Denny Doran and Bubba exhibition at the Davis Foundry Gallery A hybrid of Rat Fink and the Op Art movement Bubba’s work tickles the optical nerve. Simply presented on mat boards the exhibit compliments the otherwise obsessive pen and ink drawings. This is Bubba’s first exhibition. Denny Doran’s work in this exhibit can be taken to represent several different aspects. Some appear to express man’s hold on nature, which is tenuous at best, representations of darkness and possibly substance abuse as well as totemic, strangely primitive symbolism. Three of the pieces have moon-like goddesses looking down with outstretched hands carrying symbols of death. Between Rat Fink Op Art, and meditations of darkness the works in this show have a dichotomy yet the disparate works achieve a tense unity.
