Basically, the way that we work at Custom Comedy is we get info from you about your celebrant or situation. A working professional comic puts together a brief, personalized comedy roast, clean & good natured. They can then do a funny song & a sing-​a-​long. Certain entertainers are stronger singers than comics and may put your info in a custom song… we leave that choice to the artist and our clients are always pleasantly surprised! If you give us advanced notice, we also include a token gift like a rose, or balloons or a custom surprise connected to the character you choose.

History

Established in 1992.

We began life as «Directed by JC Peters» a production company operating in Dallas in the 70’s and 80’s specializing in all types of zany interactive improv and comedy for special events. We take YOU, the client, and take YOUR ideas to a fully realized comedy event. We reimagined our company and renamed it Singing Telegrams and Custom Comedy in 1992 as we thought it better described what we do.

Founded by Jill Christine Peters, an SMU Theater grad and accomplished Dallas comedienne herself, in her early days in business she just booked her own act and a friend who did a funny Elvis parody impression. Jill founded Custom Comedy to fill a gap in the Dallas talent scene, as there were agencies representing actors and musicians but no one specializing in comedy.

Jill is best known for her Signature role, «Brendene.» A spoof of the working world as seen by blue collar ladies. Brendene is «Everywoman.» She’ s the working mom, lunch room lady and trailer trash housewife who’s larger than life

Business Owner

Jill Christine Peters is an alien. She was born & raised in small town Ohio. She came to Texas to attend SMU, and became a naturalized Texan as soon as she could! She graduated with a BFA in theater. Dallas Playwrite and Yale Drama grad Tim Hatcher saw Jill in a play at Addison Center Theater and offered to write her a one woman comedy show. «Brendene, the lady and her laundry» received rave reviews from the Dallas Observer, KERA, The Morning News and D Magazine. She’s created other versions of «Brendene,» including «Brendene’s Trailer Talk.» Brendene IS the original Desperate Housewife.

Jill has performed in area theaters like Dallas Theater Center, Theater Three, & Circle Theater. She’s been seen on Good Morning Texas, & in films like Certain Guys with Dietrich Bader. She also performs as a comedienne in Dallas comedy clubs.

She has worked in corporate positions and owned a national franchise.

Jill founded Custom Comedy to better represent comedy groups, and stand up comics.
