Excessive billing practices! Avoid this urgent care clinic. I needed 2 saline drips after becoming dehydrated from a stomach bug. After paying my insurance co-​pay (the urgent care co-​pay), the bill came to nearly TWO THOUSAND dollars. We spent about a year successfully fighting some of the charges but that’s because my husband has experience working in the health insurance industry. Anyone without that type of knowledge may have just had to pay the entire outrageous and excessive bill.

Went in after getting face busted open from passing out. Great experience. The front desk lady, her name starts with a j I think, made me wait a really long time at the beginning, because she made me sign all of this stupid paperwork that could have waited till after my stitches. She was so hot, but her looks and somewhat skanky high heels barley made up for her cold and superficial personality. Dr. Patel on the other hand was an angel from the heavens. She stitched my chin and lip back up and i didn’t feel a thing. She has a very warm personality and she has these beautiful Indian eyes that could stop an army. I wish she could have just given me a prostate exam as well cause she is a total smoke.

Came to the Highland Park location for the follow up for the nail as Dr. Phelan was at the Highland Park location and couldn’t believe the ambience is the same as at Preston hollow. Perfectly clean, no hospital smell. Another stocked snack bar. Everyone was perfectly polite. Was taken to the back 2 minutes after I arrived. Dr. Phelan came in after about 5 minutes checked everything out, all was good. Couldn’t be happier, 5 star service that was fast.

This place is clean, speedy, and efficient. Do come here if you need emergency service.
However, they did promise a Starbucks gift card which I haven’t seen. So. I may update after I receive that, but until then, they’ll remain a 4.

Highland Park emergency is close by, which is important when you total a vehicle at 0730-​hrs on a Friday. The staff were courteous and helpful. There was practically no wait to get into the room.
Once in, there was a touch of wait, but not bad. I’ve been in a holding pattern at other ERs for **way** longer. If you have a guest accompanying you, there are complementary drinks and snacks.
Additionally, they sent me a thank you card in the mail with well-​wishes to get better soon, which is oddly thoughtful; and a notice explaining the billing process.
It is my sincere hope that I never check in here again, but if I were to: there are far worse ERs in which to be.

COMPLETE SCAM! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I went in because I was having bad abdominal pain and discomfort. Blood test, urine test, saline drip and 2 minutes of a doctors time later I’m told it’s probably a stomach virus but that’s inconclusive. Walked out no better than when I came in. Claim to my insurance is for 3,800.00 dollars and of course they didn’t tell me that amount when I left (because I would have blown a gasket). This is an outrageously high bill for services rendered. I will NEVER go here again.

This is the best ER I have ever been to! My mom and I came in on a Tuesday night at 8PM and no hassle parking and helped immediately by friendly front desk staff. Taken right back and the doctors and nurses on staff were extremely attentive, helpful and very patient. I had to come back for a check up a couple days later, and the doctor who initially helped me had stayed after his night shift and into the morning to wait and check up on me which I thought was above and beyond his duties!
I highly recommend this ER to anyone who wants extremely professional and friendly service. I had been to 2 different urgent care centers before we came to the ER and they were the first ones to correctly diagnose my symptoms and get me to feeling better.
PS — free snacks and TV’s with cable in every single room! Extremely nice facility. 5 stars for me!

Best emergency room experience ever. They were clear that they are not an urgent care center, but a stand-​alone ER.

As parents, we hope to avoid the Emergency Room whenever possible, but raising a rambunctious boy often means that ER visits are inevitable. Thanks to Highland Park ER, we don’t fear the late night hospital visit nearly as much as we once did. Highland Park Emergency Center is like the ER out of parenting dreams.
My son slipped on his bunk bed ladder and had a deep cut on the bridge of his nose. We knew he needed stitches and, unfortunately, so did he. He was very nervous about walking through those glass doors but the staff went out of their way to make him comfortable the second we arrived. Aside from the very kind receptionist, I don’t remember what the waiting room even looked like. We were immediately taken to a pediatric care room playfully adorned with my kiddo’s favorite characters.
The nurses were in our room within 5 minutes and could not have been more wonderful. They joked around with the kiddo and helped to assure him that he was in good hands. By the time they left, he was happily watching cartoons on the hospital bed while we waited for the doctor.
Within 10 minutes after arriving, Dr. Phelan was in the room introducing himself to the kiddo. If I could make this man our primary care doctor, we would in a heart beat. Heck, we loved him so much Erik already considers him a family friend. He made Erik feel completely comfortable and confident. He even came in, pulled everything out of his pockets, and announced that he didn’t have any needles on his person. Erik loved it!
The nurse and the doctor cleaned the wound without Erik even noticing. The doctor had pulled out his phone to play a cute video of his daughter singing in the car. Erik giggled the whole time and the nurse was able to clean and disinfect the wound without even one disapproving glance from my very opinionated five-​year-​old.
When it came time for the stitches, the doctor even let Erik hold the liquid stitch pen while he prepped the wound. The best part, the doctor gave us the rundown on how to care for the wound after we left but he also gave us his personal cell number so that we could text him pictures/​questions AFTER we left. He told us that if the liquid stitches opened or anything looked strange, we could come back anytime without charge and he would take care of it. They gave Erik a booklet about visiting the doctor and handed me a list of 24 hour pharmacies so that we could pick up his antibiotic.
From start to finish, this place absolutely impressed us. The facilities were absolutely beautiful. the staff was unbelievable in every way. The billing system was simple and took hardly any time. We were in and out in less than an hour with zero wait time. We left as a family feeling happy and well cared for by a staff of genuinely caring, committed people.

I came here with a knee injury to avoid the long ER wait at my local hospital. I arrived around 9:30am and there was no wait. The front desk staff saw me limping once I got out of the car and actually brought a wheelchair out to me! So nice! This is by far the cleanest and most up to date medical facility I have ever been in, it almost seemed more like a spa than an ER. There are snacks in the lobby for people waiting.
The nurse, doctor, and x-​ray techs were all compassionate and professional. It seemed like they knew right away after looking at my x-​rays that I needed to be transferred to a hospital, but they still took the time to clearly explain my injury and gave me pain medication and a knee stabilizing brace before I left.
One last thing, billing. Their website clearly states that they are an ER facility, NOT an urgent care clinic. Yes, this means that you’ll probably be billed more if you go here instead of urgent care. I personally think it’s worth it as this place is far superior to any urgent care clinic I’ve been to in terms of wait time and quality of care. Hopefully I don’t need to see a doctor again any time soon, but I’ll come here if I do.

Okay, so the feel inside the place looks like something out of a TV drama like CSI or something. My boss went in, they treated like it was a real ER. I was impressed by front of house (good beverages for me while I waited), and her treatment. I was shocked at the bill, however. Unilocalers read — it is and is billed as a REAL ER.

$ 500 medical bill for a 10 minute appointment after we called and asked if they took our insurance and they assured us it was a $ 50 copay, which we also paid on-​site. It is shameful and unlawful practices and you should avoid them at all costs!

Short version: You will be charged over $ 500 even if you have good insurance. Do not go here.
I though that any urgent care is about like any other urgent care: a $ 100 deductible since it’s classified as an ER visit, so that’s already a lot to swallow. But this place will hit you with a bill after the fact so get ready to pay out the nose. That’s with good insurance. I’ve never seen anything like this and I don’t understand how they’re still in business. Oh wait, yes I do, they’re making over $ 500 a pop for 7 minutes of work and writing a quick prescription. Classy.
Read the Unilocal reviews — there are plenty more like this one. Shady, unethical, wrong. Stay away unless you are physically unable to go to literally anywhere else and it’s a matter of life or death.

Go to a hospital or clinic — anywhere but here. If the care nightmare is not bad enough (lady drew blood and it literally squirted 2′ across the room and landed on my husband’s shirt — first time that’s ever happened), look out for the billing nightmare that will happen next. They put you through every kind of test because they are 1). «practicing medicine» and don’t know what they are doing OR 2). they want to bill, bill, bill. I put the kabash on the tests once hubs and I figured out the situation. Good thing — per hour, they are billing around $ 2500! Then, the next shoe drops — the bill arrives about a month later. OMG!!! Don’t even think about talking to their administrative staff about your bill. Dallas tells you to call someone in Houston. Houston tells you to call Dallas. Circle of misery!!!
Bad care, predatory billing, poorly trained medical and administrative staff. This is so bad that I questions whether the 5 star reviews aren’t employees or family members of employees.

I am a 51 year old man and showed up to their hospital having a heart attach. I just switched jobs, so I did not have my insurance card. They would not service me. I begged and they still said they were sorry. They let me get back into my car and drive. 2 hours later I was admitted into Medical City Hospital for having a heart attack. I did speak to the Director of Nursing and she said, «I am sorry sir we have no record of you being here». I told her to check her camera’s, I was there. I guess its easier to pretend I was never there than to talk to the staff. So they want to hide the fact they turn their backs to a man having a heart attack over money. What type of place would do that? Its all about the money. Sad.

I needed an ER… I have seen this place, I thought of it first. I am so glad I did, the best ER I have ever been to. I was treated with respect and seen promptly. The Doctor and staff are worth every penny. I hope I never need another ER, but if I do, it will be Highland Park ER.

I had to go to urgent care recently while traveling in Dallas. I was staying at the Omni and got sick, something I ate. I had to über over somewhere and this one was close by — so glad I went here! It was beautiful inside, felt like a living room and the doctors were amazing. Got fluids and feeling better in no time, and it was a very comfortable place to be, unlike the hospitals I have been in at home. My insurance worked here, I called to check.

What a joke. Ask receptionist if they treated my condition before I checked in. Without asking the medical staff she assured they did. No they didn’t.
Dr says she cannot tell me who has the treatment without me checking in as a patient. Told her fine I’ll go to St Pauls. Dr replies they don’t have it. I suggest Parkland. Dr replies the only way she can say is if I check in and she can transfer me. Plus I won’t have to wait after I drive there.
After I consent to check in Dr tells me forget what she just told me, I can’t drive, I have to be transferred in an ambulance.
30 minutes later still waiting on the ambulance.

So, as it turns out, I’m horribly allergic to the medicine my dermatologist gave me to prevent cold sores. I had no idea what was happening to me but my eyes were swelling shut, my lips were double their normal size, I had a rash all over my body and I was having problems swallowing (my airways were closing). I had to be rushed to HPEC not once but twice over the next few days so I feel well qualified to review them.
First of all, if while you fight for your life, it’s important to you to be in an aesthetically appealing environment, you’ll love this place. It’s clean, comfortable and has a very well stocked waiting room for your friends or family.
Once inside, I was tended to very quickly (that tends to happen when they’re having trouble maintaining your airway) and I got pretty much instant relief. Every person I encountered was polite, reassuring, helpful, and interested in making me better.
As I mentioned I had to go to the ER twice (it was a severe allergic reaction) and my 2^nd trip also resulted in much needed help and relief. On my 2^nd visit I had a little blond nurse that was so good and so kind she really helped me calm down and made sure I was taken care of.
Now to the price. Look: it’s got the name HIGHLAND PARK! I mean, do you know anything in HP that’s super affordable? Hell, do you know any ER that’s super affordable? I don’t. I felt like it was expensive but I got a value in return. In the interest of full disclosure, my bill was thousands of dollars and I did call the billing company, explained that I have a very high deductible healthcare plan and that 100% of the bill would be coming out of my own pocket. They worked with me on payments and made an arrangement on the total amount due given the fact i had to go twice in one week. I really appreciated what we were able to work out.
Long story short, I hope I NEVER have to go back to any ER but if I do, I wouldn’t hesitate to use this place — I really liked them.

Great service… BUT. Excessively expensive.
You will automatically be charged $ 1203 when you walk through to begin receiving care. That’s just the base. Every single thing they do will be charged to you at a cost much higher than other health care facilities. For example: $ 132 pregnancy test.
It doesn’t matter if you have insurance or not, that is how this facility works. It doesn’t matter if you only do one thing, you will still be charged $ 1203 no matter what.
Just be careful. But if you’ve got the money to spare, go, they have a great facility, I was treated very well and I was in a lot of pain but they made sure I was very comfortable, heated blankets, pain medicine, fluids, etc. They also have a lot of equipment on site, so I got a CT scan, sonogram, and several other tests right there despite it being 1 am. I happened to have severe pain with no apparent indication, and had to take many tests.
Call their office and work with them on your bill. Do not pay in full. They will negotiate a discount, payment plans, and talk with your insurance.
