Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Gonzalez J.

Business Owner

Hoa Nguyen, O.D. received her bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and her doctorate degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2006. Dr. Nguyen is currently licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and board certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.

Jaime Gonzalez, O.D. earned his Doctorate in Optometry in 2006, graduating from the University of Houston College of Optometry. He was awarded The Clinical Excellence Award in Family Practice while pursuing his doctorate degree. Dr. Gonzalez is licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and board certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.

Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Gonzalez enjoy using the latest technology to diagnose eye diseases and keep up with the newest eye treatments for their patients.

In their spare time, Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Gonzalez enjoy bowling, rock climbing, traveling, attending sporting events, and finding new hole in the wall restaurants, and trying out different types of cuisine.

I love everything about this office! The staff are friendly and the doctor is the most knowledgeable I’ve ever witnessed. I’ve gone twice now for my annual checkup and each time I had an eye issue and didn’t mention it, but the doctor asked if I was experiencing certain issues with my eyes which I in fact was. Then I began to tell the doctor about the irritation that I was experiencing. Dr. Gonzalez is the man!
Another thing I love about this office is, they take their staff out of the country annual and shut down for a week. I think this is awesome. I think I need a job here!!!

The practice in uptown needs a MAJOR mood uplift. I visited the uptown location this afternoon, and everyone there seemed like they are pressured into working. Boring sad faces. Customer service below par. They need the blue pill and be have a mood lift or face lift, some kinda lift. Better service at your major chains like Lenscrafters, Visionworks, etc. I don’t know maybe the lighting is dim or perhaps I really do need new glasses, BUT trust me, you’ll feel the same way.
When my son reached for those mints that cost like $ 1 for 1000, the greeter lady at the front asked him to ONLY take 1. I actually LOL’d at that since my son did not attempt nor intent to grab more than 1. I always tell folks, if you really don’t like your job there are other places that you might want to try your luck with. Boring boring place.
Tom, the optician, was the only person that’s semi-​decent and helped out.
I think the Plano location is a bit better in terms of customer service and uplifted mood.

I’ve been purchasing glasses at Eye Pieces for well over 12 years. During that time I’ve lived in Dallas, New York City, and San Antonio.
Just going so long and from such a long distance should let you know that I’m impressed, but I’ll say a little bit about why.
First, the lenses. My prescription is complex. I’m so nearsighted that my focus point is about an inch past my nose. And I’m far sighted. And I have astigmatism. Other places that I’ve gone to have almost always had to remake lenses. They’ve been right every single time at Eye Pieces, and that’s been many times.
Second, the frame selection. Man or woman, you’ll find a delightful selection of frames here. You can browse or they will recommend for you. The frames aren’t inexpensive, but they’re high quality and close to unique. You’re not likely to see someone else wearing the exact same frames. I’ve gotten multiple compliments on every pair of glasses I’ve bought here. And I usually have a couple of pairs each year, at least.
And third, the service. Tom is amazing, as are other employees. For me, he encourages me to try shapes and colors that I might not have looked at on my own, but with no pressure at all to like them, much less to buy them. He’s willing to spend time with you (I often visit two or three times before I decide on a pair) to be sure that you’ll be happy. Best yet, he’ll let you know when something you like doesn’t fit well or might not be the right choice for you. And he’ll do that with tact and charm, which isn’t easy, but is invaluable.

There is no other eye clinic in the area of Turtle Creek that has the friendliness or customer service as Eye Pieces. Jill at the front desk always has a smile and everyone there is ready to help! The doctors are thorough and friendly as well, showing concern for their patients eye health. I highly recommend them!

I was desperate to find a new optometrist as my 40+ year old eye sight is deteriorating fast! I was referred to Dr Nguyen and knew on my first visit that I had finally found the perfect fit. I felt very taken care of by Dr Nguyen. She was quite thorough during the eye exam, performed many tests and explained everything in great detail. She was so patient with me in trying more than 7 combinations of contact lenses to find just the right strength and fit. I also had the opportunity to meet with Dr Gonzales while Dr Nguyen was on maternity leave. He was very kind and I would recommend him as well. In addition, the staff is quite knowledgeable too; helping me practice inserting the contact lenses and suggesting the perfect frames for my small face. Tom is the eyeglass guru! He has a knack for choosing the perfect frames to compliment your complexion and face shape! Eye Pieces always carries the latest style and current trends in eyewear! If you need an eye doctor or new glasses– look no further!

I needed a new Optometrist as I have relocated from HEB area and did not want to drive that far for an appointment. I Unilocaled! the competition of course and found Eye Pieces to have the best overall reviews and Tom (the frames GOD) was intriguing to me.
I arrived and had forgotten to do the paper work online so I was going to request it from the front desk but she seemed very busy and told me to take a seat. I was taken to a side area of the front for the eye pressure test and a machine that evidently can estimate your prescription. I was helped by a man named Willis through these tests and then asked to take a seat again. The doctor then came out of her previous appointment and I was invited into the exam room. Dr. Nguyen is so sweet and friendly! She did a few tests — even some new ones I had never had done before. She offered a new lens technology that would suit my needs and explained my prescription in detail.
I was then was brought back into the waiting area by all of the frames and sat down with Tom. As mentioned in the previous reviews, he is amazing at what he does. He can quickly analyze your face shape and knows which frames will compliment you based on your skin tone, size of your face, distance between your eyes, etc. He immediately found me (2) frames that looked great but I was so scared of change that I did not think I liked them at first. We kept looking but every time I would come back to the first two he picked out. They were trendy, fun, sexy and something different! I felt like a cute 50’s secretary haha! I was convinced once I tried on those particular frames — not kidding — 17 times.
Purchase was easy — not exactly pain free as the prices are a bit steep for my liking but they do have a lot of very high end brands. Love this place! Oh and they fixed my old glasses for free!

I had been wearing glasses for two years but could not see clearly and had been experiencing a lot of eye strain when I first saw Dr. Gonzalez at his last office in Arlington. In one exam, not only did he correct my bad prescription, he took the time to explain my vision problems and how they could be corrected. When he moved to Eye Pieces Dallas, I was willing to make the long drive to continue seeing such a helpful doctor.
Most recently, I went in for an exam to get new eyeglasses and saw Dr. Nguyen. My experience with her was as wonderful as my experience with Dr. Gonzalez. She was very welcoming and made me feel comfortable instantly. She updated my prescription and answered all of my questions before I even had a chance to ask them.
Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Gonzalez are an amazing team, but they might not even be the best part. The secret weapon of Eye Pieces is Tom, who will be referred to as «Magic Genius Tom» from here on out. Normally, I hate choosing new frames because I can never find any that I really love and I end up settling on a mediocre pair of glasses.
After my exam, Magic Genius Tom looked at my face for about three seconds, walked away and came back with five frames that all looked amazing. The frames I selected were ready after only two days and they’re the best quality eyeglasses I’ve ever had. The lenses are clear and sharp and the fit is perfect. I highly recommend Eye Pieces Dallas to anyone seeking high quality eye care.

I was a patient of Eye Pieces but I have not had a good experince the last two visits so I decieded to go to the office located across the streets. I buy new glasses every year when my insurance renews. I usually end up spending up to $ 500 or more out of my pocket since I tend to go for the higher-​end frams. This office has a good selection of designer frames but when it comes to using my insurance, it becomes a nightmare. They state I can only purchase frames from a predetermined selection that is stored in a box that is pulled out of the closest. They state these special frames are the only ones allowed based on my insurance. I have verified twice with my insurance that any frames can be purchased from an in-​network provider (which I have checked several times that they are) and any amount over my allowance would come out of my own pocket… which I understand and will pay. For some reason, this is the ONLY eyewear location in Dallas that seems to have this restriction. I would not recommend this location if you plan on using some kind of employee insurance plan because it all-​of-​the-​sudden becomes a nightmare.

I had an awesome experience with Eye Pieces! I went in last week just to scout out a new optical shop since moving from Las Colinas and the staff was very helpful and non-​badgering, they allowed me to look without pressure. After checking out a few places I settled on E.P. and went in today for my appointment. Dr. Gonzalez and the rest of the staff were extremely thorough, informative, and friendly!!! My prescription was more precise than ever, Dr. Gonzalez suggested a great brand of contacts and I got hott new frames!

I didn’t get my eye exam here, so I can’t comment on that. I did come here, though, because they had Chanel frames that I’ve been wanting. The associate (I can’t remember his name) was very helpful in helping me find the pair I wanted! Outside of Chanel, they have a wide variety of name brands and selections of eyeglasses. My husband was impressed with them, so he ended up making an appointment for his eye exam and to get his glasses here as well.
The place is really nice and clean on the inside, and you can tell they really care about the appearances of the place here.

I’ve been going here for the past three years. I really like Dr Nguyen. She informative and quick.
Glasses and contacts can be expensive but the front desk usually tries to find you the best deal. They even gave me a rebate coupon for $ 50.
Sometimes they don’t want to release your contact prescription but the will give it to you if you insist.

I haven’t gotten new glasses in over a decade so I decided that it was finally time. The problem is I have a small face so always have a very hard time finding frames that fit right. I visited 3 other stores without any luck before coming to Eye Pieces.
Tom, one of the staff at Eye Pieces, was quick to offer his assistance in finding me some frames. Although they have over 800 frames, I still could not find any frames to my liking that fit. I let Dr. Gonzales know about my dilemma and he offered to have a frame rep come in to bring additional frames for me to try. Talk about service!
So I came back in the next week and Dr. Gonzales was there to greet me with the frame rep. They provided great feedback and opinions about the various frames and with their help, I was able to find some very fashionable acrylic frames in an über cool matte tortoise color that worked with my face. I ordered some 1.74 high index lenses and Crizal antiglare coating to finish and can’t wait to get them back!
Pros:
— All the staff I worked with were helpful and I didn’t have to wait around to get assistance like I did at other places.
— Both Dr. Gonzales and Dr. Nguyen were professional and super friendly.
— Large selection of the latest designer frames. You can even get exotic frame materials like layered wood and buffalo horn.
— Accepts VSP insurance.
— Lots of shopping and food in West Village so there is plenty to do before/​after you visit. Village Burger Bar is next door and they have sweet potato fries!

Got my new glasses and contact prescription here. Seriously, Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Gonzales are amazing– they really take the time to explain everything and I truly feel they care about my eyecare. I had an eye condition this summer-​dry eyes and inflammation so had to visit Dr. Nguyen a couple times. She’s so friendly, knowledgeable, and professional-​wish all doctors were just like her.
