My go-to place in Dallas. Consistently good quality.

I was excited about this place initially, when I first brought my son. Then I set up a second appointment for both kids and the boyfriend. Ryan cut both boys’ hair and Jin worked on the bf. The owner/lady at the front desk is nice enough. She speaks English well. Ryan — not so much and I don’t know about Jin since I didn’t speak with her. My older son has the classic thick Chinese hair that likes to stick out at whatever direction it wants. My younger son is blessed with my wavy locks. First time, I just told Ryan to clean it up and keep it short for older kid. He did a good job, used the clippers and scissors, and razor and styled it too. My son thinks he’s cool. At our second appointment, I wanted to give him an undercut. We’d done it before at home and it looked great, but Ryan disagreed that it would be flattering and insisted that his [my son] hair would stick up. I just gave in and told him to do his thing. This time just clippers and scissors, no razor and no styling(not a big deal). It looked clean and good, but his hair still stuck up. lol… Younger son’s hair is easy — we can go to Great Clips or use the clippers at home and it looks great. When we went to pay, the price had gone up per kid over my last visit… which was weird because we got less service. Bf’s haircut cost $ 30(he normally pays $ 20 out of pocket including tip) but I guess okay because they washed his hair. Jin was a perfectionist and did do a good job but bf needs haircuts every too weeks(he is a hairy guy). Also, I noticed that when an older Korean gentleman came in, not only did he get the greeting, he was also offered coffee — I didn’t even know they had free coffee! It’s ok, I helped myself(I wonder if this is why the haircuts cost more this time? We did also have some of the candy from the jar lol). Anyway, this place is aight… younger son and bf can stick with the cheap places, and I kind of wanna try Jin for my older son next time, but I’m not sure it that’s good service etiquette?

Well, you do get what you pay for. It was only $ 30. My favorite hair salon is all the way in Richardson and my excuse to not go there is because I moved. I’ll remind myself next time that it’s worth the drive and the price to get a good haircut. Everyone here didn’t really speak English. I made an appoinment, but came in about 2 hours early since I was already in the area and had time to kill… I should have just spent those 2 hours being productive because I wound up waiting for more than an hour before it was my turn — not their fault, though. I asked the guy to cut my hair about 2 inches… he cut about 3 – 4 inches. My heart stopped beating for a second, and he was really in the zone slicing off huge chunks off right away that it would be too late to say anything. Because of the fact that he hardly spoke English, I sort of gave up, and let him do whatever he wants to my hair — learned helplessness after my 5 minute encounter. When he combed my hair on the side, he kept coming my ear too, which hurt a lot. I tried to tell him not to do it, but then kept on. I literally had to lift my hair, point my finger to my ear and say«Ow!» with an expression to match my torture. I was hoping«Ow» was a universal language for pain, but apparently not. He kept coming my ear lobe. I won’t come here again, but everyone was nice. Maybe if I spoke Korean…

So glad I found this place. So heres a little back story from me. I moved here a year ago from LA, where I had the same girl cut my hair for the past 4 years. In fact when I went home for the holidays I let my hair grow out some more just to make sure I got my haircut again back there since I had problems with finding someone here in Dallas. Either no one listened, or they over cut it. And one time, she just did what she wanted. Now I’m all about hair mode. Found this place on Unilocal.Based on some Unilocal friends I have made, using their recommendations. I’ve been here 3x now. My go to is Jin. She’s pretty cute too, I might add. One time I got my hair coloured. I knew that it wasn’t going to come out the colour that I picked from their book, and Jin made sure that I understood that. The other times just straight up hair cuts. During my last visit all I said was, «a little shorter this time» and BAM it came out just the way I wanted it. For only going there less than a handful of times she seems to remember what I want. She also does quirky things when she’s cutting my hair. I find it very interesting. In a good way.

My chingu Grace told me to try out Hair Mode. and to make sure i ask for Ryan, apparently he has godlike skills with men’s hair It was pretty clear that Ryan was skilled with the clippers and shears… or it could have been the cool sound that the clippers made whenever he switched blade lengths. I let him choose what to do and he decided on a nice low fade on the side while trimming the top a little Although i wasn’t a fan of how he styled my hair afterwards(made me look like my big bro) he is extremely capable of cutting hair. My fellow bros, if you need to get your ears lowered and want a korean hairstyle, go to Hair Mode and ask for Ryan. Also, He only takes appointments only so call ahead in advance

I don’t know about the other 2 ladies but ask for Ryan. He’ll set you up. He’s very skilled and nice. $ 20 for men’s cut with wash included. The inside has been redesigned and is very nice. In not sure if they do walk ins but I’ve always made appointments. It’s in the Komart center

I got a good haircut from them. The lady who cut my hair was very skillful and conscientious. No complains. I would definitely go back for haircut.

Best $ 25 haircut I’ve ever had. Hong cut my hair. I’m Korean, and she really figured out my hair quickly. I just wish I didn’t live out of town so that I could go back again and again!

Ask for Jin. She’s so good with BOTH women’s and men’s hair. I know she had her training from Tony & Guy so she knows what she’s doing. I recently got my hair colored Ombré and it came out great along with getting some layers put it. Love my hair. Oh and my husband gets his haircut from Ryan. He’s AWESOME at men’s hair. ALSO they’re so cheap and affordable! :D

I love this place! Ryan cuts my hair. I am very picky and he has never messed up. The prices are great as well… usually for the type of quality I’m getting here it would easily cost me double or triple. He is also awesome at cutting korean guys. I would recommend this place to anyone without reservation!

I’m white, and have short hair. In my experience, most Asian women don’t have short hair or the texture of white hair. So this might be what influenced my experience here. When I walked in, place was deserted. The staff was not nice. Not even a greeting. Just told me to «SIT». They have little to no comprehension of English. I understand this, but NONE of them spoke it. Not even a little. The lady doing my hair had to call someone and have her talk to me over the PHONE. Not to mention, NONE of them have their cosmetology licenses. Want your hair dyed or cut professionally? Won’t happen here. I got my hair dyed, but it was exactly the same color afterwards, with just my roots LIGHTENED. 60 dollars down the drain. She BLEACHED my blonde roots, and applied dark dye to the rest of my hair. The cut was okay, but she cut too much off. Girls, stay away, PLEASE.

Tried Yuki for cut and highlights. The highlights are great. I normally got to an Aveda salon off of Preston and Forest. Yuki’s are much better than Aveda and also about 1⁄3 the price. The cut is ok. Its not growing out very well. I’ll probably end up going back to Aveda for my cuts and do my color with Yuki.

Just moved to Dallas from Atlanta and I’m so happy to finally found someone that can cut my coarse, fizzy, and wavy hair. I’d been to Yuki twice now and so far I’d been pretty happy with the job that she has done. They also have some really good products for sale too. Can’t wait to try their mud mask!

Dallas, oh Dallas… Oh how I miss thee and thy cheap haircuts. Hair Mode is a Korean-owned and staffed salon neatly tucked in a strip mall that houses Ko-mart, a Korean grocery store. The stylist I was assigned to was named Sharon(if I remember correctly). She spoke a little English, but the receptionist was handy to translate. After a refreshing shampoo treatment, I showed Sharon a picture of the cut I wanted. Amazingly, she pulled it off even if we had a little language snag in between. She was very friendly and really knew what she was doing. She also seems to have an insight on what the client expects to see in the mirror. For $ 25, I got an edgy haircut and picked up a few Korean words along the way. :) I wish I were still in Dallas. Hair Mode, you will always be remembered!
