Highlands Residential Mortgage – Plano West

Be very cautious about entering into a deal with Highlands Residential Mortgage. Potential buyers for our home had a pre-​approval letter from Kristen Walther, Sr Loan Officer, and it wasn’t until THE DAY BEFORE CLOSING that we found out their loan was not going to go through. She had apparently failed to run all the necessary reports and didn’t even bother to let us know there was a potential problem with the loan.

I had a very bad experience with Highlands Residential Mortgage. We closed loan on my investment property in OCT, 2015. Anthony worked on this loan from this company. They mislead me on several occasions. No professionalism and full of lies. He was so disinterested in my loan for some reason. May be because of loan amount is small ($ 228K). CB Jeni build recommended this lender and I went with this lender thinking process will go smooth. He took advantage of this situation .They never alerted me for any documents. I know mortgage process and involved in home buying before so started asking questions on documents required. The moment I ask question they come back and say we need this doc ASAP. I don’t understand why they didn’t ask for that doc in advance. He lied to me about my rate lock. He locked rate 20 days before the closing and I can change rate once. Rates went down on few occasions but he always said not enough low to adjust my rate. Finally one morning he agreed with me on lower rate. Within few minutes he emailed me saying we are too close to closing so we can’t make rate adjustment. I felt that was outright lie. Finally after closing they sold my loan to some other company. They showed no respect for customer. I was involved in 4 home buying and 7 mortgage closing. Never had this bad experience.
