Koreans love to have a good time. Well, Koreans love to have a good time at Dan Sung Sa. I’ve personally never ordered drinks here but I see people drinking here. The atmosphere is lively over the weekends but the food is great all week long. We frequent this place for its kimchi soup with ramen for late night satisfaction. The super spicy chicken (really super spicy and the staff will give you a fair warning) and BBQ beef are good as well.

The warm wooden grid that creates a walkway plank to semi private booths creates a cool Korean village meets urban street feel with walls scribbled in graffittis and covered in posters of Korean pop culture.
It’s truly a perfect drinkers den, a little punk rock, a little cozy neighbourhood tavern.
A large picture menu with foods ranging from snacky seafood omelettes to big entrees in a price range from $ 2 for a rice and egg to $ 28 for beef dishes was a little overwhelming, along with a similiarly lengthy drink menu with offerings from $ 7 sake to blue sugary cocktails you might expect from a bad cheesey tourist trap.
We settled on an udon seafood dish and a sweet and sour chicken plate for around $ 15 each with a bottle of Soju, a sort of Korean sake meets ever clear malt liquor drink that my friends dismissed as tasting like ever clear. The clear ethanol taste was unpleasantly medicine cabinet tasting and I was thus left to the bottle for myself, as my friends dismissed it as undrinkable.
The food had a similar cheap quality to it with oversauced breaded chicken that came with a mayo heavy Cole slaw, and a large plate of udon with low quality heads and tails on shrimp and average mussels.
I barely fought my way through the food, and even tho the red button on the wall to call a server was gimmicky cute, we were uninspired to order more.
Dan sung sa offers a fun hang out but the offerings left little to be desired, including the drinks, to make me consider a quick return.

Great for late night dining. Especially if you’re just stumbling your way out of the bars/​clubs. Definitely get their fried chicken and shrimp eggrolls looking things. Kalbi and bulgogi are pretty standard. Try out all the soju flavors. The ambiance goes from pretty chill to ruckus (depending on the night you go) and kpop is always playing nonstop in the background. Crowd is mostly asians, typically koreans (obviously).

Came here with a group of friends on a Thursday night for some soju specials. The soju is half-​off on that day which came out to be a pretty good deal. One soju bottle was about 8 shots. They have four different flavours for the soju (e.g. pineapple, yogurt) so I am sure you can find something you like. My favorite was the pineapple one since you can barely taste the alcohol.
They have other specials other nights so I recommend you to look that up before going. Cute little place!

What I love about this place is that its open late at night!
Came here in a Monday night after our flight. It was Monday so not many people were there. Seated right away, menu’s have some pictures so that was helpful! Each table has a doorbell to notify staff when we were ready to order!
We ordered 2 different soups, dry squid, bugolgi, wings. Squid was a little rough, bugolgi never disappoints. I forgot to try the wings but everyone who ate it loved it!
Def will come back here!

Fantastic place to get Korean and the food comes out in large portions so come with friends! They have a large list of food and drinks and the service is always friendly. If you can’t decide on what to get I recommend the spicy Korean chicken and some soju. Shoutout to Jae Min, he’s always there when I come over and makes sure my friends and I feel taken care of.

Jaemin/​K is amazing he provides excellent service and extremely nice. Yogurt soju is amazing! And Wednesday they have all you can drink! I love this place and absolutely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Korean music and drinking! A++

This place brings me back to drinking lemon suju in Seoul Korea. Totally drinking style restaurant. Love the boiled pork. Sorry can’t remember Korean translation. Between three adults, we could not eat it all. My only complaint is that they got stingy with the lemon suju. On second and third visit, it was about half the amount. We complained. So we didn’t go back. The thing is, you can get better food cheaper, but the emphasis with this type of establishment is drinking with friends. Its fun. They have Korean pop video’s going. The business model should be cheaper liquor and make up the difference with the food you sell. They do this all over Korea. I do understand that the cost of Korean liquors go way up on imports. Not at what they charged.
Did see a famous Korean baseball player for the Texas Rangers. He was kind enough to sign personal photos. Won’t give away his name. May go back and give it another try.

Great place to go to and have a few drinks with your friends! Their drink menu is extensive and reasonably priced! I like coming here after having dinner in one of the korean restaurants in the area (their food is kinda meh).
Main reason i come here is for the soju! They have regular soju and flavored soju… my favorite is the pineapple flavor! It’s soooo good!
Come check this place out! And the best part is they’re open late! (Until 2am).

Worst. service. ever. The hostess/​waitress didn’t bother come by or say bye to us when we left. Never plan on coming here as service sucks and I hope management does something about better customer service in the future

Been coming here for years, mostly before pre-​gaming to go out since it’s near (ish) to downtown. Really good bar atmosphere with good food and drinks. They’ve remodeled different things and added an expansion within the past few years so it’s looking a lot nicer and more open than when I first started coming here.
I think one of the things DSS is known for are the tins with rice, kimchi, and egg. It’s usually something I always get however, when we got it last time, our egg was green so that was pretty unappetizing. Their kimchi is always spot on though. I also really enjoy their padak (fried chicken) and their jokbal (pork trotters), but really you can’t go wrong with most of the stuff on the menu.
If you’re looking for good late night Korean food, I’d give this place a try!

This is a cool place for a late-​night hangout, especially on weekdays. Big food menu. They were out of a lot of beers but had plenty of soju options and 1 – 2 choices of many various liquors.
The service was great, as expected of a Korean joint. We had a big group but the server was great about bringing lots of napkins, cups, etc.
We ordered the rice cakes (tuckpocky is how they spell it on the menu); it was a good drinking snack and serving size for a big group of 5 – 10.
Cool date place as well. I’d hang out here again.

This was my first time trying this place and my overall experience was great. Once we walked in we were greeted & given a table instantly, they were pretty busy as well. We started off with ordering a bottle of Yogurt Soju & Kimchi French Fries which were the bomb! For our entrees we got Fried Chicken w/​BBQ Sauce (Korean Style maybe?) & Super Spicy Chicken which were really huge portions! The fried chicken w/​BBQ sauce was very crispy and flavorful (could feed at least 4 people). Now the super spicy chicken, if you’re a spicy lover this entrée is for you, I took one bite and my mouth was on fire! The service was on point for how busy our server was he did an amazing job tending to us. It’s a little bit on the pricey side but once you see how big their portions are its actually worth it, I recommend bringing a group of friends to share all the delicious food with!

DSS is what we call it. And it’s where we go for our late night grub and to hear the latest K-​pop. Pair the food with soju & yogurt. Makkolli if you can hang. My Korean friend tells me it helps if the food is too spicy. Service is very friendly too. The food gets a meh from me, but it’s cheap and you get a lot. Just stare at some photos I’ve posted. Better to go with a group.
Just remember, youngest of the group is supposed to pour the drinks. Oldest pays. Otherwise, you’re breaking tradition.

Late night Korean food? Yesssss. This is a Korean pub open til 2:00am, and is one of my new go-​to places to just chill, eat, and drink with friends. The surrounding area is pretty sketchy, but all the servers are really friendly and nice.
This is the place to go if you’re craving some serious comfort food. I’ve tried the kimchi fried rice, tteokbokki, kimchi fries, seafood pancake, and rice boxes. The seafood pancake was by far my favorite! I also really like that you can get a single serving of rice + fried egg + kimchi for $ 2! That could pretty easily be a meal for me if I weren’t super hungry. My favorite drink to get is the yogurt soju, which I think is meant to be shared.
I’m sure I’ll be back at DSS soon!

During my lifetime of debauchery, there are two drinks that stand alone, above the muck and mire that are the usual cocktails and well drinks.
One of them was called «Gangrene». It was blue, and tasted similar to Long Island Ice Tea. Back in college, it used to fuck us up. This drink has a legendary status in my mind. I have yet to come across another cocktail that comes close to triggering the same frenzied taste-​bud orgy that my old favorite blue cocktail caused.
Then I went to DanSungSa and ordered an Adiós Mother Father.
The reason I had to explain the love I have for my old favorite cocktail is so that I could properly convey the emotion I feel when I say that Adiós Mother Father is better. That’s right. Adiós Mother Father is better than the legendary libation of my mind. It’s sour, blue, and strong. It tastes like bacchanalia in a glass.
DanSungSa is the coolest fucking bar I’ve been to in Dallas. The exterior looks a bit sketchy at night, with it’s old pay phone booth and dimly lit parking lot. The interior has graffiti everywhere and each booth has a red buttons to ring for service. It’s a dive bar aficionado’s dream come true.

Oh man the food here is not good at all. The food was heavily seasoned with a bunch of sauces that don’t seem to enhance the food at all. But hey, this is what I get for going to a private club for dinner.
As for the service, they have buttons for you to push to request a server. We thought that was cool and we felt bad after 5 push. Also if you’re drinking, make sure you’re okay with them storing your information in their system for a year. We gave them our DL without asking and the guy came back with some paper asking us to sign up to be their membership. (Apparently they filled for the wrong liquor permit and now have to do this). Anywho, it seems weird so our group opted out.
The restaurant/​private club is what you would expected in Korean town. Kinda laid back yet stretchy. Waiters were nice and honest about what to not order here. Make sure you ask about the portion side before ordering. Someone in our group ordered a dish that can feed 5 people.

A friend who lives in Dallas recommended this place, since we were visiting for the weekend. Walking in, you notice that this place is great for group hangouts. In addition, they play current trendy kpop songs with the music video playing on the tv screen.
The exterior gave off a hole in the wall bar. The interior of this establishment was dimly lit and the writings on the wall kept me entertained throughout the night. Lots of random drawings and writings.
We ordered:
Apple soju (⁴⁄₅): The soju comes in a container half full but it’s enough for two people. The soju was mixed with soda (?) It was smooth, sweet, and slightly carbonated. It was my first time drinking carbonated flavored soju. Honestly, you can never go wrong with flavored soju. This flavor and the yogurt one was their popular one.
Kimchi Tofu (⁵⁄₅): If you like kimchi, stir fried pork, and tofu then you will enjoy this. This dish had a kick of spice and nicely seasoned! It’s very filling and enough for 2 – 3 people!
Naengbi Udon (⁴⁄₅): The broth was really good but a little salty. The noodle were so slippery and a little hard to eat without making a mess. I felt like a kid eating this because of the mess I was making.
*The food/​drink menu prices are reasonable and I have to say the drink menu had a lot to offer! I was impressed with the drink menu!
As for service, I have to say we received everything in a timely manner. This place does get packed over the weekend, so I can see service being slow from other Unilocalers view. They check IDs and put it into their computer without explaining the reason. Then they have you sign a piece of paper saying we gave them permission. My friend and I thought that was different because we never had to do this at other places.
Overall, this is a nice place to chill with friends and drink. I would recommend this place to family and friends!

So the staff is very inattentive if you aren’t Korean, in my opinion.
The bar staff was great though, super nice and fast.
We ordered different food and drinks here. I’d honestly recommend coming her to drink more than I would to eat. Food is expensive and overrated in my opinion. If I wanted korean, I wouldn’t go here. I usually just order the rice box with egg and kimchi for $ 2.
I usually get yogurt soju or apple soju. Or w. e the drink special is.

Awesome experience tonight with my group of friends. Great laid back atmosphere. Food was decently priced and they give huge portions. My favorite was the rice cake wrapped in bacon. It was almost like eating a cheeto with bacon. Kimchi pancake is very good too. Korean fried chicken is the best, you can’t go wrong with it. The waiter suggested we try the flavored soju and thank goodness because we ALL loved to yogurt soju. It was amazing to say the least. I would highly recommend this place for groups.
Cons I have:
I wish the plates weren’t so small. It was hard for everyone to eat on cake serving size plates. Also, I would have liked to be served rice with my Bulgogi and pork with squid. It would’ve really completed the meal.
Anyway, I still had a great time and will return. It’s a very hipster scene.
