailor’s for me under normal circumstances. Their petite selection is pretty solid and all of my petite stuff from here fits perfectly.
I’m also a big fan of any place that offers consistently exceptional customer service. The staff at J. Crew Mercantile are excellent, super friendly, helpful, and AVAILABLE! I’ve never had to wait around forever looking for someone to help me find a size, reach an item out of my reach, etc. I bought a pair of slacks recently and upon wearing them for 3 hours realized they stretched a LOT and that I should have purchased a size down. Their return policy states that items must be unworn but when I brought the slacks into the store they made absolutely no issue about it. They initially offered to refund me and I had to explain that I loved these slacks and just wanted a pair that fit better! It was a happy and casual swap out and in less than 10 minutes I was out the door with the smaller size.
