Dallas Associated Dermatologists

This review is for two of their locations: downtown Dallas near the Baylor University Medical Center and their North Dallas Preston/​Royal locations. I’ve never seen a dermatologist before until this year. I had a cyst on my face that I kept on ignoring for six months until my pathologist sister saw me and accused me of being one of those people who wait for a grapefruit sized tumor to grow out of my face before I do anything about it. So I begrudgingly made an appointment with Dr. Chris Carr who was referred to me by my other doctor friend. Making an appointment was super easy on the phone. From front desk to medical assistant to Dr. Carr himself, everything went smoothly. My pathologist sister is a professor at the Mayo Clinic medical school, so I thought she was pretty legit when she diagnosed my lesion as an inclusion cyst just by looking at it. However Dr. Carr guessed it was a xanthogranuloma just by examining it. Dr. Carr referred me to plastic surgeon Dr. Stephanie Teotia (who I also recommend) because he could foresee I am a bitchy and aesthetically demanding patient, although I try to hide that part of myself. He didn’t want to risk my wrath in case he scarred my face by removing the lesion, which I totally understood.
Anyway, after my biopsy, the pathology report confirmed it was a xanthogranuloma. Dr. Carr was right! Legit! I’ve since returned for other derm treatment and damn, my aesthetician Keri is amazing. After my initial consultation and just one IPL treatment later, my sun damaged skin resembles a baby’s butt. Smooth and dewy like those Korean drama actresses, which is the look I was going for. I absolutely recommend Dr. Carr and his team.

I saw Dr. Sklar when the doctor my GP had referred was booked for six weeks. He was the third doctor I had seen about the condition that I’d had for three months up to that point, and didn’t take me seriously at all. He told me to stop using the prescription medication that had been keeping my condition under control up to that point, and gave me a coupon for a grocery store moisturizer instead. And then he basically laughed me out of the room and told me to get over it. One month later, my condition is worse than it’s ever been, but I’m certainly not wasting another $ 40 copay and an afternoon on a doctor who was both unhelpful and disrespectful.

I’ve never had a bad experience with Dr. Scott or her office. I am usually in and out in under 15 minutes. I feel everyone is professional and courteous. I have been going to Dr. Scot for about four years. I recommend her to anyone and everyone.

My fiancé had an appointment, arrived 15 minutes early, and waited an hour only to be told that nobody would be able to see her because the doctor was too busy. How unprofessional!!! She was told that she would be next, only to find that there were actually 3 people in front of her. She ended up leaving because she had to get to work. Get you act together, seriously.

Dr. Crawford and his team are a amazing! I don’t know what I would do without them. I have struggled with acne for years and he has been able to get it under control. He always takes the time to talk and catch up while checking my skin. He is a great guy and doctor. Dr. Crawford also does my botox and juvederm in my lips and I am happy with how natural the results are… I will definitely continue doing both. I am glad I finally found Dr. Crawford and I am very appreciative for everyone at Dallas Assoc Derm.

A few days ago my face broke out in a red, itchy rash. I was generally miserable. I tried calling around to a few places, but no one could take me for over a week. I called Dallas Associated Dermatologists and they could fit me in with their PA the next day. After checking in, the nurse took me back within five minutes (that’s the first time I’ve ever been called back that fast at a dermatologist!) and the PA saw me within another five minutes. She was very caring and listened as I explained what had been going on. The treatment process felt collaborative and she was sure to answer all of my questions thoroughly. We agreed on a course of treatment and I was on my way. Overall, I have to say I was very impressed with both her knowledge and her bedside manner. I will definitely return to her with any other dermatology needs!

I like Dr. Fleischli but I will not be using this office any longer for my derm needs. I had a routine, recurring procedure performed to remove pilar cysts from my head. A biopsy is not necessary as these cysts are historically just an annoyance and benign. However I was charged $ 475 for a biopsy that I did not approve and that was not required (I was told multiple times by both the doctor and her assistant that it was not required). I cannot afford to be charged for unneccesary procedures and will not visit again out of principle alone.

I have been going to Dr. Chris Crawford, of Dallas Associated Dermatologitsts, for over ten years, and have never had a negative experience with him or any one else at any of their offices. On occasion, I’ve had to see an assistant or another doctor rather than Dr. Crawford himself (in order to be seen sooner), but I was always perfectly satisfied with the treatment and expertise I experienced. I always arrive prepared to point out specific spots I want looked at, rather than leave it to them to find them. But I’ve always felt like I was in good hands. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, I’ve had the same experience with Dr. Crawford. You have check yourself first and make sure you point out anything you have a question on. He doesn’t even check the scalp unless you specifically ask.
And of course, he rushes in and out.

I’ve been a patient of this medical group for over 15 years. Over the past few years, it’s become increasingly more difficult to schedule an appointment that isn’t at least 2 ½ months out and the doctor I usually see is now far more interested in performing cosmetic procedures. The staff who schedule the appointments are rude and after being put on hold for over nine minutes today, I’ve decided to find a new dermatologist.

Dr. Scott has always been kind, thorough, and efficient during our appointments. She’s treated me well and she’s fit me in whenever I’ve had concerns about skin issues (which she always puts to rest). I do have to book an appointment fairly far in advance, which can be a pain, but I’ve felt confident in the treatment I’ve received from Dr. Scott.

This review is a reflection of the experience I had trying to schedule an appointment. Earlier this week I filled out the patient information online and requested an appointment through their online system. I received a call early yesterday morning and the woman who left a VM stated I needed to call to schedule an appointment. I called yesterday and was sent to their VM. Instead of playing phone tag — I decided to call again the next day. I called today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Chris Crawford and was put on hold without being asked if I could be (it rang 4 times and then you could hear someone pick up the phone and then hold music started). After a few minutes, a woman got on the phone and I explained that I was a new patient looking to schedule an appointment with Dr. Crawford. She asked at which location — I requested Baylor — and she said the first available was October 17^th (in 2 ½ months). I asked if there were any earlier appointments in other locations and she said «no». I said «well — I guess I will have to find another doctor.» She said «fine» and hung up. I was shocked to think that she wouldn’t even find out the reason for my appointment (cancerous moles/​sunspots) or provided any information on if another doctor in their office had an earlier appointment. I have found another doctor and he’s seeing me in 4 days — and his online appointment system worked flawlessly.

This review is for the cosmetic office at the Royal Lane office. Thinking my face was about to crumble from my skull, I went to see Dr. Scott. She is quick with her clients like the other reviews say, that is true. I was suffering from a case of pre-​mid-​life-​freak-​out, so it wasn’t actually life or death for me. She diagnosed me as perhaps a little paranoid, and referred me to the cosmetic office. Once a year they do an open house at the office, and there I got to speak with the sales rep for Skinceuticals, aka my new best friend (the products, not the rep, though she was nice, and looked super good for her age). I got some very knowledgeable recommendations for a very spendy skin care regiment, but got $ 75 off because of the open house. I made a consultation appointment with one of the aestheticians, and that went great. I love the Skinceuticals line, and have a wish list for age appropriate, preventative skin care to work on over the next year. Best result of all, I get tons of complements on my complexion, and am going without makeup like some sort of 20-​something whose best years are still ahead of her. It’s super fun when people are surprised to hear your real age. It is worth every penny.

Dr. Scott was nice enough, but I agree with my fellow Unilocalers, she briefly glimpsed at my back and arms. This could potentially be a life or death kinda thing, you have to be thorough with the exam (i.e. melanoma !) Her nurse, a short haired woman, was not nice at all. The rest of the personnel were snooty and looked at me like they were doing ME a favor! My pharmacy has been trying to get in touch with them because my insurance needs them to send a prior authorization for the medication, they haven’t even bothered to return the calls. I spoke to her nurse (short haired woman) and she pretty much barked at me. I’m bringing THEM busines, if they would like more of it they all need a refresher course on how to treat customers. Just awful!

This review is solely based on the awful experience I had trying to schedule an appointment with this office. I’m in Dallas for a seven week course, have school-​provided insurance through a PPO, and managed to develop an urgent skin-​related issue. I looked through my plan’s provider directory and called this office since they’re the closest to where I’m staying. I got such attitude from the receptionist from the moment I gave her my name. She was also unpleasant about my insurance, as she didn’t believe me when I told her they were in-​network. Begrudgingly, she gave me an appointment, but she called me back within minutes to cancel it saying I wasn’t covered (which is false, I called my insurance company which said they were). I’ve never had a doctor’s office cancel on me, how rude!

I’m new to Dallas and it was time for me to find a dermatologist. I’ve lived in the southwest all my life (sunshine) and last year had a couple pre-​cancerous moles removed, so now I need to go for yearly skin checks.
I made an appointment with Dr. Scott. I was a new patient so I had to fill out the paper work, and the entire visit took nearly 2 hours. The office was fine, your typical doctors’ office. Everyone was friendly, I really liked the nurse (didn’t catch her name-​long gray hair). Dr. Scott was also very nice, but I didn’t feel like I got a very thorough exam. I left wondering if I should make another appointment with a different doctor just to be safe.
My old dermatologist would spend time looking over my entire body with a giant magnifying glass, and she’d also go through my thick hair very carefully checking my scalp. I would estimate that this part of the exam would last 5 – 10 minutes.
Dr. Scott did not use the magnifying glass, she had me stand up, hold out each arm. She glanced over my arms and legs and peeked under the gown briefly. She checked my scalp only where I had had the pre-​cancerous cells removed last time. This took MAYBE 2 minutes head to toe. I don’t see how she would have noticed if there were any «suspicious» moles.
Overall I was disappointed because I liked Dr. Scott and her nurse, but don’t feel like I got an adequate exam.
