History

Established in 1968.

First Floors — Carpet One is owned and operated by Richard Dobson, founded by Bob Dobson in 1968. Richard is a 3^rd generation flooring mechanic and a second generation business owner. Our company has a vast experience in all floor covering.

I’ve never not been in the business. My Grandfather taught my Father and my 3 Uncles how to install flooring. I started working with my Uncles in the summers when I was 14. I worked my way up from cleaning toilets, taking out the trash and sweeping floors before I was allowed to work in the store (my father would not have allowed it, any other way) I have been the warehouse manager, the installation manager. I worked accounts payable & receivables and collection. I have been in charge of a buying group we formed that became the sixth largest buying group in America. I have opened satellite stores, and been the sales manager and the general manager. etc.etc.

Specialties: Member of Carpet One’s National Advisory Council, Member of the National Wood Flooring Asso. Certified: Armstrong Flooring installer, a Magnus Anderson Master Craftsman.
