Dick’s Last Resort is FUN FOR ALL AND ALL IN FUN FOR THOSE WHO DARE TO ENTER. Sit back and watch, or join in the fun. Dick’s has always been known for its outrageous, surly, energetic waitstaff who inflict humor upon guests. Serving up Buckets o’ Good Grub… ribs, shrimp, crab legs, chicken, burgers. Dick’s claims home to a sweet spot just outside the West End district at the gateway of Victory Park. Just a napkin’s throw away from American Airlines Center, we’re the rowdy joint where the fans come before and after all the games. Bad traditions gotta start somewhere, right? Too cheap to buy a ticket? Dick’s 150″ TV screen gives you a better view than side line seats. Come see why Dick’s has been a legend in Dallas since the madness began 25 years ago. «This is the joint your mamma warned you about» So consider yourself warned.
History
Established in 1985.
Yes, there really was a Dick and his spirit rages on to inspire us to this day. Dick was a film producer whose claim to fame was making the movie «Hell’s Angels Forever.» He breezed into Dallas to open a white tablecloth restaurant. There was a heap of trouble when the building’s key support wall collapsed. A shocked Dick felt desperate, for he hadn’t budgeted for construction delays. In fact, he already had eight people on the payroll, ready to open the new restaurant.
Dick wasn’t known as Slick Dick for nothing. He took advantage of a deal offered by a local realtor, leasing a 4,000 square foot storefront in the West End. Then, he opened a restaurant/bar to generate some cash while construction proceeded at the other site. Despite his financial bind, Dick’s sense of humor rallied to the occasion. He named the new bar «Dick’s Last Resort» because indeed, it was. And the rest, as they say, is history!
