I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed The Rose yet. I totally understand people’s initial reactions to the place, though I never felt that way myself. Probably because I was there my first time with a regular. Been one for years now. It’s a dark nonsensically decorated bar mostly inhabited by a regular crowd of people much older than myself. The drinks are cheap & strong, the jukebox is good, and there have been occasions I’ve had enough of said drinks to participate in karaōke. It’s very much a «Cheers» vibe earlier in the day, some more rambunctious behavior late nights during karaōke. It’s never especially crowded & the regulars can be friendly to strangers on occasion. The food isn’t anything special, but go grab some Sushi Yama next door and bring that over.

We went here for a friend’s birthday party and while a few of our more alcoholic friends went and immediately got smashed and enjoyed the place I wasn’t impressed by the drinks or the décor. It’s really just dingy and old, and didn’t remind me much of the bars/pubs I went to in England two years back. Honestly, it’s like they slapped up a British flag and ebayed a bunch of England-themed items, nailed them to the wall and said«Hey! Our gimmick will be that we’re British». Except, honestly, I know that it’s normal to have some weird, drunk regulars at most bars but that’s ALL this bar was and they definitely weren’t British. Most of us felt like we were outsiders and not welcome, and most of the clientele is old and and like many of the other reviewers said, they’re just trashy. Karaōke was as miserable as people have said and honestly, I’m glad I’ll never go back. It doesn’t deserve one star because it’s not like I found a finger in my beer, but it’s just not my style. If you’re looking for a weird, closet type bar to hide out in this would be a good place for you to listen to bad karaōke and get stared at by regulars until they assimilate you.

British Rose is a shit hole… but an awesome shit hole! WT everywhere(including me), stiff drinks, and OK bar food. There was a stripper there trying on different lingerie and handing out raffle tix. Not sure whatbthe raffle was for, but the prizes had to be awesome. If you like dive bars, this is the place. If you’re lame, stick to the Ghost Bar.

The British Rose is always a good time when I go! I love the atmosphere, very laid back and relax and on most nights pretty good karaōke crowd. The regulars help you feel like part of the family and the wait staff as super cool and friendly. Great prices, good drinks and the music is always rocking

The first time I went to British Rose was for a birthday party. I had no idea what I would be in for. My friends are regulars there and knew the wait staff by their names. That’s one way to get great service. They always get tables at the entrance next to the karaōke booth… oh yes, they are karaōke fans! After the first time, I thought going back would be okay and it was. It’s always been kind of like stepping into a time warp; nothing ever changes. The prices are the same as they were a couple years ago, the white russians still kick ass and make me want to sing karaōke against my better judgment, and the layout and furniture are exactly the same. If you go there during the day, it has a very«Cheers» vibe.

Although I do kind of agree with some of the statements from the previous reviewers, I still think The British Rose is worth checking out, if you happen to be in the neighborhood. The first time I came here, I didn’t have any expectations whatsoever, so that might be why I like this bar. I just knew of it as The British Rose, and it was in a shopping center area off Forest Lane. I met up with some friends one night, and had a good time. I’ve been back a handful of times since, and have usually enjoyed myself. A lot of the patrons are an older crowd. Some nights there may be about 20 people in the entire bar, but that doesn’t stop the karaōke on Friday nights from happening. No sir! Overall I think if you leave your expectations at the door, you won’t hate this place. It’s not really a pub, there really isn’t anything British about it. It more fits in with being a divey Dallas bar.

I’ve been here a couple of times for karaōke, mostly for a change of pace, and each time I go I’m reminded of why I’m not a regular. The patrons aren’t too much fun… kind of the older trashier crowd. The KJ isn’t bad, but a little too cheesy radio guy for my taste. The song selection is actually pretty good, but the service is terrible. If you can brush the mothballs away and actually find a seat, good luck getting service. The prices are also a bit high for this part of town. If you’re looking for a British pub, go to The Londoner. If you’re looking for karaōke, go to The Outer Marker. Basically, there’s no reason to go here.

First of all, there is little to nothing British about this«pub». The waitress reminded me of the lady on that show that always said«Kiss My Grits!!»(Mel’s Place??), and the clientele reminds me of the same kind you’d find at the local truck stop. I went on Karaōke Night, and the talent was lacking to say the least. Not only that, but a real live bar fight broke out right before my very eyes, and my friend ended up with a beer bottle in the head. Yes, folks, it’s true. Don’t go here unless you’re looking for some tone deaf rednecks.

Ugg… this might be a short review, because my stomach hurts from drinking too much tea. Tea with cream and sugar, that is. See, I like British things. I’m a fan of the Cure, Monty Python and female jazz/soul singers who are always almost about to die. So, yeah, the British Rose should be my cup of tea(oh, bloody hell, that was bad, I know). But the British Rose didn’t do it for me. Sure, it has dark wood and some items on the wall that beg you to believe you’re in Britain. But the place is also decked out in TVs playing the latest sports news, along with some video games for golf and bowling fans. Okay, the bowling arcade game could be considered a plus, but the beer selection wasn’t that British and the queso wasn’t that great. I know, I shouldn’t be ordering queso in a British bar, but since this place is more of a North Dallas strip-mall bar than a pub, I figured it could at least do that right, or at least okay, which it was, barely passing my strict rules and regulations for queso. So, if you’re seeking something British in Dallas, I suggest the Londoner. If you’re seeking Benny Hill with a Texas accent, then by all means the British Rose is your place.
